  1. So to sum up the entire 5 pages to this thread the answer is: No.
  2. Well good for the Mets. I wouldn't want him at that price, especially with no other bullpen help, but good for them. He's gonna be a force the next two years or so I bet. Certainly makes me feel better about signing Dempster, with all the money that Wagner got this year.
  3. Thanks buddy. Or should I say bubby? :D As for crappy rumor, we've been had before, so you never know.
  4. His stats aren't much better than Macias. He walks a bit more, strikes out more, and has slightly more power. Intrestingly enough, they both played in the same amount of games last year, but Mabry had about 75 more at bats. I guess Tony was confident enough to leave him in for more than one inning?
  5. He certainly isn't trying to get attention or be flashy. How do you know Mabry's family?
  6. Kind of like things are got interesting in Philly these last couple weeks?
  7. Looks like quite a bit of red in the stands....I'm not sure that's at Wrigely.
  8. In the Sporting News, there were some interesting comments today. You know, this could be a big pickup for the Phillies or the Yanks. I like this, because it tells me Florida was looking for a CF and pitching prospects. Both of which we have a couple extra. (Patterson and assorted pitching prospects) I think this is a good sign for us.
  9. Is the only choice Farns love vs. Gutless, choking dog? Because I would think that the truth lies somewhere in between. He's been inconsistent with flashes of brilliance his whole career. I would wager my bank account that this summer was the exception to the rule, and that he'll revert back to the statistical norm soon enough. There's been no indication to me that he's "finally figured it out" and now he's the next Billy Wagner. That being said, I would not want him on my team, regardless of whether he'd been on it before. My prediction is that he'll just be one more "if only he'd gotten his stuff under control" pitcher.
  10. For the Blue Jays' sake I hope they don't sign Giles. The contract will be too long and expensive, and he'll maybe last two more years at current output.
  11. I keep checking the date to make sure it's not April 1st.
  12. Seriously, 6/100 mil?! That's just ludicrous.
  13. Oh god this can't be for real. That deal for Fucal is insane. Plus, I can't imagine Hendry dealing Cedeno.
  14.   Wow. I'm don't know which part I'm more surprised about, that Ryan is getting such a huge contract or that it was the Blue Jays! However, this deal makes more sense to me than the one that the Mets will probably offer to Wagner, as Ryan will come close, if not last out this contract, while Wagner certainly won't.
  15. The Weather ones by far. Can't STAND teams named after the weather.
  16. the "good times"? Oh come on, just because it ended badly doesn't mean you didn't have a good time at all. Try and tell me that wasn't one of the best summer's and falls of your life until Game 5.
  17. Yep, as much as I sometimes complain about Hendry, the good thing is that he almost never gets fleeced when he does trade.
  18. Actually that's pretty inspiring to me. Makes me remember the good times. Now "The Incident"....
  19. C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon Bobby now....(come on bobby) Twist and shout....
  20. I'm sorry but this is hilarious!
  21. It sounds to me we'd be trading Walker for a more expensive Walker. I'd rather keep the original if it came to that, thanks.
  22. I'm sold. That's terrific.
  23. Wow. Kinda surprised they let Rowand go, but they did need a DH, and it is a safeguard against Konerko moving (albeit a crappy one). Now let's get Abreu and Pierre and Furcal.
  24. Well the good news is that everyone else will overpay for their relievers as well then. That the Cubs won't be the only ones hurting from overblown pitching contracts. It'll really hurt teams like Florida and Atlanta that are strapped for cash. Hell, we might have just prevented da Farns from re-signing to the Braves. Silver lining folks. Plus, if this deal is not true, and we don't sign any more FA releivers, then we have effectively burned the bridge behind us for Howry, Farnsworth, Wickman, etc.
  25. So no new news on this yet.....deal not going down?
