I care about homers & power, but I think with Lee and A-Ram, that side of it is covered for a couple of years. Patterson, too, if his performance is satisfactory (I've only seen a few ABs since he came back up, I was mildly impressed, but not blown away) has power in there, too. So, yes, the good average hitter would be nice. Drive round a few runners and then be on base when the big boys come up. Its nothing new for the Cubs this year to be thought short of that. -

I took the field. I had a feeling that Tiger wouldn't do it. I was thinking Mickelson might, but not enough that I can claim it. Otherwise I'd have put money on it. It was more a 'Well, if Tiger doesn't, Mickelson could....'

I'd go with that. He looked solid until he got hit, and I think he should probably have left the game then. They highlighted one of the hits and how quickly he got out of the way of it. No guarantee he would have got to it before, but being hit certainly rattled him.

Well, its worked twice with me starting the game thread this early. Let's try for the hat-trick. Cards are in a slump of two. Cubs are in a streak of two. Cards' starter is 16-4 on the season thus far. Cubs' starter is 3-5 on the season thus far. Go Cubs! NB - Living in the UK, my MLB.tv coverage of this game is not blacked out.

I like him too. Especially since the new Patient Barrett appeared after the ASB. Maybe that's been built up too much, I don't know the stats, but he certainly seems to have longer ABs
