.237/.337/.446 with a 30% K rate. Better, but still a lot of red flags. we'd only take him as a 2nd piece and the rangers would want the 23rd best prospect coming into the year to be the centerpiece. The Rangers realize that rating is irrelevant now.

I was just messing. I get your point and it's valid. I've been there on a much smaller scale. Bonuses this year are rumored to be as high as X. When they come, they're maybe X/2 and it's bummer city bc you've already made plans for X.

I'm still not over the $6.7m signing bonus I lost by never being good enough at baseball to get drafted. I had an obp over .400 and was like 12/14 is SB attempts. WTF baseball?

Right. The team that trades for him has to think that he's worth whatever they give up without considering a comp pick but that's a separate issue than whether the cubs would trade him for less than the value of a comp pick which is patently stupid.

I'd sure as hell hope they'd have to exceed the minimum value we'd get if we can't sign him or trade him, given that the team would also get 2+ months of pitching from him. Brilliant insight

They have some nice prospects - 3B Corey Seager, OF Joc Pederson, LHP Julio Urias (can't be traded till 8/12/13) and RHP Zach Lee. All four are top 100 prospects, Seager is a definite top 50 prospect while Pederson and Urias are in that discussion. Might be able to get Lee or Pederson. I thought Lee fell out of BA's top 100 this year. ETA: actually, none of those guys are on BA's 2013 list. Yeah I went to add him last week when the mid-season top 50 came out. Noticed he wasn't in the system and figured he wasn't eligible. Forgot people can just create someone that isn't in the system. Kinda BS.
