  1. Ramirez. I know it's a drop in the bucket as far as correcting your posts, but come on man. Seriously you don't know who that is because of an "e". Add something to the thread or don't respond. I really don't feel the need to check spelling when the name can be spelled either way AND it doesn't change the meaning of the post NOR does it "hide" who is being talked about in the post. Now if we were dealing with a Rameriz and also a Ramirez and a Ramirez it would matter. Banedon is trying to make your posts more understandable. He's not adding something but he's trying to stop you from taking away so much from the thread. Think of it as driving in runs with his glove.
  2. I was told H2H when I started.
  3. Since July 31 lands on next Tuesday and I'll have the worst record on that date (or at worst be tied with Tim who beat me head to head), I have the first overall pick, right? I just want to know that this 4 months of crap wasn't a total waste.
  4. Calvinball gets Toots 3rd and 8th rounder Toots gets CB's 10th rounder in the Hill deal.
  5. I have 4 reserves bc I have only 6 pitchers in my lineup. That's not an illegal roster bc I'm not above the 22 limit. I don't care if a guy wants to sit a shaky starter so he has more reserves. The issue is having more than 22 players and ignoring the big red letters.
  6. Stalking is how recruiting works. It'd be good if the kids has to formally express an interest in a transfer before other coaches could contact them though.
  7. Yes I think that's right. There are still big red letters that tell you when you have too many players on your roster. This shouldn't be hard. I think he should get 0 points for every day he's had too many players.
  8. I don't understand why it's so hard to drop a player whenever you add one? How do we keep having this problem?
  9. yeah, I'd have objected if i'd known about this. playing Lawrie at 2B and ARod at 3B is a pretty huge advantage. CBS sucks.
  10. CB Douglas just switched his commitment to Michigan. There were some pretty bad (for PSU) quotes from a couple other commits over the last couple of days. It's been less than a week. I'm not sure you can draw any conclusions about guys jumping ship or not yet.
  11. If he's not 2B eligible in cbs and hasn't played there all year, why should he be available at 2B?
  12. Players available for draft picks: Aaron Hill - top-5 2B over the last month Paul Maholm - top 2 pitcher over the last month Soriano - top 20 OF over the last month Colby Rasmus - top 20 OF for the year thanks to a hot second half Marmol and Putz for anyone looking for a closer
  13. Has to be erased, I'd think.
  14. oops http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--hurricanes-coach-al-golden-s-staff-used-booster-s-associate-in-potential-recruiting-violations.html Al Golden took the values he learned at PSU with him to UM.
  15. Is anyone else not seeing any points for anyone right now? n/m, seems ok now
  16. If that counts (and it probably shouldn't, because the obvious implication is favorite over-the-top deadline moves) but a big freaking star next to the Sean Marshall fleecing. And that was the second best trade of last offseason. TYLER COLVIN IS A GOD, RAISIN
  17. I think it's entirely feasible that GMs and other "baseball people" are still hung up on Soriano's reputation (albatross contract, old, bad) and simply won't accept that he's apparently a different player now. It's the same idea as people still assuming that Jeter is a great defensive SS now because he was 5 years ago, whether he really is now or not. When you get a reputation, either good or bad, it's really hard to get rid of it and I think you're probably right that that's having a negative impact on getting interest in Soriano. Was jeter really ever a great defensive SS?
  18. Smyly back to DL so I added Soriano.
  19. Fewer plays means more variance means underdogs have a better chance of winning means Calvinball OFF THE SCHNEID
  20. Let's keep the sandusky and paterno stuff in the thread in rants.
  21. There's no way Jed is on the phone with another GM and says "sounds good, let me ask my boss." If that's how it goes, the other GMs would just talk to Theo. Jed knows what's acceptable and what's not or he wouldn't have the job. Of course Jed wouldn't say "sounds good, let me ask my boss." , he would say "I'll get back to you." When Theo was hired, he was given complete autonomy over all baseball operations and decisions. Also, let's not forget that Theo could not leave the Red Sox for a parallel position (GM), which is why he was given the promotional title with the Cubs. Make no mistake about it Theo is in charge of making any serious deals that will be made. That doesn't make a lot of sense. Jed goes into discussions knowing the targets and what he can give up. If something is outside that range, I'm sure he discusses it with Theo. But the GM is not just a glorified secretary.
