  1. Who else did you think would catch? Jake Fox.
  2. In fairness, he did hit the ball all the way into the outfield.
  3. Bob is not very smart.
  4. Against Houston no less if memory serves Yep.
  5. When is the last time a Cubs catcher had a triple? koyie had 2 last year according to len and bob Soto had 1 last year and 2 in 08' FWIW. Soto had an inside-the-park homerun in 2008.
  6. He's gassed from the double earlier in the day.
  7. Clean-cut white guy. Not my type, but to each his own.
  8. Since we're using OPS in this thread, everyone ought to consider that the 1998 Astros played half their games in the Astrodome, a park that was not friendly to hitters. The Rays play in a fairly neutral stadium. I forgot just how good that 98 Astros team was.
  9. Only scattered single tickets remain for the White Sox series and July 24 vs the Cardinals.
  10. That doesn't matter. At all. The traditional lineup is nowhere near optimized... at all. It takes players who are not among your best hitters and gives them the most plate appearances on the team. This is due to an overemphasis on speed, which is ironically better utilized when batting in front of players with less power. Yep. Also: Theriot consistently has a high GIDP percentage. Is that ideal as a #2 hitter? (Not a rhetorical question).
  11. I'd probably drink a lot, too, if I had to live in St. Louis.
  12. But if we kept Felix, we would have never snagged Aaron Heilman.
  13. Hendry sucks at signing free agents, but he's a master at making trades.
  14. Milton Bradley for Lowe would be outstanding for the Cubs, but think about it for a sec WSR: Milton Bradley in Atlanta? That would be hilarious. Gary Sheffield and JD Drew have both played for the Braves. I don't see Bradley as much of a stretch.
  15. For me, it would mean giving up on the Cubs.
  16. that one it's hard to blame him though, it was a hard liner off the bat and the ump is basically right behind howard, with the ball skipping less than a foot in front of his glove. calls like that are basically impossible for the ump to get right without guessing, which is why we should have instant replay. Or let the home plate ump who's 90 feet away make the correct call instead of guessing.
  17. How can the first base umpire even make that call? There's no way he could have seen the ball from behind the fielder.
  18. Bucknor is awful. But so is Joe West.
  19. And another blown call! Wow.
