  1. Another deal... Pound gets my 1st pick next year (12th overall ;) )along with Brignac, Anderson, and Anderson. I get his 2nd and 3rd this year (24 and 25).
  2. Is that "your" 2nd rounder or one of the ones you acquirred in a trade? Mine. I still have yours and Tim's. I hear lots of points offers are being discussed. I think my fears (and the reason I initially said no) are about to be realized. Gonna be a thin draft in 2009, I'm afraid. But, the bright side is, all the guys who check out and don't participate over the winter are gonna be penalized for not paying attention. The draft will just continue to get weaker while they're not paying attention. I don't think it will be as bad as you think. There are only so many points to go around and I have run into three teams already that are not willing to give up any points or don't have enough left to give up to make much of a difference. You have to pay attention in this league. It's like the NFL Network 24/7/365. Yep. I am a TOTAL DORK, but I have every team's *anticipated* keepers, and as best as I can tell, there are only about 3 teams with more than 100 points to give away. Of course, 2 of those 3 aren't doing anything right now, so it's only Nick who's giving points away. But, he sounds like he might give almost half of them away, and that will buy an extra 3-5 players if the points get moved around right. I'm intrigued by the fact that you've run into 3 teams not wiling to give anything away. I know Nick is. I might be (I've offered points for a pick to someone, and am waiting on that reply), but I know that Roady isn't. That still leaves 2 people from whom you've heard, and I cannot figure out who that might be. I've left messages on CBS and here for 3 people and have heard nothing in response. True, it's only October, but with the new rules, it does not make sense to wait until the point-drop deadline to be active. I wonder if a league-wide message explaining the new rule and how it affects the offseason would be useful?

  4. Slainte gets my 2nd rounder (23 overall) for Beltran.

    Draft?

Who has the #1 pick? I was under the impression it was Dawg Pound, since they had the lowest point total. IF I am wrong, let me know.
  6. It's funny that two organizations have now mishandled Prior. Makes you wonder if he's part of the problem. I don't think SD mishandled him. I don't see how Prior could be the problem as far as them not being able to find all the damage in his shoulder. He just has made some bad adjustments mechanically and was worked too hard by Baker in '03. I think you missed the sarcasm in this post.

  9. For the record, I now own Posey's rights. Also, I almost have Nick talked into joining NSBB. Can anyone get him access to this forum?
  10. It is now 6-2 in favor of this rule change. Did you see my poist in the other thread? My explanation of why I voted no? Also, as I said in that thread, if you got to 6 yes votes, I would change mine from no to yes in order to be a team player. So, I guess you can call that 7 yes votes, and the rule passes.
  11. This is even more depressing... Since MLB expansion in 1962, every team but 4 (Mariners, Astros, Rangers, Expos/Nationals) has made it to the World Series. That means EVERY expansion team to join the league in the last 46 years, besides those 4, has done advanced farther than the Cubs.
  12. As of 1/24, these are the current non-exempt point totals for every roster (the point limit is 1800, unless you trade for points): Bronx DSB: 5566.9 Buckner Hits a Double: 5061.7 Dawg Pound: 527.3 (out of 527.3) Gutless Choking Dogs: 3486.4 Hosak: 2493.3 (out of 2283) Mighty D Block: 3787.3 Minnesota Masterbatters: 7006.4 Jiddy78: 7019.9 Roady: 2256.8 (out of 2272.7) Slainte: 3871.6 SoCal Cubs: 1817 (out of 1817) Whitesoxaholics: 3985.4 (out of 2100) Anyone can feel free to double check your rosters, in case I miscalculated. I have already removed announced retirements who are still in the system, such as Maddux and Mussina.
  13. You voted "no"?!? Have a change of heart? Sort of. The way I see it is this- if I trade someone points for a draft pick, then they get to keep more players out of the draft. That does not seem to help me. Allowing people to keep extra players takes people out of the draft, and that hurts bad teams (of which I have been the worst.) But, in an effort to be a team player, if you get six yes votes, I will change my vote. After all, I currently have 39.5 points lying around, and if I can get something for them, so be it. Also, (I know, I know... I'm a total loser, or an insomniac, which explains why I'm able to do this junk at 3 am) I've gone through and gotten non-exempt point totals for every team, if that would be helpful for you. Just let me know, and I can post them.
  14. but if you arent going to keep tulo and you DO draft webb 1st overall, wouldnt the trade be better? that way you're getting webb and the 9th, instead of losing tulo and then drafting webb? maybe im not thinking clearly True. Makes sense. So, what do you think? Assuming the top 50 players are gone. Could you trade Tulo for better than the 9th overall pick? If so, do that. If not, make the deal.
  15. Are you making up quotes again Hosak? I have no idea what you are talking about?? :-" BTW, received another "yes" vote.....5-2 in favor of the rule change. Nice. I see what you did there. That's weak tot action mooch.
  16. Says the guy asking people to vote in a poll. You want what you want, I want what I want. Thanks for your response. Says the guy that asked for all these offseason issues in the first place and has just now voted. #-o Not me. I voted the day you put the poll up. I was the first, and now one of two "no" votes.
  17. Why do we need 7 votes to uphold a rule that is already in place? There is no reason to need 7 "no" votes. If there aren't 7 yes votes, then the rule should remain the same as it has always been, no?
  18. Says the guy asking people to vote in a poll. You want what you want, I want what I want. Thanks for your response.
  19. Are you talking about a player that was drafted in our league's amateur draft? Still waiting for that answer... If it's yes, I make the deal. If it's no, I don't, so I need to know something please.
  20. Are you talking about a player that was drafted in our league's amateur draft? Yep. I have not seen him added to the database yet, though. If this deal is made, do I have to keep an open roster spot for the player, or can I carry 10 Minor Leaguers until he is added?
  21. I've been offered a deal in which I would receive a player's rights who is not in the database yet. Is this acceptable?
  22. Is it really weird that I actually KNOW the guy in your signature, and that he's actually a pastor?
  23. Has Tim all but officially given up Commish responsibilities?
  24. I'd rather trade for him tonight.
