  1. I don't believe this is the case. Best of my knowledge, tt would be unprecedented in an MLB contract to grant arbitration rights to a player who is less than a Super 2. I'm not even sure how it would work since arbitration relies on comparables, and Soler's 1 year+ comparables would all be making the league minimum(or close to it) He can't just pick arbitration if he thinks his salary would be higher. He has to get to arbitration eligibility and at that point if he thinks he can get more in arbitration, he can file then. Basically, the contract was written the way it was to offer both sides some protection if he completely flopped. Soler gets a decent amount of guaranteed money, but the Cubs didn't have to fork over a big signing bonus because of PTR and they got long term control of him.
  2. I think it's just that white kids are doing this now What? No, this has been a thing since I was in high school and I graduated 20 years ago. And I went to a high school in a small town that had like 350 students total.
  3. Darvish was going to be my first pick on that list considering he's gotten to that number in ~2.5 seasons. I think Sale's arm may fall off and really don't have an opinion on the other 2 either way. I'd probably add Wainwright to that list if I hadn't just heard about how far down his velocity is.
  4. -2
  5. .850 OPS is good in a hitters league right? Even if the power never truly manifests itself, he can be Mark Grace with less glove and be a pretty valuable piece anyway.

  7. Somebody tell me something about this Caleb Joseph cat from the Orioles.
  8. I'm watching the game on DVR an very much enjoyed the little bit of pimping the HR Castro did.
  9. Why do people think Russell will be up after a month next year? He hasn't even seen AAA.
  10. Underwood and Tseng at Daytona and McKinney in AA all as 20 year olds next season should be fun. Any chance Tseng skips Daytona as dominant as he's been in KC?
  11. Home Runs for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Also, the game looks like it may start in a rain delay. I don't think that's possible.
  13. Pippen took a team of nobody but him and Kukoc to the ECF and should have gone to the finals if not for a phantom foul call. Kukoc was really good and Grant was solid, but that team had absolutely nothing else. Pippen was absolutely great. Now, I think you can certainly question how great he would have been had he not been "tutored" by Jordan, because I think he was one of a few guys Jordan actually helped improve instead of just breaking them like he did most of his teammates (Rodney McRay in particular comes to mind).
  14. I don't know, Almora would seem to be the most expendable of the prospects out there since Alcantara can play aseemingly solid CF. He's also the farthest from being ready. Losing him wouldn't bother me much in a deal for Hamels. I'm just not sold on him being able to adjust his approach and not swing at everything.
  15. Hendricks would never make it through waivers. Wouldn't Soler have to get through as well since he's on the 40 man?
  16. Olt, Ramirez and who's the last one?
  17. Meh, it's Coors and his most important pitch isn't working like it's supposed to because of it. We'll score more off this dude anyway.
  18. This. I'm not worried about the likes of Martellus turning on Trestman. His approach is bound to fail on a few guys but they'll probably turn around once they realize the potential cost to futures earning. As long as Jay meshes with him I'm good. Yep, if these guys, especially the offense, are putting up numbers and having success, they will most definitely keep their mouths shut, win games and make themselves a bunch of money. If they're not winning, then the equation becomes completely different.
  19. What's this now? DL A 60 man DL? 60 day
  20. I've seen him twice, tonight and once in Peoria a couple years ago. He won both games with a HR.
  21. I hope Dusty just had a heart attack watching those runs cross the plate ON ALL WALKS!
  22. Well I don't know what to do You're independently wealthy so you should buy one for all of us.
  23. If you have a BluRay that gets MLBTV, it's way better anyway. I watch on my phone and tablet all the time when I'm not home.
  24. Santo's career fWAR = 70.9 Sosa's career fWAR = 60.3 In a similar amount of games played, Sosa would be right there with Santo, FWIW. Well that's kind of a huge qualifier isn't it? I mean if two guys average 20 HR/yr and one does it for 10 years and the other does it for 15, aren't you selling the 15 year guy short by saying the 10 year guy was just as good?
  25. I think there's a tendency to feel that way because we've seen Javy struggle and then adjust whereas with KB, he's just destroyed everything from the get go at each stop and hasn't really had that obvious adjustment period. Not that he hasn't made adjustments, just that his numbers haven't reflected that down period that Javy's have.
