  1. I'm looking forward to 40 solo home runs too!
  2. from what was said on sports central yesterday, the sox will want WAY more than that for either vasquez or garcia. apparently at this point williams is asking quite alot for any of his starters. Can't blame him, given what the mediocre FA starters are getting paid.
  3. Larry Johnson is out for the season.
  4. Can we run Arkansas' "wildcat" and put Jones at QB?
  5. Phlegm cleared out of the nose and/or throat and spit out of the mouth. Wait, what...
  6. Yeah, had a few Cs to spare. Loving Allen and Rashard right now.
  7. It's quite obvious to those paying attention. But it's still something that needs to be plainly written out. There's still a large contingent bewildered about Pierre not returning. Many people think the Cubs problem is a lack of small ball and poor defense. It's not saying a lot, but it appears to be an answer to a chat question, and it's a 100% accurate statement. Which is funny, considering how poorly JP plays CF.
  8. Exactly. You simply DO NOT mess with a Ham Fighter.
  9. Weren't most of those ABs in the lead-off spot from last year, his career (and also walk) year? There were a lot of variables for him at play last year (new league, walk year, lead off, etc). Hard to say which was most important. At any rate, we're paying him $17m, he can hit anywhere I darn well tell him to (or, more likely, anywhere Lou tells him to). This is how I'd set it up, though JH is likely to ditch Jones for a CF and DeRosa wasn't brought in to be a backup, but whatever: Theriot 2B Murton LF Lee 1B ARam 3B Soriano RF Barrett C Jones CF Izturis SS I'd like to get rid of 7 & 8, but I don't know who we'll bring in for those spots now.
  10. The WS may have played out differently if the Tigers had some guys who would take a dang pitch already. They were a bunch of free-swinging hacks up there. Doesn't matter to me which side of the plate a guy hits from, I just want one that can get on base (and plus, we're already terrible against LHP, why do we need a lefty?). As for CLee...ugh. I don't want to spend any more of this crazy money on guys who had career years during their walk year. We could be very upset with Soriano's contract quickly if our RF is putting up an .820 OPS for $17m. If we give another huge contract to a beyond-his-prime, overrated OF and waste Murton's cheap production, I'm going postal.
  11. Where would we play Izturis?!?! [/sarcasm]
  12. Both, but slight edge to dogs. Probably b/c I have one now and don't have any cats. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l273/jnelson_21/34863B8433A7Ffp463Dot3E23443D4253D5.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l273/jnelson_21/34863B8433A7Ffp633Dot3E23443D4253D5.jpg
  13. Jack's Naturally Rising Tombstone Totino's - anything that allows you to walk into a store with $5 and walk out with 5 pizzas has to be top 3; this was my #1 when I was in college
  14. I was totally expecting "Dog, Cat, Bird" - Male/Female was surprising. If it's a dog, gotta be a female. Otherwise I don't care.
  15. I picked Apple, but Strawberry should have been a choice. What's wrong with you?
  16. My "coke" vote is really for "diet coke" b/c I don't drink the regular version of either.
  17. Switch Murton and DeRosa. And then platoon DeRosa with Jones and let Theriot play 2nd. Or move Soriano back to 2nd and sign JD Drew. No, I wouldn't stop tinkering after signing Soriano. Izturis, DeRosa, and the P (other than Z) potentially give us 3 big black holes in the lineup.
  18. It's also my dream to buy the Cubs, for what it's worth.
  19. They're all right caramel covered. Both of these are correct. The answer is Honey Crisp followed by Fuji.
  20. Career .329 OBP and missed a lot of games in just 4 years. .871 OPS in 92 games last year. On the other hand, he turned 25 at the end of this season, so he's just entering his prime. If he's reasonable, in terms of prospects, and we can't get Drew, ok.
  21. I disagree on the Ks. The impact of Ks on an offense is overrated. His OBP is still great (though down a bit this season). I'd much prefer Drew to Soriano also, but the chances of JH going after him are not good, methinks.
  22. So Hendry created a hilariously expensive reliever market. Got it... :P If he uses that to his advantage and trades Howry & Dempster this year, that would be crafty. But I have doubts. As for the topic at hand - Westbrook please.
