  1. No, actually I'm not nauseated by it. I would be if I didn't think they're legit. But I do. That was a huge road win Sunday. NO is definitely a legitimate contender. it was almost as if they had to discuss it out of the guilt from Katrina I think that's a huge stretch. It was a game between two of the hottest teams in football, and it was a rout. Of course they're gonna talk about it.
  2. Good point, I wonder if that's why we haven't seen much on the Jones front, because he's been waiting to acquire another OF first so as not to trade from weakness. But if he trades Jones doesn't that create a weakness? The Cubs can always trade Jones during ST. Better to get the CF first and then figure out what to do with Jones. They could always psoture a Murton/ Jones Platoon or perhaps someone blows them away with a trade for Murton and they keep Jones. Yeah, that's exactly what I meant.

  4. That's going to lead to some awful nice field position. I would think teams that have something to lose (ie: in playoffs) would have almost no choice. You can't risk a Hester touchdown right after you've scored. They might just figure they have a better chance of stopping Rex than stopping Hester.
  5. What a great picture. http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2006-10/25915257.jpg
  6. This game should be along the lines of the 49ers game. I just hope our defense doesn't continue to make fools of themselves.
  7. Didn't he do well in the VWL or the MWL or something?
  8. What a sweet, sweet game. The Bears just proved why they are SO dangerous. If they don't get you on offense, they'll pin you deep, force a turnover, or run a punt back for a TD. This is a PERFECT game for Rexy, exactly what I wanted and expected. No turnovers, a variation in pass length and time, two TDs, and no stupid decisions. Devin Hester is....I don't even have any words. A force of nature maybe? The ONLY downside was that the defense was sloppy tonight, but with Todd Johnson, Mike Brown, Nathan Vasher, and Tommie Harris out, I guess it's gonna be weaker. Also, they were on the field for a LONG time because of Hester's punt returns. You could tell they were winded at the end.
  9. You could have a Griese drinking game. 1 for first down. 2 shots for anything over 10 yards. 3 shots for TD.
  10. Anyone else really nervous about Rex in this game? I'm kinda tapping my foot waiting for this game to start and it's scary to think what happens to Rex if he blows this one.
  11. Looking at position players: Murton - Murton: Hopefully will continue to improve (+) Soriano - Pierre: HUGE improvement, even if 2006 was a fluke (+++) DLee - 1B 2006: HUGE improvement (++) Barrett - Barrett: Career year last year, could see dip in production (~= or ~ -) Aram - Aram: Same as Barrett (~= or ~ -) Izturis - Cedeno/Perez: Probably about the same, chance for improvement (~+) DeRosa - 2B 2006: Toss-up. Could go either way. (- or = or +) Jones - Jones: Resurgent year last year, could see dip in production (~= or ~ -) So by my tally: 3 probable improvements, some of them huge 3 possible dips in production due to great years last year One complete tossup I'd say that adds up to about an 12-15 win improvement if we assume pitching is the same. Which obviously should be better. So I'd guess 15-18 win difference, and add in a few wins for Lou instead of Dusty and we get 18-21 win improvement, which gives the Cubs a Balsa-Projected-Wins of 84-87. Which I think should be enough for the NL Central.
  12. But our goal isn't to shut people up. :p I'd be more than happy with another Jets game from Rex. That would show me he can control the ball and not turn it over, and mean that it would be pointless to put in Griese. The only way I see Griese being put in is if Rex throws terribly and allows 2 INT before half.
  13. What about a 15-32, 245 0 TD 0 INT? Assuming the Bears score on running backs that is.
  14. I'm just not sure I like Cliff Floyd. I mean, 3 out of his last 4 years he's failed to get 400 ABs. And he's 34. It just seems like signing him would be a bad idea.
  15. Atlanta is talking with them, and reports are that the price tag so far is Chuck James, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and Yunel Escobar. That's a steep price considering James won 11 games and Saltalamacchia looks like a serious catching prospect. No kidding. Chuck James is a great prospect, went 11-4 starting only 18 games last year, and pitched 6 or more innings in 12 of those games. 1.24 WHIP and a 3.78 ERA, he's only 25 and a lefty.
  16. School is less important than Bears. Exactly my thought process tonight when I go watch the game in a bar during finals week.
  17. I agree with you BBB, but remember that Baldelli is both younger and more experienced. Although Tampa's price is probably too high anyway.

  19. Do another onside kick!!!
  20. WOW. Just WOW.
  21. Oh my, that's just not fair
