    Agreed. It's really hard for me to dislike anybody who's about to take out the Heat, but the Spurs just do everything so right they're just pretty hard not to, at a minimum, respect and just outright like.

    Baseball is so weird. How do we keep finding guys like Arrieta and Hammel and Rizzo and still turning in completely turd-plop seasons? Because there's never more than 3 guys in the lineup who aren't terrible hitters?

    Shouldn't be that much longer. Castro, Bryant, Rizzo and ... I'm out of ideas. Go check Valbuena's numbers.

    That's not correct. His May was better than April and he was on fire (10 for his last 25) until yesterday. Looked too quickly. I saw the avg was way down and missed the overall May numbers, but June hasn't been good for him. April .299 .315 .540 .855 May .265 .318 .539 .857 June .238 .273 .405 .677

    Alcantara's numbers have trended downward each month, so I'm not a proponent of bringing him up right now. There just really aren't any options that are even decent down there right now. If Barney can look less incompetent at the plate, then he's the best of a bunch of bad options.

    That's fine, but we need someone besides Barney at 2B. Valbuena can play there too. Bringing up Watkins, who is worse than Barney in pretty much every respect, doesn't do much to help the problem of Barney being bad(and Barney has been fine in the last month or so).     Well, Hammel has gotten tagged tonight but did get a little justice that inning since the 2 runners they had had no business being on base.

    ? I know I'm missing a joke here IU fans were sure that Harris was a lock for them and then he picked MSU. SSR's been using that joke for years now. I'm disappointed in both of you.

    Are players who run hard all the time hurting the club? That's the necessary corollary to your statement. If they hurt themselves or burn out and can play 5-10 less games per year? Yes, especially when the replacement option is Darwin freaking Barney. This is an asinine argument to make. Castro running the bases hard every time or getting an extra base is such a minute part of his overall value to the team that anybody who really gives a damn about the team couldn't care less about how hard he runs down to first on a groundout. Criticizing him for not going first to third on a single is an entirely different point, but not running out a grounder is completely missing the point of having a reliable 160 game SS.

    Bonifacio isn't great, but at least he has a clue what he's doing at the plate.

    Well, I can say with great certainty that I'm tired of Yelich already. That Arrieta curve is nasty when it's on.

    Rizzo and Castro playing much better than last year, bullpen use has seemed pretty reasonable (although it helps when you have actual useful options back there) and the bunting has dropped off a bit. I haven't been real excited about some of the running they've done recently on the bases, but overall I think he's a vast improvement over Sveum and I give him a positive review thus far.

    Lake in the two spot and Valbuena 5th seems backwards. I'm actually okay with this alignment because it doesn't go immediate black hole if the pitcher manages to get by Rizzo and Castro without and damage done. Having that gaping hole in the 5 spot has been killing them and while Luis doesn't hit for much average, I at least feel like we have a chance when he's up there.

    I was watching on MLBN and it wasn't really too awful. Trout hit a changeup about 400 ft after fouling off some good FB. Sale shouldn't have even come out for the 8th. He was just shy of 100 pitches and had given up a couple solid hits to end the 7th.

    Pretty sure there won't be any starting pitchers.

    The rest of it is idiotic, but I don't see a big problem with Lee's usage. He had one outlier in that string and the rest have been pretty reasonable. I'm glad he's not here though.

    Solid FB, good slider, teach the kid a cutter and there's no reason he can't be a very good starter. I really think there's a lot to the low mileage on the arm with this pick as well as room for improvement with his lack of experience pitching.
