  1. If the Cubs lose I'm blaming you for jinxing it after I finally got my first win starting a game thread. :P Worth it
  2. I'm getting HRs hit on either side of me. Ugh.
  3. Starting this thread b/c I'm going to my first Cubs game in 2 years. I'm expecting 8 shutout innings each by this pair of aces. Go Cubs Go!
  4. If you can get over to Alki on Monday or Tuesday I'd highly recommend it. Will be crazy this weekend and on the 4th but shouldn't be too bad Monday and Tuesday. Also highly recommend emp if you love music. There's almost always a Hendrix exhibit. The after hours underground tour that starts in Pioneer Square is a fun way to learn about the city.
  5. Going on Sunday. Crappy pitching matchup (Jackson vs. Bonderman), but really looking forward to the stadium and the city. Will be there Sat-Tue. Any specific recommendations? Also going Sunday but really thinking a out getting tix to see Shark on Saturday. 4pm start is stupid though. What are you looking for? Where are you staying (presumably downtown by either the market or near 7th/pine where most hotels are).
  6. Welcome to Seattle, Cubbies. Gonna be a hot weekend here, so they should feel right at home.
  7. it's gotta be the shoes http://i.ytimg.com/vi/BhHONpmlxPc/0.jpg http://espn.go.com/tennis/wimbledon13/story/_/id/9423438/wimbledon-2013-roger-federer-told-not-wear-orange-sole-shoes
  8. So Owls still has Scheppers in the minors, even though he's made 37 appearances in the majors this year and the limit for prospect status is 25.
  9. In transactions, where it belongs, so we'll lock this.
  10. He's gets the same question a million times and answered the specifics (will law/grad school help me get a baseball job) of this one.
  11. He probably gets that question about a billion times a day and more than that during a chat. So he answered with snark. There's no way the guy that asked the question is nearly as offended as some folks here appear to be.
  12. he gets enough [expletive] questions from [expletive] all day that he can respond like that if he wants to. the least he can do when someone asks him an earnest question is give an earnest response. And he was asked specifically about going to law school or an MBA program. It's stupid to go to law school to be a lawyer right now (unless it's free in which case it's just kinda dumb). But spending what it costs to get a grad degree with the intent of working in baseball is totally stupid. There's a lot worse klaw answers out there than that one. Then again he doesn't bother me as much as he clearly bothers some.
  13. Bc Theo's strength is scouting, he'd be willing take a former top prospect that has sucked bc he can swindle the team out of a few other underrated guys? Oh sweet lord
  14. How hard would it be to submarine one right into his face?
  15. Chuck - as I mentioned in the chat a couple times, Hechavarria just hit 200 ABs in the majors. You can't keep him in the minors.
  16. If you're suggesting that a dry run would lead to controversy in cfb well, I'll believe it when I see it. Seriously, there would be drawbacks. And yes, there would likely be controversy if different teams would have been selected. But isn't that the point? The committee is supposed to be better so try it and see what happens with no real life ramifications. There's going to be controversy about who's in the title game anyway so that's not much of a concern to me. I think the benefit of seeing how it works before it has to work outweighs the negative.
  17. This selection committee idea will be an utter disaster. Why not release the results of the dry run? If you expect it to be so bad that it overshadows the season itself, what do you think will happen in 2014? http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--college-football-playoff-brass-one-step-closer-to-establishing-committee-011130457.html
  18. I couldn't believe that one either. I knew the IF fly one though.
  19. Damn. I'm going Sunday. May have to get tix to Sat too. I'll be at the game on Sunday with my family. Assuming you are from the area by your username, I have a quick question: will it be impossible to get a table at the Pyramid Brewpub after the game. We will have a baby with us that complicates matters, so we would need a normal table, not just a hightop or something like that. I'm assuming higher than normal attendance b/c of a Cubs game on a Sunday, so I'd say it'll be pretty difficult unless you leave the game early. If you're able to go downtown instead, you should, if nothing else bc there are more and better places.
