  1. I'd complain, but Hendricks has gotten the same call all game, so i really can't. He's been pretty darn consistent.
  2. Yeah, he did a good job but wasn't particularly sharp. Especially with all the extra pitchers on the roster now.
  3. I thought that hit off the Under Armor part of the board live, which is still a pretty good poke. The fact it hit off the Toyota part is just ridiculous.
  4. Didn't he have a daughter with some medical problems? Vision issues maybe? Anybody know if she's doing well?
  5. Nah.... it's a 68 ounce bat. ;) That would help explain all the Ks certainly.
  6. Is Javy using one of Soler's bats? there's a 68 on the end of it.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Pirates lose, Cubs are 3 back of them. I feel so gross rooting for the Cardinals.
  9. Yep. The one he threw to Goldschmidt to K him the first time was just ridiculous. I thought it was a sinker or splitter until Len and JD called it a change when they did a slo mo of his grip. It was 91 mph and just disappeared in the last few feet before it hit the catcher's glove. Goldschmidt kind of gave a WTF look after he swung and missed.
  10. Yep, it's even worse when you live in the heart of hostile territory.
  11. Based on his comments, I'd think that if they gave him a little more than he'd get in arbitration next year, say $10-11MM, he'd be likely to give a discounted rate for the last few years. Maybe go $10, $13, $15, $16, $17 or something along those lines when at fair market value he'd likely be at $20MM+ those last 3 years. That's 5/$61 and I'd easily go more than that to not have to pay for those 35 and up years like TT said.
  12. I don't understand why people have a big problem with this. Especially now that Austin Jackson and his .767 OPS against lefties can we subbed in when TE opponent tries to play matchups. Previously it was Denofria and his ~.550 OPS against LHP that would hit in the heart of the Cubs order Is there a reason everyone spells his name wrong that I missed?
  13. Yeah, while he was healthy and running a style of offense that isn't sustainable in the NFL if you want your QB actually upright and in the lineup. He's toast.
  14. The last thing the Cards PBP guy said before the home run pitch was that the National's pitcher had an ERA of 11 something after throwing more than 18 pitches. The HR was on pitch 21 I believe. Matt Williams should be fired 2 months ago. Man, he's possibly worse than Dusty.
  15. Well, we're still owed a cheap one, because that was destroyed.
  16. Yep, that may have been the cheapest HR in Wrigley all year. I really can't blame Rodney much for that, especially when the hitter literally stops at 2nd because he doesn't actually believe the ball went out of the park.
  17. Man, that was an ugly display that inning.
  18. It's not that I've given up. It's that I don't care about getting home field nearly as much. I have this vision of the Cubs giving up a run in the first at Wrigley and the fans going into panic mode which is felt by the players who then get 2 hit in a loss and it screws up the entire core of players on this team to the point where they never accomplish anything. But I'm weird like that. Oh, I see you've been traumatized by Rich Hill as well.
  19. Seriously, you're talking about a guy who basically said he wasn't playing well because his teammates sucked. That's pretty much the opposite of leadership.
  20. Meaning what? There seems to be more people upset now that the Cubs didn't make a move for a pitcher than there were at the deadline. There especially seemed to be more last week when our shot at the division was marginally better. I'm pretty sure most were pretty pissed all we got was a middling (at best) 5th starter type and an iffy reliever. There was some understanding that there wasn't much to be had without giving up a king's ransom, but I don't think much of anybody was happy with what went down at the non-waiver deadline.
  21. Come on, 0-2 and you walk the bases loaded. Ick.
  22. So the extra 1-4 pitches Starlin would have made Chapman throw would tire him out? The main point was that I'd rather let my guys bat with the tying run on base Baserunners were 8 for 8 stealing on Chapman prior to that attempt. Hitters are 5 for 195 getting an XBH with a .196 average. SB + 1B is a much higher percentage play than 2B or 1B + 1B Normally I'd hate that call, which I did until I got this whole 8-8 stealing information. That makes it a much more palatable call for me, especially with the numbers against Chapman otherwise.
  23. Yeah he's been swinging at a lot of balls lately. Mostly off speed stuff low If were only a quick fix existed in the form of a night in the batting cages with his dad. He's only been getting off-speed stuff lately, too. The scouting report is out on him. STOP TYPING YOUR IDIOCY!!!!!!!
  24. Broncos traded their swing OT, Clark for a 7th round pick. No reason the Bears shouldn't have been in on that, especially with the Fox/Gase connection. The thing about moving Long to RT, is that then your RG will likely suck. It would be one thing if they went out and got Evan Mathis, who was on the market a few days ago to play RG. But if Long is at RT, you're still looking at Mills, Leno, or someone worse at RG. Isn't that an easier position to play and the likelihood of being a disaster there a whole lot less than at RT? I guess I feel like the fact that Long is looked at as a legitimate option to be good out there and one of those other guys can be decent/league average at RG, you're probably at a net gain overall right?
  25. TT really is the best. Agreed on the 50/50 ness of the call. If there wasn't a no hitter going, I'd bet 8-9 times out of 10 the home team gets a hit on that. As is, if the situation was reversed, I'd like to think I wouldn't be too upset about given the dominance of the rest of the outing.
