  1. Well, they've done a hell of a job building a team for that park with 3 guys who are essentially CFs in their OF. Also, they lost out on a HR from Aramis early in the game that he hit to the deepest part of the park for an out.
  2. The Brewers' catcher's last name is Ashley and his wife's first name is also Ashley. Gotta love Deshaies.
  3. That was a ridiculous throw by Polanco to get the guy because he actually ran pretty hard down the line.

That's a rather silly exaggeration of what I've said. Some peripherals are proven to be predictive, others aren't. Like, for example... Line drive percentage. It's notoriously fickle and not particularly predictive except over insanely long samples (multiple years). An extreme good LD% and a high BABIP are measuring the *same luck*. If you see his AAA performance as an indication he's ready to be the starting 2b, fine. I think that's defensible. I think you're greatly misconstruing what most are saying here. No one (as far as I can see) is taking great stock in his ML numbers this year, but taking those into consideration along with the swing and approach changes that resulted in improved K and BB numbers at AAA over a larger sample size gives everyone a lot more hope than anybody could have hoped for after the disaster his call up last season was.
  5. Crazier ways to win a game have happened today. Not crazy at all, pathetic that a B1G team had to hang on for dear life like that against MTSU. Also, Utah is giving it to Oregon. Damn.
  6. You mean like they got the snap off but because they kicked it after the play clock hit zero the refs called delay of game? I think he's saying the other team called a TO to ice the kicker and they kicked it anyway, which led to the delay of game call.
  7. Woo hoo! Illinois beat MTSU by having them miss a last second FG for the win. So terrible.
  8. They have a better team so yes, the one game gives us a better chance than letting their superior lineup show up over several games. I don't agree with that at all. Pirates are at best marginally better offensively (18 more runs scored, 1 point higher OPS). They lost one of their best hitters. The Cubs offense includes many hitters who did not even start the year with the team. Their pitching depth is definitely better, which is what concerns me in the playoffs. I think he meant the Pirates are better than the Cards in this instance.
  9. I'll take the blame for this one. I turned it on just in time for the top of the 5th. And then this happened.
  10. yep, every time. That's why they've lost 90 games already this year. It's a travesty. More of a traveshamockery if you ask me.
  11. Oh really???? And it's Denorfia you dolt!
  12. Why weren't you being allowed on the train? Were you trying to get on without paying? I can't answer this question, but based on the other thread, I'm pretty sure he went hobo and jumped on a freight train to get home. While hammered.
  13. David, now doesn't that feel much better than your reverse jinx bull crap that you pull?
  14. Pretty sure most of them are getting that even without the leopards being involved.
  15. I'd swap LF/RF there, but other than that, yes.
  16. It's either a wonderful joke or he was so drunk he failed to spell Cravy correctly, as he is tonight's starter. I'll go with posted from phone and drunkenly didn't notice the autocorrect.
  17. I can get on board with this lineup. [tweet] [/tweet] Edit: Interesting no TLS despite Peralta's not good numbers against lefties.
  18. God I love Maddon. [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. Probably an unusual pick here, but I was at the game and Wrigley was just insane for the Saturday game in August against the Braves. Russell ties it with a dong in the 6th, Montero and Soler go back to back in the 8th to take a 2 run lead and put it away. I was hoarse for about 4 days afterwards.
  20. There was a much higher than normal amount of meatbally Cubs hate even at GRB today. They are generally fairly rational but man, it was rough over there today.
  21. Yeah, definitely some good insight on why the guys that hit did instead of using a PH. And man does he have the Cards fans panties in a bunch. He's just so damn good at his job.
  22. Is Cahill starting tomorrow? Yep, I think that's the plan, although it still says TBD on the Cubs MLB site.
  23. It's on a local station they may not get because they have DirecTV. My dad has an over the air antenna so he can get all of the games not on CSN and he lives about 20 minutes from there and has DirecTV.
  24. So, I don't know if this was shown or discussed on the Cubs broadcast, but on the cards they showed him screaming at the ump from the dugout and he was clearly telling him he wanted to meet him outside the stadium after the game to "discuss" things. I'm not sure how threatening to kick an umps ass isn't a suspendable offense when it's that obvious. Super classy and very Cardinal like move there, Lance.
  25. I wasn't sure what the hell he was doing there, but I enjoyed it nonetheless!
