  1. The inability to make the most basic distinctions is exhausting. You're right. David Ross is a just the sweetest most lovable teddy bear who would do anything for anyone. He's not a jerk. He's not an horsefeathers. He's not one of those intense hard ass guys that you love but wear on your nerves. He's a kind swell guy and it's great that raisin bran was there to shine some light on the poor mutli-ring owning down on his luck guy. Dear lord. No one said anyone hated Ross (except Ross)
  2. Reading comprehension: needs improvement
  3. you understand why jokes are funny right?
  4. Again: teammates appreciate him but he's not going to be anyone's favorite player after a few years. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/cubs-anthony-rizzo-kris-bryant-david-ross-retirement/
  5. You say that like it's a bad thing. I thought the first time you said "raisin bran" you were calling him "raisin brain," which is a pretty great random insult. no i'm not saying its bad. i'm saying crash davis wouldn't appear on dwts or pimping raisin bran. the fact that you think raisin bran is an insult proves my point.
  6. What? Everybody freaking loved him. Sure, he pushed guys hard, but I've never heard anything but love for the guy. This Ross backlash is weird. I'm not saying teammates didn't appreciate him. But the posts are acting like David Ross is this super nice guy like Rizzo is. He's an old hard ass. Good for him that he's cashing in on the last year but he just seems like an odd choice for an underappreciated super nice guy since he's not. He's horsefeathering crash davis with a WS ring. Just weird to see this huge reaction to a guy saying he's tired of daily pics of Ross and a bowl of raisin bran.
  7. If you use Twitter I don't know how you wouldn't be a little annoyed by Ross and his raisin bran. He pops up everywhere in retweets. And isn't Ross widely considered an horsefeathers as a teammate? I thought he was one of those guys that was hard on everyone, which is what made the grandpa Rossy thing interesting. Rizzo would be dumb in that character in 10 years bc he's just so nice to everyone. I'm not bothered in the way ape seems to be but I can certainly see his point.
  8. I just sent pigeons a message to see if he wants to return as the 8th manager. He was active so maybe he'd stay. I can't seem to change the league settings but maybe that's b/c we haven't paid for 2017? Anyone know?
  9. Lady floating face down in the pool is probably dead. What kind of cheap motel are you staying at?
  10. Have you been to Sloan yet? The practice fields are literally right next to Sloan (where the Cubs play home ST games). When I was there 2 weekends ago, we went early like 10-ish to watch BP. It was a split squad day but the team that was playing away was taking BP. Just missed Schwarber but saw Baez, Almora and Candy (who put a half dozen out in his 3 times thru the cage). Actually watching Baez field BP from that close was as cool as anything. He's so horsefeathering slick. The home team was practicing on the further field and we didn't walk over there bc they were kinda wrapping up. That was opening weekend so I don't know if that's the norm. But I'm guessing you would see some guys working out or taking BP even if it's not the whole team if you go early. The huge practice building with locker room, etc, is to the left, the BP fields stacked in the middle, and Sloan to the right so I'm sure they all go there before heading to whatever game each day. And the Cubs store is accessible outside Sloan so I'm guessing that's open. It's a pretty awesome complex. Then I'd go to dinner at Don & Charlie's bc there's a horsefeathers ton of baseball stuff and much of it is Cubs. Sounds like guys from the team eat there pretty frequently if you want a chance encounter with horseteeth lackey.
  11. My question is who is the 8th manager. If another person has said they're in and I missed it or forgot, I want to correct that before eliminating half the league. If we only have 7, I want to know that so we can try to find 1 more.
  12. So the 8 teams are: Calvinball D-Block Galesburg Dealers NSBB CCK Quakers and who? Pigeons (the guy who got banned from here) or UK's team? or rodelo or who?
  13. if he only has 1 working elbow, what do i care?
  14. I'm confused by this stance. Is it because: 1) You don't want the Mets to have an additional asset. - meh, I'm not really threatened by the Mets, but I can see not wanting good things for other teams. 2) Not wanting athlete's of other sports thinking they can just "pick-up" baseball. - as long as you felt the same way about Jordan, I'm ok with this. or is this 3) or simple dislike of Tim Tebow? - I don't understand those who feel this way. Some people over-rated him/He got too much attention for his talent level, but I didn't see him do anything worthy of the hate some people have for him. I don't have any particular love for Tebow, but I don't wish him any ill will. not wanting him to make the majors isn't exactly hoping he dies of cancer tomorrow. jesus, the guy went to college for free and played in the nfl. he doesn't need anyone's sympathy.
  15. I hope he's (name of some AA/AAA player who's never sniffed the majors)
  16. the second hop is in memory of jose fernandez you monsters
  17. what percentage of the US population knows who Chris Kattan is without the benefit of Google? Probably a greater percentage than those that know who David Ross is. He was a really big part of the Will Ferrell era SNL and has been in movies. Baseball players pale in comparison to actual TV/Movie celebrities. oh absolutely. David Ross certainly isn't a star outside of this board. I just saw Kattan and thought it was hilarious that he was a movie/tv star by their standards. I'm not sure I'd say he was a huge part of SNL. He was on SNL with a lot of people that went on to have great careers and got to star in a movie with Will Ferrell. But most people wouldn't recognize his name until they saw his face. of course, if you're more famous than a pro bull rider, i guess you qualify for DWTS
  18. this has always been the case with shows using celebrities/stars. they've used all kinds of olympians, football players and other athletes, but it's vaguely interesting that this is the first mlb player to participate. It takes place during the summer I assume so obviously current players can't participate, but there are lots of former players and I would have thought some 90's era yankees had participated or some former dodger. what percentage of the US population knows who Chris Kattan is without the benefit of Google?
  19. this is a spring training thread you idiots.
  20. Saw opening day and some BP today. Candy put out over a half dozen including about 3 in a row. Javy was shagging balls at 2nd and ran all the way to the fence in short right to make an over the shoulder catch. The crowd cheered and he tossed the ball over to a kid like a boss. 4-3 win today. Nothing big really. Jay with a nice double down the line.
  21. [tweet] [/tweet]
  22. I need that jersey. no way. looks like the horsefeathering mets
  23. Not sure if there's a spring training thread. Anyone know when the cubs usually take BP before spring games?
  24. Kris Bryant - Toys
  25. I don't know if he hates, but he hasn't watched much, if any. Yeah, I don't hate it. It's funny when I watch it. Just haven't seen a ton of it, and certainly don't have encyclopedic knowledge of it. He's not alone either
