  1. Len says Sean Marshall will pitch if there's a bottom of the 9th. ](*,)
  2. Grabow is great in the clubhouse and improves morale. That's why the Cubs are off to such a great start this season.
  3. When the Lou Piniella biopic is filmed, I hope Clint Eastwood plays Lou.
  4. Typical Chicago fan racism. That's not how LaTroy remembers it. I was there that day. As I walked to the Red Line, I smiled and thought about how I had just been a part of something special.
  5. That ball was so far off the plate that I just laughed out loud.
  6. What are you going to do when we get the old Bob Howry back?
  7. May 6, 2005 Cubs are down 1-0 to the Phillies in the bottom of the 8th. Billy Wagner comes in to face Derrek Lee with one man on. DLee hits a homerun and the Cubs go up 2-1. Top of the 9th: LaTroy Hawkins loads the bases with 1 out. Placido Polanco hits a line drive right back at Hawkins. LaTroy tries to double up Jose Offerman at first base, but his throw hits Offerman in the helmet. The ball ricochets into right field. Two runs score. The Cubs lose 3-2.
  8. I don't mind letting our power hitters swing away.
  9. Tie game! Hopefully Lou's about to get Grabow warmed up.
  10. Scott Rolen isn't playing today, so Dusty puts Miguel Cairo at third base and hits him second. Orlando Cabrera + Miguel Cairo = Cpatt/Neifi 2.0
  11. No, but if he did he should be ejected from the ballpark. Soriano or the fan?
  12. It's true. He prefers to give up outs on the basepaths.
  13. Wow. Terrible call on that double play. As a Cubs fan, I'll take it, but that was really bad.
  14. Nope. Lou decided to tweak the lineup, batting Nady 7th and Castro 8th. Lies Truths Argh, that was such a bitchin lineup Dempster should be hitting 7th.
  15. Fail: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Milwaukee-Brewers-Jody-Gerut-hits-for-cycle-050810 I laughed out loud.
  16. 10th Inning of Padres/Astros game: - O. Salazar singled to shallow left - A. Gonzalez sacrificed to pitcher, O. Salazar to second I'm not so sure I'd want Adrian Gonzalez bunting a runner over for Tony Gwynn Jr. and Will Venable, but hey, that's just me.
  17. Miles, and it's not even close. Agreed. Aaron Miles' OPS last year: .466. Joe Mauer's OBP last year: .444.
  18. Grabow makes me long for Aaron Heilman.
  19. Plenty of sources like your cousin Billy and the bagger at Dominick's? Other than having the facts on your side, great argument bro.
  20. ZiPS Chone Marcel Fans Bill James Kelly Johnson .824 .794 .777 .769 .799 Mike Fontenot .751 .726 .752 .714 .758 Yech, those are both wretched options for 2B. Yeah, that's technically predicting he would be better, but neither was being predicted to be a good option at 2B except ZiPS. Johnson's numbers right now are well beyond anyone's expectations. ZiPS and Chone were the two most accurate projection systems last year. ZiPS had Johnson rated as the third-best offensive 2B before the season, and Chone had him at #9. You're right, Johnson would have been a wretched option for 2B and nobody could have possibly predicted he'd be much better than Fontenot.
