  1. @Jason Ross any thoughts in particular on Hollowell? The funk and velocity are nice but the raw numbers in Iowa aren't great and he got squared up pretty well by the last 2 hitters he faced last night.
  2. I'm very much in favor of a trade back option but unless another team really has a specific target in mind, it may be pretty tough to do because of the way this draft board looks. I'd love to drop back to 16-20 and still get a very good player and pick up a 3rd round pick this year because there's likely to be some back of the first round graded players still on the board based on what all the experts are saying.
  3. Sounds like a pen game based on reports from the Score this morning.
  4. He was definitely working from the first base side last night. I missed the 8th and 9th innings and went back and watched this morning because I was curious to see what he looked like.
  5. Do you have a subscription to get the graphics?
  6. It sounds like most teams are valuing those 2nd and 3rd round picks decently higher than they would most years because the talent level from say, pick 10 to like pick 60/70 is a huge cluster of similarly rated players who would likely be back end of the first round picks in a lot of years. All that to say the chart may not be a good barometer for this year based on the way the board is falling.
  7. Living in STL, I just watch the Cubs on MLBTV and get what I get for the other sports. The ESPN+ option is great for the Blackhawks but they've been so bad I rarely bother. If I was a STL fan, I'd have set up something more permanent to just stream the games on a pirated feed because none of the local teams are available without subscribing to a separate streaming service or having wired cable. It's just insane that those are the only routes to go and a ton of people locally have gotten rid of Spectrum completely if they have access to AT&T fiber because the Spectrum internet service is so spotty. One thing that absolutely cracks me up is the total uproar when the Cardinals are on YouTube or Apple TV (completely for free by the way) because all the old red assed morons can't figure out how to work any of their electronics.
  8. As silly as you're being, I legit think making the court like 10' longer and 4' wider would immensely improve things because there would be so much more space on the floor for these giants to operate. I mean, you rarely had more than 2 guys from each team on the court who were taller than like 6'6" 30 years ago and now it's rare for either team to have more than one guy who's less than that on the floor at a time.
  9. I would argue that the basketball isn't the best that's ever been played, but the guys playing it are by far the best who have ever played. The number of guys who are like 6'10", can handle the ball like a PG, and shoot it like the best of the off guards of old is absolutely insane. Not to mention we're coming off an 8-10 year period where a 6'2" guard dominated the game because he's the best to ever shoot a basketball.
  10. Same thing at Kansas and a few other schools. It's absolutely wild.
  11. The problem with all of this is twofold: 1. Jerry will never sell. 2. Even if he does sell "most" of his share, the way the agreement is written is that he's the managing partner of the ownership group, so no matter if he owns a majority or not (he currently doesn't, Ishbia owns the limit of 35% a single shareholder can have per the agreement in place and Jerry owns around 20%), Jerry is still the sole decision maker for the franchise and I would bet that will have to be pried from his cold, dead hands. The Sox are screwed until he dies.
  12. A lot of Biggio influence in the set up and follow through to my eye.
  13. Strike 3 to Naylor from Palencia was an absolutely nasty pitch. 101 on the black on a pitch that started 4-5" inside to a lefty. That was the most dominant inning a Cubs reliever has thrown all season.
  14. The Brewers getting 5 WAR from a Padres player seems unfair. Probably why they won the division. 😜
  15. I have bad news for you........
  16. I think they'd be stupid to not pick Will Riley if they're at the 12 spot. Kid is raw but he's a great shooter, he gets to the rim, handles it well and while Jakucionas got all the hype for Illinois this year, Riley was a better player from my perspective. You get a little more muscle on him and he's a legit shooting guard in the NBA for a long time.
  17. I think he starts and they get as much as they can out of him and then figure it out from there. Rea is listed as the starter but how valuable would it have been to have him available yesterday to eat a couple innings instead of having Little go out there and horsefeathers the bed?
  18. This is exactly it though. He's clearly not quite ready yet, for a contending team anyway, and he needs the developmental time to refine the pitches/knock the rust off, however you want to couch it, and gain the stamina to hold that 96 mph velocity through 90-100 pitches. It's not wasted bullets in AAA if there's some real developmental work going on to get him to the point they need him to be effective in the bigs.
  19. Against a LH pitcher in that spot? Unquestionably vs whatever else is left on the bench. Amaya is sort of reverse splits and I think everyone else is a lefty.
  20. Cubs getting consistently screwed here. Strike 3 to Dansby was right but there have been a number of misses in the Padres favor today.
  21. The walk was bad but both runs being driven in on balls that didn't or barely got through the infield is some bad BABIP luck.
  22. These teams both seem to be in a hurry to get this one over today. Lotta early swings.
  23. I'm curious how this even happens. 😂
