  1. I don't recall that being something that was expressed here. There were concerns, yes, especially after the disaster the football season was with a similar coaching hire. I think most, myself included, were hopefully optimistic considering the combination of his recruiting successes and the consistent uptick in wins at Ohio. Nobody was jumping up and down excited, but I don't recall many ready to jump off a bridge about it. Someone called it a disaster and someone else wanted Frank Martin. The former is an over reactor and the latter is a moron.

  3. Up front? Probably very few. But that's what bonds are for right? And like David said, they just got $100 million from Mesa for a complex occupied by major leaguers 1 month out of the year.
  4. Tom Coverdale. Annoying IU guard from the improbably final four run under Mike Davis.
  5. SOMEONE GOT FAAAAAAAAT Yeah, I had to look at the picture details to make sure that's who it was because he's nearly unrecognizable at George Foreman weight.
  6. Same here. This really does clear the path even more for OSU too. I have them, MSU, IU and Kansas in the Final Four.
  7. Um, yeah, they kind of were. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1623962 Okay, you go ahead with that theory. Again, take the pitcher and I'll take the hitter and I will win a lot more than you. Generally I agree with you, just not in this specific case with the facts in hand at the time of the draft.
  8. Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel. Most of their awfulness can be attributed to astronomically bad QB play and a coach who has now proven to be incompetent as a head coach on several occasions. Most teams in the league would lave to have the o line, WR, and RB combo they have.
  9. Um, yeah, they kind of were. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1623962
  10. Yep, the guy that I was basing my pick on played like complete crap. Bucknell's big man couldn't get that little lefty hook to drop all game and it screwed me.
  11. Really? He came from KC and that is a talentless waste hole of an organization. I mean, I think there's some good about his history, but "anything you can read"? Come on. The guy was a strength coach at second rate colleges for most of his career. He's had a relatively brief history in the NFL. There's plenty to question about him. Not the best measure in the world, but how can you say a team that just had 6 Pro Bowlers is a talentless waste hole of an organization?
  12. My Bucknell pick is looking more promising. Go Bison!
  13. Yep, and it sounds like it was absolutely awful. Certainly prevented him from ever being a SS again: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-11-17/sports/ct-spt-1118-haugh-cubs-chicago--20111118_1_dale-sveum-brewers-manager-tom-trebelhorn-prince-fielder
  14. He was an obvious pick, not a good one. Teixeira was the pick they should have made that year. Hands down, no questions asked. If he was drafted as a 1B, I couldn't disagree with you more. If there was a thought he could stick at 3B or in the OF, I might agree with that. Top flight arms are so hard to find (and keep healthy) that when you have an opportunity like Prior, with his perfect mechanics and great stuff, I just don't think you can chance passing it up. You can build a solid offense without a super elite bat, but it's tough to win big without that TOR arm.
  15. They were allowed into the most prestigious football conference in the country. I'm not sure what else my reaction should be. Not become a brain dead toothless idiot like much of the rest of the conference's fans?
  16. So most of Missouri isn't supporting Mizzou? Only like 2 or 3 counties in MO are for SEC. That looks like it's probably old data being used from when Mizzou was in the Big 12. Either that or whoever put that together doesn't know they're in the SEC now.
  17. Top 10 team when they feel like playing. Lot of size. Fortunately for other teams they haven't played with any urgency (outside of the IU game) in a month. Are they athletic? Up front they're very athletic, especially Mbakwe.
  18. Whoever was giving me crap about SLU, Gottlieb just agreed with me. I think they're going to wreak havoc. They're more athletic than they seem, they have upper class men, and play great defense. Unfortunate they get Louisville if they get to the 16, the quickness of their guards may cause them problems.
  19. That is a bear of a bottom half between MSU and Duke. Tough draw for Louisville as far as the Final Four goes. Shouldn't the #1 overall get the wort #2 and best #3? I'd be surprised if Duke got bumped all the way down to #8 overall on the S curve.
  20. Duke knocked back to the 2 line. That should guarantee IU a 1.
  21. I keep wondering if there's a logical reason they're so successful within the conference every year and yet so lousy outside of it. Because they're allowed to anally violate their opponents in conference play without repercussion and don't get away with it in non-con games.
  22. I'd bet it has less to do with market than it does ability to adequately pass a physical.
  23. Then I'm confused, because I don't see them in your current top 16, which is where I think they should be. I like St. Louis' resume, probably more than most here, but I don't agree. Who in that top 16 should be bumped for SLU? Not a big believer in K State or Syracuse at this point and Wisconsin has been playing like crap lately. Add in the fact that SLU was missing their senior PG for the first 11 or 12 games of the season and has now won 13 of 14 (I think) and you have a pretty legitimate case. Also, Butler isn't a top 50 team any more?

  25. Sounds like the Dbacks have sent Peralta back according to Brett at BN.
