  1. I heard he was going to sample different posters as mods like an advent calendar during December. I call the 4th!
  2. I feel the same. After all, its not like there isn't an internet site to cover every conceivable need, is it?
  3. That's a pretty cool logo. I approve.
  4. Man, I'm feeling this. I get this every day of my life. :x
  5. - Suddenly, the reason for their choice is apparent. (Note - this is post 666 for me)
  6. I'll see that  and raise you an Eeek!
  7. I'll bet someone talented at Photoshop could make it happen. I, however, aren't. :(
  8. Now... is there ANY way of transmitting this to Dusty?
  9. I found it funny, too.
  10. A 'testing the water' thing? It would also bring attention to good/interesting/useful/funny posts people may have missed - and, as has been suggested, if there's an archive, new members could get a good flavour of some of the things that go on here using that, rather than a trawl through the boards.
  11. Twice nothing - I say build the new one inside the two that have to be destroyed; then there's little or no chance of falling debris from either one of them touching that one.
  12. Geez, no wonder baseball is being dropped from the Olympics I noticed that myself but chose not to comment.
  13. For real amusement, look at the Republic of Ireland team (soccer) in 1994 - I'm sure at least half the team were only in there because they'd had Guinness once.
  14. That would be much better. I would be willing to pay $3-$5 a game if I can just watch them when I want/when I can instead of shelling out $150 for EI and missing half the games I think you can download baseball games for like 2 bucks on mlb.com. Not only that, but with MLB.tv ($15 a month?), you can watch games from the last two years whenever you want. Which isn't wonderfully exciting, but I'm working my way through the 2004 season slowly. Cubs are tied for the Wild Card! Don't tell me how it ends!
  15. Thanks for that news, 1908. My only update so far was that I'll monitor the situation, but this is slightly more encouraging than dropping it stone-dead.
  16. Neifi will start as starter, I think. Whether he will remain so is yet to be seen.
  17. It just drifted onto me, like the sea.
  18. I imagine this is being done in a positive way rather than a negative, they'll want the best quality players playing. I don't see that this is necessarily the case. It will simply allow a larger pool of players to be accessed for the games. Its all just reminded me of the term Plastic Paddy, for which I am grateful.
  19. That sounds like a pretty big weakness. I cope with it. But then, I don't battle Superman.
  20. Thanks. So long as its not just me.
  21. How do I do the 'Whistle' smiley? I can't drag and drop, I don't seem to be able to copy the text while leaving the mouse hovering... OK, its only so I can be 'looking the other way' on a comment about using Curt Schilling as a bowling ball, but I've been looking to use it a couple of times over the last few weeks. Edit - I don't want some wiseguy to just post the smiley, either. I can see that coming a mile off.
  22. Yup, AJ Pierzynski for me. I have the benefit/problem of only having been able to watch a decent amount of baseball for one year, though. The rest is hearsay and speculation.
  23. I can't really deny that Britain is still largely soccer-fanatical (there's a lot of history there to usurp) but - honestly - the interest is dropping as it becomes apparent that money, in the shape of Chelsea, is dominating the game. There is a chink in its armour that other sports, as cricket did over the summer, can replace.
  24. You think? I thought England beating Australia in the Ashes this summer has the UK cricket crazy again. You're not wrong :D Having said that, this year is the first year I can really recall any kind of newspaper covering baseball other than the world series for more than just a paragraph (There was half pages for the LCS - final games, and quarter pages, too, for each match of the WS) come October. I would be interested to see the ratings for Channel 5's WS coverage, mind, but I get the feeling that interest is slowly growing. Edit - There's a lot of room for sport in England, especially seeing as the country is a little disillusioned with football/soccer at the moment.
  25. Its nothing like the same (not least in historical weight) but they are adding the World Baseball Classic. I just think its a shame for the UK - there's a market (of undetermined size) for baseball here, and the Olympics would be a great way of raising interest in it. Which would make my life easier.
