  1. Let's cross that bridge when we come to it. Actually, I don't deserve that pick. I was thinking of the way MLB does it, but we already do it that way for the regular draft, so choosing a more appropriate way for the amateur draft makes sense to me.
  2. No he doesn't. Maybe, but probably not. No, he doesn't, and I'm not sure it's even close. Maybe, but again, probably not.
  3. Tooting your own horn? :hmm: Plus you just placed yourself at the bottom of the waiver order. As for Villalona, that's up to CBS. Two top 100 prospects are worth going to the bottom of the order for. 9 of my 10 Minor Leaguers are now Top 100 guys, and the 10th is Saltalamacchia. I really like what I have there. Of course, if I am in it around the deadline, I will have to deal some of those kids, and this pickup helps me do that. BTW- I do get the first pick in the amateur draft (assuming it happens), correct?
  4. Just grabbed Heyward and Anderson, but curious as to when Villalona will be made available?
  5. You were saying? By the way, in case you need help keeping count, you're losing by SEVENTY THREE. I've been waiting for this. Yeah, I debated writing anything at all. I believe in the old saying "act like you've been there before". But, then again, in this league, I haven't! I may not win this league, and may not compete for the playoffs, but I will definitely improve from last year.
  6. You were saying? By the way, in case you need help keeping count, you lost by FIFTY. You'd charge by the hour to show me how to lose by half a hundred? No thanks.
  7. Okay, this is ugly... http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/04/18/cubs-t-shirt-vendors-capitalizing-on-overt-racial-stereotypes/?icid=100214839x1200298676x1200013027
  8. I would like to see the keeper limits (both points and total number of keepers allowed) set before the trade deadline. For the record, I felt lke 1800 points was the right number. Also, I think we should revisit the question of pitchers starts per week. I'd like to see us go to 7 total starts per week. It would make rosters easier to manage during weeks when some of us are not very available, and it more closely resembles an actual MLB schedule. Finally, I'd love to see two teams join the league. (Heck, 4 would be great, too) Okay, those are my thoughts for today.
  9. No one has spoken out against it, and mine is the only vote one way or another so far. I am for having an amateur draft. 1 yes, zero no's so far.
  10. With the plethora of pitching in the Rays system, I don't think it would take pitching to get him. Davis, McGee, Price, etc? Their Minor League pitching is ridiculous.
  11. Tampa Bay wouldn't do that, unless the Cubs added a guy like Marshall or Gallagher along with Murton. But if the Cubs are interested in a guy like Brignac, then it would make some sense. Which I would gladly do. However I am pretty sure it would take way more than that. Well I'd also throw in someone like Veal if they can include that Price guy. I don't think Veal would net Vincent Price in a trade, much less David Price.
  12. Eventually. But Deeds is playing at Tennessee, and has since his acquisition. He did have two HR during his first 3 games.
  13. He's a goon who for whatever reason thinks he's good at basketball. goon? is he out breaking kneecaps for the mob? Not only is he a goon, he's a total moran. Remember last year when Memphis faced Ohio State in the Elite 8? Joey Dorsey popped off at the mouth about how Memphis would beat OSU and how he would dominate Oden. Said it would be "like David vs Goliath... and I am Goliath." Yeah, Joey, and who exactly won that battle? He then went out to lay a total egg, and Oden abused him.
  14. I complained about it last year. Set one dang lineup for the week and leave it alone. If a player doesn't have a game one day, so be it. Think of that before hand. The only exceptions should be trades and injuries. That said, since the rules are the way they are, I will try to play bythem, even though I do not like them.
  15. Don't think for one second that Pelphrey wouldn't be at the TOP of the list this time in Lexuntun.
  16. I'm more than positive that KU will give him a raise. Will it be more than OSU? Probably not, but he'll be one of the top paid coaches in the country, without a doubt. If Self goes to OSU, then he can. He did what Roy couldn't do. KU will find another solid coach. I pray- literally pray- that Self will stay at Kansas so that OSU will go after Billy Gillispie. I would actually drive to Lexington, pick a McDonalds inside a Wal-Mart and sit there all day listening to that reaction. Pure comedic gold, I tell ya.
  17. Why don't we just trade 2008 for 2007 and KEEP Josh Hamilton after drafting him in the Rule 5 draft?
  18. The thng that makes me happiest about this game is watching that asshat, Joey Dorsey (or should I say Goliath) having to watch the overtime after fouling out like a total moran.
  19. Number of Major League keepers (not just points, but actual number of players.) The inclusion of points in off-season trades. And this is not exactly an offseason issue, per se, but I also think that all players drafted in this year's draft should have to go into the draft next year, and not be subjected to the waiver wire.
  20. Scoreboard shows him with 18 points. Uggh...nobody told me... Did you get my offer? Upgrade at C and CF that you wanted... Yes...but they were not much of an upgrade to trade Harden...if I wanted them, I could have just drafted them. I didn't make n offer for Harden. I made one for Haren.
  21. I realize that the IU search has created much more interest on the board, but South Carolina has a new head coach. It is Western Kentucky head coach Darrin Horn. For those of you giving Crean all the love for Dwyane Wade, it was Horn who got him to Marquette. No coach has ever won anything at a press conference, but for a 35 year old head coach, he crushed it. I am very excited about the future of South Carolina basketball. Today, Rivals.com's 9th rated player, Scotty Hopson verbals to Tennessee. Other rumors suggest Tyler Smith is staying at UT for another season. I am very excited about the future of Tennessee basketball. (Until we lose Asst Coach Tony Jones, that is...)
  22. According to Rob Lewis of the Rivals.com network (Volquest), Scotty Hopson verbals to Tennessee today. No, this is not an April Fool's joke.
  23. Well, if people would respond to flippin trade offers, the problem would be solved. If they haven't by morning, I promise to be legal.
  24. Scoreboard shows him with 18 points. Uggh...nobody told me... Did you get my offer? Upgrade at C and CF that you wanted...
  25. Couple of thoughts... Pat Summit would NEVER take the job, even if offered. I realize that IU fans think that they are God's gift to basketball (along with UK fans) and will ridicule me for saying so, but it's the absolute truth. Summitt refused to let her plane land in Kentucky while in labor, because she refused to let her son Tyler be born anywhere other than Tennessee. She is a Tennessean through and through, and she will retire a Lady Vol. Summitt could absolutely get the attention of male basketball players. When she speaks to current players, they listen as though she's their coach. Pearl has Summitt address the men from time to time, and the level of respect they give her is pretty incredible. Are there players who wouldn't want to play for her? Sure there are. Would she suffer from universal lack of respect? Doubtful. And, let's be honest... for those mothers out there... is anyone really suggesting that Summitt wouldn't have most moms eating out of the palm of her hand? Puh-lease. Easiest sell on the recruiting trail. She is disciplined (players are not allowed to miss class, period), she is successful (7 National Titles), and she is an icon. She could absolutely coach a men's team, and be successful doing so. But, she never will. Not at Indiana, not at Kentucky, and not even at Tennessee. End of story.
