  1. What is his SB% now? Can't be real good. Was the pitch to DLee that bad?
  2. He does need some atonement for the error last inning.
  3. Just watched the play on gameday highlights. Holy crap he went a long way to get that. I don't think there's a lot of CFs that get to that ball and one of the few is on the Cubs bench tonight
  4. I don't think he had that bad of a day yesterday. He got robbed on a great play up the middle by Tulo in the 1st and then killed the rally in the 8th (I think) by lining into the DP. He made good contact at least twice but was unlucky. Not that I'm in favor of him playing all the time, I'm just sayin'.
  5. That works for me. However, there's no way Lou bats Ronny at 2 and Theriot at 8. It'll be the other way around if that's who's in the lineup.
  6. I'm listening on Gameday audio. It doesn't sound like Uecker doing the PBP. Doesn't he still do that for the Brewers?
  7. Actually, you couldn't have an at-bat, a walk, and have an OPS of 1.000. Pretty sure he meant a PA, not an AB.
  8. So, in the bottom of the 4th in Milwaukee, the Brewers have already run into the 1st out of the inning trying to stretch a double into a triple and gotten picked off of 1st. This was then followed by a walk. That OBP is worthless if you continue to be dumb. Maybe Yost isn't the only thing that will keep them from winning.
  9. You sound like a jilted lover! I was wondering how you'd feel about this, well....how do you feel about this? Don't really care. His time came and went. He is a smart guy, but isn't embracing this new era of player development. His success was based largely on 75 cent on the dollar trades like Edmonds, McGwire, Woody Williams, Darryl Kile and Rolen. Those just don't happen anymore. In a market like Cincinnati, I don't see him having much success unless it is despite himself. And this is why we like wolf. That's about as succinctly as you can sum up Jocketty's way of doing things. His lack of vision in terms of prospect and building a team have killed the Cards and their farm system. Unfortunately for Cubs fans, they now have some people in the FO who have a clue.
  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-23-cubs-bits-chicagoapr23,1,1554632.story
  11. I honestly don't think it will, considering Jocketty was fired by St. Louis for not embracing some of the new school thinking in developing their farm system and team. He and Dusty are a match made in heaven for each other.
  12. Just announced on 1380 in St. Louis per the Cincinatti Enquirer (?). News conference this afternoon. Edit: Confirmed by ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3363283
  13. I think these are totally different situations. On one hand you've got Cedeno, a young guy who may be coming into his own as a productive ML player, and on the other you've got veterans who you know about what you're going to get out of them. It's totally different to give a young guy a starting spot over another somewhat young guy than it is to bump a young guy like Felix or Hill for somebody like Johnson or Lieber on a permanent basis. You've also got a huge difference in ceilings of the young payers you're talking about at this point in time.
  14. My theory on that is this: so many guys on base, eventually somebody's gonna knock 'em in. If they have 20 guys on base every game, they only have to get 4-5 of them in to win most of the time. I'll take it.
  15. isnt his elbow screwed up? Why would tony do that? If you are going to stick someone at 2nd who can't play it, wouldn't you go with someone other than your franchise player? If it was me, I'd have put Schumaker at 2B (he played SS and 2B in college) and Larue in left, leaving Pujols and his gimpy arm at 1B.
  16. Well, his WHIP for the day was 1.33 and considering how well the Mets had done thus far against lefties, I'd say he took a major step in the right direction today. I'm kind of glad Lou left him in there to get it figured out.
  17. I think the increased depth of the lineup has had a significant effect on how they all approach their at bats. They don't all feel like, "If I don't get it done here, it won't happen at all". They are confident that the guy behind them will get it done and are willing to wait for a pitch they can do something with and that results in a walk or getting a good swing on a pitch to their liking. We saw a little of the old approach last night in DeRo and Soto's ABs. Hopefully that was an abberration and they won't revert back to ABs like that.
  18. Wouldn't that be the answer to what do Jim Edmonds and Paris Hilton have in common? Double Winnar!!!
  19. Based on the way people talk about the situation around here, and his slump after the HGH stuff at the end of last year, it sounds like the Cards are still very concerned about his mental state and there's just about no way they would try to put him on the mound, even in a blowout situation for a couple of batters. I just think they are so afraid of what being back on the mound might do to him there's no way they would take a chance on screwing up all the progress he's made at the plate.
  20. U said taint 3 times in 2 sentences. I found it funnier than I should have.
  21. However, the reason most people can't ahieve that size on their own is that your muscles are unable to recover quickly enough for you to continue working out at the level required to get that big. Which is why a 30-40 pound muscle gain over a 4-6 year period isn't unusual, but when you do that in 2 years it's a bit unusual. Just an aside to the thought, not saying anything inparticular about Sammy, although I am of the opinion that he partook in something less than legal.
  22. 1. While I agree that LaRussa is a complete douche and does micromanage the snot out of his teams, he is very intelligent and does get more out of his teams than most other managers would. Therefore, not overrated. 2. Do you know anything about the Cards new management team? The guy who replaced Jocketty has already gotten rid of the albatross of Scott Rolen without paying any of his contract and was given the job because unlike Jocketty, he understands the value of sabermetrics and is willing to work with the Cardinals scouting and development people to bring in guys who aren't old broken down veterans. 3. Dave Duncan is still Dave Duncan and still, for whatever reason, can get good performances out of historically craptatastic pitchers. With that said, trust me, nobody is rooting harder than me for them to realize they aren't good and start to crap the bed. Hopefully we saw the beginning of that this weekend with them getting beat twice by the Giants. But get your facts straight, at this point I would much rather have the Cards front office in Chicago than the on we've got.
  23. FYI, Giants now up 8-0, Looper out and Reyes is pitching. I think Reyes gave up the last 2 runs.
