  1. Has he been unlucky? The BAA and K:BB look pretty solid to see the ERA that high.
  2. I'm not optimistic on how Rammy's shoulder is going to respond, at least this season. After seeing how much Rolen struggled when he hurt his left shoulder, plus knowing how unstable the shoulder joint is from personal experience, I'm inclined to keep Vitters around because he's more likely to be needed sooner rather than later. I don't think the shoulder will be an ongoing problem in terms of playing 3rd base, but as violent as his swing can be and all the torque that puts on the front shoulder when you swing, that's what really concerns me. Therefore, (I just wanted to sound official and important there) if it takes Vitters to get Peavy, I say no way. If you can have a healthy Z, Harden, Lilly, and Demp going into the playoffs, there's plenty of pitching there if they can actually score a run here or there.
  3. Here's the article from the P-D about Greene. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/7D9C121C79320D1C862575BB001370FC?OpenDocument
  4. They were talking about him having social anxiety order this morning on the radio. I had no idea that he had an issue like that. Could be a huge part of the problem.
  5. He did throw a sim game the other day and I've heard he'll be on a 75-80 max pitch count. I don't know how accurate the PC number is, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to bring him back to pitch 4-5 innings with an already over worked bullpen.
  6. This makes no sense, unless you think that it's all psychological for closers. I think it's a much bigger factor than people think for guys who don't have ridiculous stuff. Guys like Gregg, Borowski, Ryan Franklin, may need that adrenaline boost to be completely effective.
  7. Was that as far outside as gameday showed?
  8. Im going to guess the guy on your avatar. No, he has an ERA of 6. Wuertz?
  9. If that's the reason it's being done then that's totally legit with the way the Cards have struggled against lefties thus far. That's about the only reason I would find acceptable for the change.
  10. Haven't the Cubs had a top 5 NL payroll for Hendry's entire tenure? No. The Cubs are 3rd in payroll this year, but before that were no higher than 7th. I posted earlier in this thread a breakdown of every year the Cubs have had higher than a $90 million payroll (since 2006) and outside of this year they were 7th once and 8th twice in that time span. I think you missed a part of his question.
  11. I've been through exactly what Ramirez is going through (with the exception that I'm not a pro-athlete obviously) and everything Carroll is saying is everything my doctor told me. They'll use the thermal procedure if they can because that will leave him with the greatest range of motion. If the surgery has to be more invasive because the capsule is too loose for that option, then Aramis is frankly, in trouble because the older / more active you are the more likley your shoulder will continue to come out of socket if that capsule remains loose. Yes, this. To say Carroll is a clown when you don't know anything about the procedure/injury or how it really affects the shoulder long term is pretty silly. I unfortunately trashed my shoulder before scoping it became the norm for repair and have crap for range of motion now. I'm just hoping they can get it rehabbed for the season and get him back in there close to 100%, but once this happens the likelihood of it continuing to happen are pretty high, and man does it suck when it does.
  12. Anybody have a quick rundown on Ascanio's stuff? Gameday showing him throwng FB, curve, slider, and change. What's his out pitch? Looks like he throws the change with a lot of confidence and for strikes so far.
  13. Looks like at the very least Ascanio will throw strikes.
  14. Vitters has a .308/.348/.449 line so far this year. Wieters has not been called up. His line in AAA is .263/.366/.368. Peoria is A-ball right? With Boise & Daytona being low-A ? Boise is short season rookie ball, Peoria is low A, and Daytona is high A
  15. I'm amused by the fact that the Cubs have more runs than hits right now and also have as many walks as hits. I'm thinking we get an inning of Ascanio and an inning of Patton here to finish it up.
  16. Yep, 15 day DL for the hamstring.
  17. 83 according to gameday Thanks. Did you end up checking out that microfest deal? nope, did you? No, too much other crap going on. Like preparing for the baby's 1st birthday when the whole fam damily will be in town. Our basement is still in shambles from flooding last year.

  19. Why you wouldn't just throw fastballs down the middle as hard as you can to DLee at this point I have no idea.
  20. I don't care if he sends Zambrano to first, someone else needs to play. Lee is a parody of himself right now. I'm really beginning to think the physical part of it isn't the whole story for Lee. I think he's shown a whole lot of decline not just since the wrist, but since his daughter got diagnosed with that disorder. I think he may not be fully focused on the game, which would be completely understandable. Just a theory. In a pre-game interview on 720 with judd serott, Lee said that it was actually a misdiagnosis, and that his daughter does not actually have that disease, and her sight is no longer degenerating. So it's not that. Well, I guess that's really good news for him. Unfortunately it doesn't change his current suckitude at baseball.

  22. Bankart lesion = labrum problem. Speaking from experience, this is going to be an ongoing problem until he gets it fixed surgically. Let's hope Carroll is wrong, but even if he's not, I have a hard time believing it'll be less than 8 weeks.
  23. Harang just knocked in 2 for the Reds and they're up 6-2 now.
  24. Reds just took the lead 4-2 over the Cards and still have 1st and 2nd with 1 out.
