  1. 1 is the WR and 1 is the SP. I'm guessing the WR profile is higher up on BQs list of friends...
  2. The league is full. There hasn't been a ton of discussion about the draft time, so we'll left it at March 4 (next Sunday) at 1:30 Eastern.
  3. That's why I hate auto-pick. I'd never have taken Young 1 round after having taken Ramirez (esp since I hadn't taken a pitcher yet). I'll probably deal Young since I think I need Ramirez's steals.
  4. Just got the autopick results of my first ever Y! public team (5x5, H2H league). Ended up with 11th pick (out of 12). Unfortunately, Santana didn't fall to me... 1. (11) Mark Teixeira 1B 2. (14) David Wright 3B 3. (35) Hanley Ramírez SS 4. (38) Michael Young SS 5. (59) Brian McCann C 6. (62) B.J. Ryan RP 7. (83) Ben Sheets SP 8. (86) Julio Lugo 2B,3B,SS 9. (107) Dan Haren SP 10. (110) Álex Ríos OF 11. (131) Nick Swisher 1B,OF 12. (134) Moisés Alou OF 13. (155) Scott Olsen SP 14. (158) Andy Pettitte SP 15. (179) Mike González RP 16. (182) Akinori Otsuka RP 17. (203) Brad Hawpe OF 18. (206) Matt Murton OF 19. (227) Chris Burke 2B,OF 20. (230) A.J. Burnett SP 21. (251) Johnny Estrada C I've never done a 5x5 league, I've only played in modified leagues (giving more weight to OBP and SLG and less to SB). I'm generally happy with my offense. I think it's balanced, but I don't really know since I've never played in this type of league. I don't really like my P at all. I feel like I should deal Young (or one of my 3 SS) for better SP. Once the season gets underway and it's clear who will be closing for some teams, I'll add another closer. Appreciate any thoughts and/or advice.
  5. Seriously, how do some people get in twice before I can get in once? I've been in since 10:30 Eastern with no luck and some people have already been through twice?
  6. That would help, but even high strikeout pitchers are going to throw a lot of pitches. Z has thrown a lot of pitches recently. He's been remarkably healthy, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's immune to overwork. Especially if they sign him to a long-term deal before the season, I'd like to see his workload cut back this season.
  7. Really? That would be unfair to Todd, IMO. Arbitration is a process the owners agreed to have in place. Doesn't seem right that a team would harbor ill will when a player wins. Agree, but I'm sure there are some people in front office positions that get bent out of shape about it. How that might impact a guy's playing time, I don't know. On the other hand, I'm sure there are some players who get a bit upset about listening to their team point out all the reasons they shouldn't be paid what they're asking (if you were SD and wanted Walker to get paid less, wouldn't you bring up his age and the fact that he's likely to decline and his rep for bad defense?).
  8. Maybe we can trade Izturis to SD for Walker...(I realize this isn't a realistic possibility)
  9. Well, if the last team doesn't sign up soon, I think they should lose their spot. No one else has expressed interest here and I have a friend who has done fantasy baseball once more and would probably like to play. Unless you guys object, I'll invite him if the last spot isn't filled by tomorrow. I want to make sure that we have all 10 teams so 1 team doesn't have a bye every week, which must be really boring.
  10. We still have just 9 teams. I counted again, and I sent out 9 PMs, so there should be 10 total teams. Whichever poster didn't sign up, if you are no longer interested, please post a response here so that we can fill the 10th spot.
  11. Well they are all public or winners leauges...and I've never found a way to get multiple teams into a public league. For the record, I was trying to find a way to get me and my stepdad in the same public league...and it didnt work. That said, it's really not hard to finish at least top 3 in a public league. Half the teams are dead after the first month. Nonetheless, it is impressive. Just saying its quite possible to do. Yes impressive, but if you want to get several teams into the same public league....have several id's, signup for an obsure draft time, like 8 am, you will have little trouble getting into the same league if you try again with another id soon (me and a friend do it for practice drafts) In '06, that guy did have a team in 3 consecutively numbered Y! leagues...either really random or Garwilly has it right.
  12. If Shard is healthy, he is as good of a fantasy player as LeBron. I loved that deal, because I thought it really weakened Pistulls' great depth. While I agree that Shard is probably equal to LeBron when he's healthy, at the time of the trade, there was a Q as to how long Shard would be out and no guarantee about how good he would be when he got back. Might end up regretting that part, but if this league really continues next year and beyond, I don't think I'll regret acquiring LeBron (unless Shard is actually entering his prime and not just playing extra hard b/c it's his walk year). As for depth - meh. This is a relatively shallow league with only 8 guys. After that trade, added David West, who is likely to average about 20/9 with about 1 steal and 1 block per game with good %s for a PF. He's not DHow, but he shouldn't be sitting on the waiver wire either.
  13. 9 teams are signed up. A New Era - are you the one that can't get in? The PW is case-sensitive. Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you. Let me know if you still can't access the league.
  14. Yeah - traded away a few big guys this year (Okur, Dirk, TD, DHow) and none of the trades have really worked out in my favor. LeBron's foot isn't helping any (also didn't expect Lewis back quite so soon). Getting Pierce and Shaq back helps you a lot too.
  15. I've set the draft to March 4 at 1:30 Eastern. I'm not sure who hasn't signed up yet, but we only have 7 teams listed and there were 10 people who said they were interested. If you're interested, please check you pm for a message from me with the ID/PW. If you said you're interested, but aren't any more, please let us know so we can fill the spot.
  16. Few hours. I have no idea what your second question means. But the way it works is every eligible player is available at the start. Right before the draft, Y! will randomly assign a draft order and the team with first pick will draft a player. It's a "snake draft." So we'll go through all the teams (10 in our case) and the team with the 10th pick gets first pick in the 2nd round (called the sandwich pick). The team with the first overall pick won't pick again until the end of the 2nd round, then they'll have first pick in the 3rd round.
  17. 3/4 would work if it starts in the early afternoon (say 1:30 or so, Eastern).
  18. Then Y! has no credibility.
  19. As for the draft, I just picked a time. We can certainly change it. But it may not be possible for everyone to actually be online at the time. If you can't be there, you can just preset your rankings. It's not as fun, but coordinating 10 schedules might not be practical. If we can work out a time that works for everyone, great. Otherwise we'll just try to get as many as possible online and the rest will have to preset their rankings.
  20. I'll pass, I'd rather play roto. A New Era/GilesBros, you want in, then? Yes. Sorry I haven't been following this thread I've been trying to create a new league. But I'm in. Please let me know as soon as you see this. You should have a pm from me with the id & pw. If not, let me know.
  21. I don't know which team is "Go Cardinals" but now I know which team is going to get the last pick in the draft...
  22. I set up the league (NSBB 2007). I've sent the ID and password via pm to all the people who joined (including ANewEra, instead of Balsa who opted out). If you think you signed up but don't have a pm from me, let me know. If you go to the Y! fantasy homepage and click on "Sign Up Now" under baseball, there's a link to the right for Join a League under Baseball '07 (note - NOT BASEBALL PLUS - you have to pay for that one). On the next page, select Join Custom. Enter the League ID/Password. I set up the league for online draft to take place March 3 at noon EST. I just picked a time out of a hat b/c I had to enter one. We can move the draft time. Basically, with live online you can either enter preset rankings, and your team will be drafted for you during the draft, or you can participate live online. We'll try to pick a time that works for most people. Let me know if you have any trouble logging in to the league.
  23. Giambi always thinks of the team when he's shooting himself in the butt with HGH. Point being - of all the ways players act selfishly, I'm least concerned with hair length & facial hair. You can be a "team first" guy and still like to be an individual. Why does long hair and facial hair mean you're not a team player? The connection is totally lost on me.
  24. You have a point, I think it's purely a matter of choice. And I have no idea what's up with Y!. They still say fantasy baseball is "On Deck" and will be available 2/16. So when it's open, I'll create the league and let you all know.
  25. I do like Burke and think he could be good if given the chance. But I wouldn't be particularly optimistic if I were an Astros fan.
