  1. Yep, unless they vote to reinstate it at some point. :( - not happy about this. The Olympics comes to England. Its a perfect way to get the UK interested in baseball and for me to see some decent quality ball. But NO!, after announcing where they were going to build the venue for the baseball/softball competitions, the plug is pulled. I oughta!!!!
  2. I remember that from last time. I need to check things happening in the world of sports more often. Missed the deadline (It accounted for my elimination last time, too)
  3. I said Hulk vs. SUPERMAN. Read more carefully. ;) I think Hulk could kick Spidey's ass, because when the Hulk gets huge, I think he'd be strong enough to break through any webs Spiderman could sling. And, at that point I think he could just swat Spiderman away like a fly. I think he'd beat Superman. If Batman can with gadgets and just human strength, the Hulk could easily do it, IMO. That'll teach me for always thinking about Spidey. (I was thinking an in-city rampage, with Hulk swinging fists at Spidey, but Spidey being nimble enough to avoid them and the building crushing Hulk as the foundations shook. A long shot, I guess. A desert battle, and the Hulk would win so easy its not even funny. Superman, he's a whole different bag of spanners. If I recall, he gets thrashed by something in one of his films, so I'm sure Hulk could replicate that, but again, he has that Super speed and super strength and other super stuff. He could drop stuff onto Hulk from on high, sure. If it comes to hand-to-hand, Hulk, but if it doesn't, Superman.
  4. Why is the relative ability of the two teams defined as what happend in the last 7 games of the year. The Indians were better over the last 81, why not use that definition? They were 4 games better than the Sox in the 2nd half, and made up 8 games in pythagorean standings which are supposed to measure a team's true ability. The Indians will finish ahead of the White Sox next year barring injury problems. This depends on the definition of 'end of the year'. Its vague. I can see both sides of the argument. The second half of the year, the Indians were stronger - this is why we had the exciting game of catch-up. The last week of the year, and post-season, the White Sox were masters. For me? The end of the year would be the last quarter (forty/forty-one games), I think.
  5. I think the idea is to unassemble the stadium, and sell the parts individually. I could use the giant circular bit around the outside. I'm just thinking, I live on a hill, it could be great fun rolling it down, crushing the minions.
  6. That's post-ironic trick or treating - you should be impressed ;).
  7. Giant twenty three year old trick or treaters = Not welcome.
  8. Just got some very strange looks in the office.
  9. That depends on Hulk's pain threshold. If its high enough, Spidey can't get away, if its low enough Spidey can wear him down/do him in. I vote the red corner.
  10. I agree with Da Bears. I'm not ecstatic that the White Sox won, but I don't see their fans every day. I know one White Sox fan and we're quite civilised about the whole thing. If I was coming up against it day after day after day, I might have more issues.
  11. Early indications point one way.
  12. I have a good friend who is a Sox fan and I am happy for her at the moment, though I expect some mild-mannered ribbing (the like of which has been engaged in all season) coming from that direction. Fortunately, I don't have to live through a lot of anti-Cubs bile to get to the 'harmless' side of the rivalry. People behaving with dignity in both victory and defeat. Who knew?
  13. you must not get out much :( - OK. Its one of the cooler online tools I've seen in a while.
  14. That ArtPad thing is the coolest thing I've seen in a long long time.
  15. Which is the 'Yes - if Goal Difference counts' option? A cup game might be harsh, but in the league, if there's two teams playing a poor team and one wins 2-0, whilst letting off, and the other 9-0, that's a 7 goal difference. The difference between a title and not a title.
  16. My eyes! Not laughed like that in a long time.
  17. I might have voted pathetic; but the very last word in the clip swung me to funny.
  18. 13 hours (their time) into a marathon of the first season of 24. We're not quitting... Midnight will arrive shortly. :D
  19. [-X (Sorry,, however I wouldn't want to go into a slide in a gents toilets in ANY sports venue I've been to)
  20. I'm all about the 'stros now.
  21. Are we just going for our favourite here, or which one we think is cooler, or who would win in a fight, or who would be most useful for designing a dinner service... or [trails off] Let me know, and then my vote can count. As a Super Cartoon Villain, its got to be important. Right?
  22. If you're visiting Chicago for baseball reasons, you should surely check out US Cellular Field this year, then next year you can see a resurgent Cubs at Wrigley. Please.
  23. I'd been curious but never enough to raise a comment about it. Thanks. :smurfin:
  24. I woke up this morning, turned on my computer and found I wanted Houston to be in the WS.
  25. For some reason, finances often stand in the way of fairness. Perhaps because fairness only buys good will whereas finances buy concrete things.
