  1. Hehe. Check out this tidbit:  But on topic, say Dusty does leave. Who's gonna take his place? Sarge? Does anyone else recognize the possibility that whoever takes Dusty's place might actually be worse?
  2. Uh, he specifically singled out Caribbean players. I don't see how that can't be seen as racism. And where is Scoop Jackson on this one?
  3. I think the reason people think the Astros won't come back to earth is because they have had good pitching all year, just no offense to back it up on the road. Plus, the Astros were about as close as we were in 2003 to the World Series. This is exactly the time teams need to take off for the Wild Card, and the Astros are in space.
  4. Can I ask a favor of people? Can we not have pyramid quotes half a page long? Just select the last quote...thanks. That being said, not only is the season ruined for us, Maddog will probably fail to get 15 wins this year and it won't be because of his pitching.
  5. IS THAT OPTIMISM!??!!. HURRY, CRUSH IT! DUSTY WILL RUIN IT SOMEHOW!!!
  6. That's just terrific. =D>
  7. *When Hank White threatened to slap Zambrano if he didn't throw a strike *July 25 against the Cards, Hank went 4-5 with a homerun and two RBIs. *July 29 against the D-backs when Blanco hit a monster homerun and then was intentionally walked *Maddux's Homerun *D-Lee beating Pujols in voting *Prior and Wood's Triumphant comeback games
  8. *obligatory hating Joe Morgan comment*
  9. Fred are those stats fair considering you don't have an even number of ABs or the dates are the same? Couldn't you just spot select dates that proved hot or not?
  10. #@$#. Time to bring Corey up. And I was hoping he'd get more work in since he probably can't be sent back down again. At least he'll bat #8 and not leadoff.
  11. He's not hurt. He was taken out because he was up over 100 pitches and was struggling. Thank god. I caught one radio bit where Santo was describing how he landed funny on the 1st base side a couple of times and automatically took into account the 'cubs factor'.
  12. What happened to Prior today? I missed the game.
  13. A quote from Dusty regarding Palmiero: Uh....WTF? :x He lied to Congress, to baseball fans everywhere that took him at his word, he sullied MLB, he played everyone for the fool, and you're "disappointed for him"?!?!!? Yeah, he put in hard work, but with the edge of steroids Dusty. Although I suppose you've already prepared your statement for Bonds...
  14. Dusty has to have a team meeting and go Bobby Knight on them.
  15. Dalgreen: Also add Prior, Williams, Murton, (I'm sure Lawton), and Burnitz.
  16. If Murton had been catching he would have caught strike three cleanly then made a snap throw to third to double off Rollins. Dusty is just too stupid to use his players correctly.
  17. So if we're not accusing Dusty of being a moron we're defending him? :?
  18. I don't see how you can label Barrett a "defensive batter". When it really mattered, with the bases loaded and none out, he was too offensive, swinging at 3 out of 4 pitches and striking out at pitches that were nowhere near the plate.
  19. You think Dusty is out there hitting them ground balls?
  20. Oh come on now. The players lost this game. All of you blame Dusty for making excuses. Well, Dusty is your excuse. This game was lost by a lack of FUNDAMENTAL baseball. Rundowns, Pitchers moving to first, turning double plays, patience at the plate, NOT swinging at the high fastball, taking walks by a pitcher who has given up almost a walk per inning.
  21. Who cares? A solo shot would have helped immensely in this game.
  22. Santo didn't die, but he was PISSED. You think Steve Stone was bad last year....
  23. This was, without a DOUBT, the WORST game by the Cubs I have ever seen. They cubs should have won this game, and instead we GAVE IT AWAY. You know what, we didn't give it away. WE BEGGED AND PLEADED for the Phillies to take it from us, and then, when THEY didn't want it, we threw it on their doorstep. Makes me sick to watch this team play such terrible baseball. I'll quote Ronny, in that "This is the worst fundamental game of baseball I have EVER seen in my life". F#@$ing outrageous.
  24. BREAKING NEWS! Uh oh. We've never seen him before. This could be really bad... :-&
