i don't get how this could be. even if they didn't play a disparate amount of games, you don't think the seahawks would outdraw the soccer team? Based solely on attendance? What a flawed way to measure. But yes the seahawks sell out every game. Of course the sounders draw over 40k which is almost double the next-highest MLS team. They play twice as many games as an NFL team and they aren't all Sunday afternoon when attendance is easy.

I wasn't here when the sonics were but the seahawks are the clear #2 right now. So I'd guess this was a seahawks town most recently.

I don't think Green Bay counts. New Orleans didn't give a crap about the Saints, or sports in general until 5 years ago, and that was with no competition for local hearts. Cleveland is most likely correct, and I don't know anything about Baltimore. if you consider Wisconsin a city, it totally does. As far as New Orleans, yeah, they needed to get good to beloved, but they are loved. I also forgot about Seattle. Times are a changing my friend. I see sounders stuff (hats, shirts, jackets and their season ticket scarves) on people at least 2/1 over seahawks crap and much more than that over mariners. You can't reserve baseball fields in local parks during the summer bc they're almost universally being used for soccer all day long. This here is a soccer town.

So what's the rule on DL spots these days? Last year, when it was a weekly league the whole season, I think there was some dispute, but at least by the following Monday (new week) you had to have your lineup back to legal. So guys that came off the DL the prior week, even the prior weekend, had to be off your DL by the start of Monday's games. A couple weeks ago, in my matchup against HBC, he had 2 extra guys on his DL on Monday when the games started (Gattis and Peavy). They had come off the DL that weekend and played and pitched (Gattis played all 3 weekend games; Peavy pitched Saturday). As soon as I saw it, I posted about it on the RK chat. Chuck made the change later that day, but after Monday games had begun. Clearly it was unintentional, but he got to have 2 extra guys on his roster. I ended up losing by 6, so clearly the outcome would have been different (5% of HBC's total that week would put him at 308 - less than my score, see: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=62070). I mentioned it to abuck via pm and he didn't want to take any point away. He told me to bring it up here, but I didn't want to cause a stir and hoped it wouldn't end up mattering. Now that I've clinched the division, it didn't ultimately matter to me. But it's relevant to the larger question I have. Because...today, abuck has 2 guys still on the DL that came off last week (Perez has played since Saturday; Estrada pitched last Wednesday - 5 days ago). According to abuck's post here: viewtopic.php?p=2954943#p2954943, the rules should be enforced for having an illegal roster regardless of the reason. As he stated (and I agree), it doesn't matter if you meant to. We don't come into this thinking people are trying to cheat, but if you break a rule you get penalized just like everyone else. So he should lose the highest of the 3 totals from his thread linked above. With 2 SPs going today, that probably means abuck loses the points from a start today. So is that the rule? It seems to me that you should have to have your DL cleaned up by Monday (start of the new week), even if a guy came off the DL the weekend before. If you make a mistake and don't make the roster adjustment in time, that's unfortunate, but you got the advantage of an extra guy or two, so you should lose points. I thought that was the rule we were playing under last year and I thought that was what abuck was getting at with his midseason posts above. But I want to be sure that's how everyone else understands it.

I'm opposed to that rule. In part bc I prefer to have the keeper deadline where it is. So much more is known about the players in Feb. I'm not sure why we'd want to set keepers so early in the off season. Moreover, that rule will greatly reduce trading as teams will no longer have an interest in clearing points during the year in order to take on high point players in the off season. Teams with multiple high point players will end up dropping them which means they'll be available to those teams again in the draft. We'll lose the balance that the current system affords. I still don't know what great problem needs to be solved.

I cannot imagine that happening in a world where everybody knows the Cubs are acquiring any and all cheap labor they can get their hands on. If somebody was fooled enough into thinking this was sustainable, won't they have serious doubts once the Cubs think about dealing him? Not if we have other players at those positions, esp if we keep Nate and sign another OF in the off season.

The fact that you can get into the stadium for about $10 and sit almost anywhere after a couple innings is a big part of the draw. And that I'm looking down at it right now and the people in RF seem to be enjoying their afternoon a hell of a lot more than I am.

So if these brokers start singing, are all these guys screwed? I mean, why would you sign a few hundred pics and helmets and whatever if you weren't getting paid? Would they really not think they'd get caught? It sort of baffles me.

Weekday mariners games are killers. I'm glad they only play a handful every season. The urge to take off at noon, hop on the light rail and watch baseball in the sun for like $15 is pretty hard to resist.

I'm not really looking to reignite the debate. It's only been 7-14 days for the trades I made. I'm just bitching that they have universally been [expletive] for me so far.

Every player I got in these trades has sucked (Swisher, Rios, Markakis), gotten hurt (HRam), hasn't had many opportunities (Nathan) or been out pitched by someone I gave up (Cain v Felix) and I've lost both weeks.
