  1. Whoa. You Gibbons' brother or something? I actually wrote several times that it was terrible that the student took her life. The investigation didn't reveal a sexual assault occurred (the implication that it's a fact that this student took her life bc of these alleged events is far more ridiculous than anything I've ever written). But I don't know what happened and neither do you. By contrast, the UM investigation concluded that something happened that warranted kicking this guy out of school. Its a little crazy that it took 4 years for that action and even crazier that the "punishment" happened after it would have actually hurt the team. Convenient. I think it's funny that you cite an article by a woman who has a pretty solid history of hating ND (warranted or not) but then also cite an apparently "unbiased" article that shows UM in a more favorable light. You seem to like to believe in articles that make ND look bad and UM look better. Interesting.
  2. And before you clowns start up with the jokes, murdering videographers is NOT bending the rules. when its against the rules to kill students and cover up rape only outlaws will kill students and coverup rape where's the angst over UM's kicker being kicked out of school for raping a girl 4 years after the crime, coincidentally just weeks after he, and his 5-star OT friend who threatened the victim, had used up all their eligibility? Oh, and the student paper that first reported on the 4 years between crime and punishment got banished from the press conference about it that Hoke held on Monday. Probably because the couple of Michigan fans that post here do not point out how their program is on some sort of higher moral ground. I would hope not. They let a guy that raped a girl kick extra points and FGs for 4 years before kicking him out of school.
  3. Could be. It doesn't likely matter
  4. http://i.imgur.com/6dD33us.jpg YES. http://i.imgur.com/IrNNnD5.jpg rickets, pedo bear, soriano, hitler. if there was a dog dying of cancer in the background, it'd be everything that's wrong with the world in one place
  5. Really? Huh, I thought guys in the minors could be on your prospect roster unless they broke camp with the major league club. abuck here said that if a player is actually in the minors then they can be in the minors: viewtopic.php?p=2954063#p2954063 And during the draft in 2012, when I first joined, Quakers (and others) said if a guy doesn't break camp with the major league team, then you lose him from your roster: viewtopic.php?p=2762405#p2762405 Maybe those rules don't apply during the offseason. If so, sorry for the misinformaiton.
  6. What'd you give up for him? I'll make you an offer you can't refuse for Latos too.
  7. Since the site crashed and we lost abuck's recent posts, just wanted to remind people that next Friday, February 14, is the deadline to have keeper rosters set. That means any trades you want to make to get close to or under 2000 points have to be completed by then and non-keepers have to be dropped by then. You get 10 major league keepers that totaled 2000 points in 2013 (including exempt and non-exempt players - 10 total in the majors) and 10 minor leaguers/prospects (players under the minor league limits or actually in the minors). The rules sticky somehow survived the crash, but here's the breakdown of Exemptions and Minor Leagues/Prospects (note that Exemptions use PAs and Prospects use ABs). Exemptions: Each player gets 3 exempt "years." Which means the prior season's stats don't count toward your 2000 points. As an example, Kyle Seager is exempt for the last time this year (he used his exemptions for his 2011 season, 2012 season, and now, for his 2013 season). So the 3 years looks backward, if that's helpful. A "year" is a season in which a player has 50 or more plate appearances, 5 pitching starts, or 10 total appearances. Prospects: 1. Players with more than 200 or more major league at-bats in a season are not eligible. 2. Players with 10 or more major league pitching starts in a season are not eligible. 3. Players with 25 or more total major league pitching appearances in one season are not eligible. The rule has also been that if a player is actually in the minors but has exceeded the limits in any prior year, you can keep him as a prospect. BUT if he starts the year in the majors, you lose him from your roster.
  8. Abuck's dropping smilies in the 2005 keepers thread like he's imitating roast breaking boards with his forehead. So are we going to have to play with 2005 rules or are all those recent threads still in here somewhere?
  9. 10. Sounds like I Mackenzie may be stuck holding the bag tomorrow. He was an ND commit most of the season but he needed to bring his grades up. When he did, a bunch of schools offered and he decided to take visits and decommit. He never took an official to ND bc he wanted to see 5 other schools but his ND offer hinged on meeting with the admissions people on campus. When he didn't visit ND, he lost his offer. Turns out, all his offers were conditional and those other schools filled up and pulled their offers. He may get a UGA offer but he may not. Kid overplayed his hand something fierce.
  11. Tommy Rees is envious of his elusiveness
  12. 2 weeks until rosters have to be set. Looking mostly for draft picks, maybe an exempt player. Latos and CJ Wilson both available. As are Pence, Rios, and Andrus if you want a cheap SS.
  13. Who did Tuitt murder to fall to 51?
  14. And before you clowns start up with the jokes, murdering videographers is NOT bending the rules. I suppose he was recruiting the videographer to hell for Satan, his master. So ok, that's a fair point.
  15. If you've got a story about Kelly bending recruiting rules at ND, we're all ears. Go ahead. Whenever you're ready.
  16. Absolutely. I don't think it will, though, and that's a shame. I can't believe it would be aired during the game. First, the NFL would never allow it. Second, why would Native Americans want to pay the money to buy ad space during the broadcast that indirectly goes to support the NFL?
  17. Jim Mora cannot believe another school would dare to bend the rules
  18. Is it actually going to be aired? Yes, according to Yahoo sports. where are you seeing that? It won't be aired during the game broadcast. http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014/01/31/anti-redskins-ad-released-in-time-for-super-bowl/
  19. I love that Mandel is just now asking questions about this sexual assault that resulted in an expulsion, today, 4 years after the event (and after the player graduated and used all his eligibility). The story "raises a *lot* of questions" for Mandel. I think the verb you're looking for is "raised" - the questions were raised 4 years ago.
  20. I get that, but they're 17 or 18 and being lied to (or at least mislead).
  21. So some random DT target canceled his visit to ND this weekend so he could go to Tennessee instead. Tennessee already has 34 commits in this class, so why not try to make it an even 35. If all 35 sign, that brings their 4 year total to 105, which is just a touch over the 85 man limit.
  22. Exactly. Why have I read so many posts claiming that the FA class sucks? Some of those guys with get extensions (Lester basically said publicly yesterday that he'd play for peanuts to stay in Boston), but that's a lot of quality SP that'll be available for just money in 10 months.
  23. Tanaka was a crucial necessity. How so? We're entirely unable to compete for __ years b/c we didn't sign him.
  24. 8 coordinators? seems a bit...excessive
  25. Apparently no one else wanted him at the time either as he sat on the open market for 2 weeks before I picked him back up. Roady was the only one who asked. I got two picks for two players I would otherwise had gotten nothing for. No you didn't. You gave up a pick as well. You got a third round prospect pick (which not all teams, maybe half the teams, use) and you moved up 2 rounds at the back of the MLB draft. You didn't get 2 picks. I don't know why Butler sat as a FA for 2 weeks, but I also know we have some teams that don't pay that much attention, esp to prospects. If you want to trade Butler back to me now, I'll give you a 4th round prospect pick. I'll throw in a 5th! I only really care b/c I took a lot of [expletive] for that Felix trade, which I thought made a lot of sense, but some people got pissed about. Especially after Cain was great in the 2nd half and Butler was solid in AA (and Olt sucked), it looked like it worked out well for you. But now...it doesn't look so good.
