  1. Rumor is he's got the flu. But his signature play is knocking the unbuckled helmet off a 170lb RB when he was left entirely unblocked. So.
  2. Huh. Why wasn't cutler as good in Chicago as he was in Denver? (Dodges rusher) Could it be that he was a system QB? (Scrambles to the right to avoid DT) Maybe he's distracted by his gf and the Chicago nightlife (flings a pass to some [expletive] WR like Earl Bennett as a MLB dives at him, knocking him to the ground on his throwing shoulder) Hard to say really
  3. Dez Bryant got an entire season just for lying about eating dinner with Deion Sanders, which wasn't even a violation The NCAA is so inconsistent. Manziel commits a known violation (even though I don't think it should be is irrelevant) and gets 1/2 game while Dez lies about a non-violation and gets a whole season. I really hope the former players win the lawsuit against the NCAA because I'd love to see the whole thing come crumbling down. Former players have a pretty good case. Not sure about current ones. Current players are also biting the hand that feeds them.
  4. Spirit of the rules! @McMurphyESPN: To clarify: Manziel suspension for violating "spirit" of NCAA bylaw 12.5.2.1 & 12.5.2.2. NCAA couldn't prove he broke any rules source said
  5. In the past, I remember reading that rosters for all teams "lock" on the last day of the regular season, by which I mean, after the playoffs, all team rosters go back to how they were on the last Sunday of the regular season. That way, no team gets the advantage of making moves that could change their keeper roster while other teams are in or out of the playoffs. Is that the rule? Just looking to clarify upfront.
  6. Bob Diaco plays the media like a cheap whore Irish defensive coordinator Bob Diaco has a more colorful depiction. “One’s a flat-head screwdriver and one’s a Phillips head screwdriver,” he said, “So when you have a screw that you need to screw in that has a Phillips head, you better grab the Phillips head screwdriver.”
  7. Strike out the side. And let's go. Strop strop baby He's Pedro Strop strop baby
  8. That's what I thought. If you're going to put a fb player's head on a mountain it has to be a QB and not a very good RB that played for like 6 years. Besides, QBs are pretty. I was thinking of Bronco Nagurski. My bad. If it's going to be a QB it has to be Unitas or Montana. To whoever said Unitas was too long ago, what about Babe Ruth? I said he was too long ago bc he was. Football wasn't the most popular sport when Unitas played. Is Babe Ruth the most famous athlete in American history? Maybe. Totally different circumstances than football. And as I said before, Lombardi makes the most sense. But if it has to be a player, it has to be a QB and the obvious choice is Montana.
  9. Absolutely. But he didn't launch himself. He put his helmet on the ball and wrapped up. Given the speed of the game I just don't think it's possible for a MLB to never have his helmet hit a WRs helmet. Guys that launch at a player's head should be heavily fined (maybe even ejected). But that just doesn't look like a dirty football play. I haven't seen anyone claim otherwise so I don't think this is fan bias. If that's a play the NFL is going to fine then there will be multiple fines per game or the slant is going to be virtually unstoppable.
  10. That's what I thought. If you're going to put a fb player's head on a mountain it has to be a QB and not a very good RB that played for like 6 years. Besides, QBs are pretty. I was thinking one of Unitas, Bradshaw, Marino, Montana, Elway, Favre (shudder) or even Manning (Peyton, not Eli). Those would be the only QBs that could be considered the best in the game for more than a couple years. It's probably b/c he won seemingly every SB in my youth, but I keep going back to Montana, even though I hated him growing up. Unitas is too long ago. Bradshaw too weird. Marino and Kelly too unsuccessful at SBs. Elway too goofy. Manning and Brady are too recent and Farve doesn't know how to spell his own name. So they're all out.
  11. http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/9587983/jon-bostic-chicago-bears-fined-21000-hit-mike-willie-san-diego-chargers 5% of his salary, basically for tackling a guy in the process of catching a ball. I'm not really sure how you can play MLB and not do what Bostic did there. Wrapped up, put his helmet on the ball. Yes, his helmet got into the WR's head, but that can't be avoided on every tackle. Every WR running a slant or screen is defenseless? Makes you wonder how long football will be around.
  12. Sadly, ND's biggest loss by far would be Tommy Rees. Never thought I'd say that.

  14. I thought Jim Thorpe was an Olympian.
  15. I love those things. The recruiting writer picked the school 10 minutes before the player announced? HE'S A GENIUS
  16. Hood decommitted from ND. So the fabulous off-season clearly isn't over yet.
  17. Payton is my all time favorite player but he's not the face of football for this. I'd pick a famous QB like Montana or a guy like Lombardi or Walsh.
  18. As I said earlier, the locals know this is a crap sandwich schedule, and will accept nothing less than 12-0 because of it. But whose schedule is a bigger crap sandwich, OSU or Bama? Bama has TWO FCS schools, plus they don't play Florida, S. Carolina or Georgia. Oh, and they have LSU at home What does Bama have to do with it? Bama's schedule is harder than OSU's, but Bama isn't the poster child for quality OOC scheduling. I'm still trying to figure out how this is Tressel's fault.
  19. And they played USC, and what, Texas or Miami or something when Tressel was there? They generally had 1 interesting OOC game and 3 crap sandwiches. I guess Cal is supposed to be that interesting game this year but that's the risk you run with that approach. Still makes no sense to lay this schedule at Tressel's feet. OSU could have added better teams if they really wanted to. They didn't and don't.
  20. I don't know. Why are you blaming Tressel? It isn't like Meyer had a history of scheduling tough OOC games at Florida. Matchups between good teams are done years in advance. Buy games like this [expletive] can be done even the year before. Has OSU announced a bunch of great OOC games since Meyer took over? This is an OSU issue not a Tressel issue.
  21. Doesn't look much different. He wasn't exactly tom cruise in 1986.
  22. Jim Tressel? It's been 2 years, the FCS schools could be bought out, and doesn't the AD office generally handle scheduling? I can't believe Tressel was really on the phone with buffalo and Florida A&M trying to lock down dates for 2013.
  23. How can any cubs fan not immediately recognize that [expletive]? He's easily my most hated player and always will be. If I were playing the original RBI baseball today, I'd bench him before the first pitch, just like the good ol days. They should invite him back to Wrigley just so people can dump more beer on his head.
