  1. If you guys haven't heard, I'm being told some places are talking about $80-100 cover charges and $15 12 oz beers in Wrigleyville. Assholes. I understand wanting to make money, but damn, that's ridiculous.
  2. I'm wondering this as well. Any suggestions from locals as to a good location? Is anyone planning on meeting anywhere? I'll be in town by around 1:00 or so Saturday and will be ready for whatever at that point.
  3. Looks official. [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. Cool article on Mallee. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/world-series-chicago-cubs-john-mallee-number-11-rosenthal-102416
  5. I think that was actually his brain and not his knee that is made of Popsicle sticks.
  6. If those guys are all hitting, man that's scary good.
  7. I mean, seriously, you barely have to be paying attention to know that's not even close to what's going to happen.
  8. Not to mention the fact that they didn't replace Bauer because they need him to start in the World series. He kinda blew it on that one.
  9. The extra days off will probably mitigate most of that effect. They will have been off for 5 full days between the LCS and World Series. Well, I meant start to wear down with in a series not between. If we could knock out Kluber quickly, I could see their staff falling like dominoes as the series progressed. Look at Kershaw. He was on normal rest and he couldn't get his breaking pitch to work, part weather, and I'd guess, part fatigue Gotcha. That certainly makes more sense. And would be an even bigger advantage for the Cubs is Game 2 does get bumped to Thursday and there are 4 consecutive games, as someone else mentioned earlier.
  10. For three series in a row? It seems like the bullpen would start to wear down, and as soon as one pitcher did wear down the flood gates open The extra days off will probably mitigate most of that effect. They will have been off for 5 full days between the LCS and World Series.
  11. Or they misunderstood him and he said seventh.
  12. It looks like I can take Tinley Park to LaSalle and pick up the Red Line at Harold Washington. It's been years since I was last in Chicago. Anyone know if the times will work for leaving Wrigley that night? Am I looking at spending the middle of the night at Wrigley or taking a taxi back? I've got a room booked near the Rosemont blue line stop. Those run past 3 am so I'm not worried about getting out that way late. Hotels are relatively cheap around there as well.
  13. Yep, that was the first thing I noticed as well.
  14. He didn't really confirm or deny anything. Basically just said they hadn't made the decisions yet.
  15. That was absolutely perfect! I especially liked the musical crescendos as Rizzo and Contreras made contact with their homeruns.
  16. Oh, also the game is being replayed on MLBN right now and Willy just went deeeeeep.
  17. I'm not going to take the time to find the spot in the thread, but when Addy doubled in the 2nd, he did this little motorcycle revving thing toward the dugout. They all just have so damn much fun out there.
  18. At the very least, Sunday. Trying to figure out how to get there for the rest of the weekend.
  19. As I sit here watching the post game, drinking an amazing beer (BCS Regal Rye), with an amazing lady waiting for me to come to bed, having just watched the most amazing Cubs team of my lifetime finally break through, I feel so lucky to have just watched that game and at the same time feel so, I'm not even sure what the words should be, for all the people I've known who never got to see this. I went to a Cubs Reds game on the day my grandfather passed away in the last week of the 2004 season and wish more than anything that he could be here to see it. I'll see you all on Sunday. I'll be damned if I'm missing out on another party like tonight.
  20. Once upon a time, WGN broadcast 150 Cub games a year. I spent a lot of summers from 1983-1990 tuned in. Same here and exact same era. I Fell in love with the game of baseball, Wrigley field and the Chicago Cubs in 1984 as a 5 year old. I would come home from school and watch Cubs play day games on WGN. The team, the uniforms, the broadcast, even the spirit of 76 commercials... extremely sentimental. I'm so freaking emotional right now. I turned 8 that summer. I watched every damn day and knew that team like the back of my hand. I've been all in ever since.
  21. Damn. Just let him finish it. He'll have an extra day before his next start anyway.
  22. I've always wondered why a guy who is supposedly such a great athlete looks so damn jerky jerky at everything he does.
