  1. I'm in for sure. You may want to email Nick and tell him what he needs to do, since he's not a member here.
  2. Wait a second. In FORTY-TWO innings, he only had 11 outs happen as something other than a strikeout? Seriously? 115 K's, and 11 "other" outs? (42 innings=126 outs. 126-115=11.) I'm calling BS on this one. Either that, or he's playing against total crap.
  3. And yet, despite not being a team in contention, they are splitting his AB's with Gerald Laird. THAT is what doesn't make sense. If I were the Rays, I would make every effort to get a deal done.
  4. Having just passed on Posey, and not having a top-tier catcher in your system (Navarro is okay, but not a guy you pencil in for the next 5 years, IMO) wouldn't you at least see what it would take to get Salty from the Rangers? With Price, Davis, and McGee all on the way, you've got the arms necessary. Salty on that team would be pretty impressive.
  5. Name a topic that this sentence wouldn't fit in. "Drinking Beer", from the sound of things.
  6. Am I wrong, or is Ethan Martin the kid who hit the umpire in the face with a fastball last week? That kid obviously has command.
  7. ugh, i hate this line of reasoning. it's innings that matter, not days. I think you're both wrong. It is GAMES that matter. Joba likely gives his team the better chance to win GAMES in the rotation than he does in relief.
  8. The only thing that would have been dumber than having him make this start in the majors, as opposed to AA or AAA, would have been to have let him throw 90 pitches. You simply do not do that to a young arm that is trying to get stretched out. Does it hurt your bullpen? Sure it does, and that is why he should not have started this game at this level. But, it's better to hurt your pen a little bit than to destroy this kids arm.
  9. In the Cabrera/Zimmerman deal just consumated, I received Tim's 2nd pick and gave up my own 4th.
  10. Now that's a stupid trade offer. If you know this guy and don't punch him in the face the next time you see him (for the comment), you're a better man than I. I don't know him outside of NSBB at all. He's a good enough guy, though. He is, after all, the People's Champ. I'll pay your membership to nsbb for a year if you punch him in the face... You want even more? He's got Matt Holliday in LF. Holliday is injured and out until at least late next week. So, I offered him Bay (who has outscored Holliday by 28 points so far this year) for Holliday, and his response was "AWFUL Trade!" This from a guy who is starting shane Victorino in CF because he's had to move his CF to LF. Oh yeah, Victorino is being outscored by Bay by SEVENTY points. I may have to take that offer of yours...
  11. I think this is going to become known as the Sean Gallagher rule and the last straw for Vine. Mark, I am going to have to revert you to the following post for the rules on this: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=48519#p1778187 I think maybe this should go to an immediate emergency league vote since this is not the first time this has come up. For the record, I voted that we should be able to use players the way that they're being used in MLB. However, there still needs to be a threshold, or else someone is going to find a starter who throws an inning of relief in an extra inning game and put him in as a reliever the rest of the way. 5 games (as opposed to the current 10) should be a nice compromise, I think. This is going to get hairy sooner or later. Heck, it already has with Vine's departure.
  12. Now that's a stupid trade offer. If you know this guy and don't punch him in the face the next time you see him (for the comment), you're a better man than I. I don't know him outside of NSBB at all. He's a good enough guy, though. He is, after all, the People's Champ.
  13. What if the defense chose to get the guy at 2nd, but did not? The guy at first is still only there due to the fact that Batter A was ahead of him, but he would still count as a baserunner. Batters represent a spot in the batting order, and once that spot reaches, he counts as a runner. (Have to designate "spot in the order" or else pinch runners technically would be considered an additional base runner.)
  14. Two. It does not matter how the batter got on base, the bottom line is that he got on base.
  15. In a keeper league that values offense far more than pitching (the Top 20 players from last year included 3 pitchers), I was offered Jon Lester for Ian Kinsler. Both players are exempt, meaning that neither's point totals count against your team's allotment of points that can be kept from one year to the next. But, Lester's no hitter accounts for 50 of his 179 points, and he's still nearly 40 behind Kinsler. He will likely finish somewhere around 140 points behind Kinsler when all is said and done. The kicker? In the comments section of the offer, the person making the offer wrote "Merry Christmas!"
  16. Has anyone else noticed that the Reds are building a monster in Cincy? (I know, I know... Dusty Baker blah, blah, blah...) That pitching staff, if it continues to grow and stay healthy (I know, I know... Dusty Baker blah, blah, blah...) could be unreal. Harang, Cueto, Volquez, and Bailey would be a pretty stellar front 4. And that lineup does not look bad, either. Bruce, Votto, Encarnacion, and Phillips is not bad. You'd have to imagine that the Reds will get a useful prospect out of Griffey, and if they deal Dunn for younger players, they have a chance to be very scary in just a couple of years. :tomato:
  17. He talks like Hosak, acts like Hosak, trades like Hosak and builds his team for the future like Hosak.....things that make you go hmmm....... I guess I am something of a mentor. And, for the record... "talks like Hosak". Is that a joke?!? He's never met a capital letter nor an apostrophe in his life. He may trade like me, and he may build his team for the future like me (of course, what choice did he have?), but "talk like me" is about as silly a thing as I have ever seen you write. Either that, or I am in major need of an English course. :beee:
  18. Apparently a major understatement. I didn't expect this much activity out of him. Guess that's what happens with college kids in the summer, though... plenty of free time.
  19. Sort of true. After this week, your record would be 6-3 against me if we had played every week. But, truth is, your record will be 0-1, with a 50 point loss on your record.
  20. home: 385/417/736/1.154 road: 289/338/508/846 Fixed my own statement But you wouldn't take that line from Cubs CF'ers right now? Give me those road splits on this team any day of the week.
  21. Just be thankful you're not paying me THIS week, or you'd be getting your brains beaten in again.
  22. Nope. For beating you by 50 again.
  23. Dawg Pound gets Hosak's 5th rounder.
  24. Just finished texting... deal is done. Goodbye 60% of my minor leaguers and my favorite keeper... Hello big names and (hopefully) a shot at competing.
