  1. And we would be getting an even more overpaid, potentially injured starting pitcher in return. No thanks. I'm sorry, I would never accept a return like that for Garcia. Izturis has no value, and Ohman is a dime a dozen. I didn't suggest it, just saying.
  2. Yes he may be hurt, but you're giving up a LOOGY and a mediocre, overpaid middle infielder for him.
  3. This will be a very interesting offseason on the South Side. Williams has expressed many times that the team needs to get younger. I believe the window of opportunity is closed. Thome is close to done, Dye had a career year, Konerko will decline, Podsednik will be gone, so will Uribe, Garcia, hopefully Contreras, and maybe Iguchi. I would build around Garland, McCarthy, Vazquez, and possibly Buehrle. If Buehrle is the key piece in a deal for a promising SS prospect, then I would trade him. But his value is really low right now. What do you think will happen? I asked on here because the Cards, Brewers, and Astros will probably all express interest in Garcia or any of the other starters.
  4. Prove it. So does Sandy Alomar. .Not true. And the Sox won with an abysmal AJP behind the plate.
  5. So you would take Freel or Clark over Wells? I think you guys are getting to caught up with the whole OBP. I would take the guy who hits around .300 with 30HR and 100RBI a year, over a guy like Freel or Clark who will only put up a .370 OBP. I guess im the only one who would take the better player. While Wells has been better this year, it's debatable whether he is the better player. Freel was better in 2004-2005. Wells has a better slugging, but Freel's numbers have been remarkably consistent. The same can't be said for Wells. Wells will hit around .300 each year, he will hit close to 30hr a year, and drive in 100 runs a year. He is the better player. Wells is entering his prime. I think he could repeat his numbers next year. It'd be much more accurate to say he will do those things twice every five years.
  6. You would have to be crazy to take Freel or Clark over Vernon Wells. Not really. Vernon Wells is having a tremendous year but his previous two seasons he posted OPS+ of 104 and 103. It would probably take a lot to get him, while the Reds and Brewers are more than willing to part with Freel or Clark. Freel and Clark post MUCH better On-Base Percentages, which is exactly what the Cubs need, not more toolsy guys who swing at everything. I dont agree with anything you said. Let's take a look at Vernon's numbers for this year: AVG .313 | HR 31 | RBI 93 | OBP .367 | SLG .568 . Yeah I guess Freel and that other guy are better. I'd rather have Barrett and one of those "other guys" instead of Wells and a defensive whiz.

  8. That was sarcasm. Those 3 I listed are all horrible defenders. I know, I just wanted to reiterate his lack of awesomeness.
  9. I seriously cannot remember one time AJP gunned anyone down. Not one. He is so overrated it's ridiculous. Barrett may not be ideal behind the plate, but he adds 10x the offense of AJP and has time to learn. Keep Barrett and add OBP and a power bat at the corners. This team is not in dire condition, it can be revitalized with the RIGHT moves.
  10. Vernon Wells would command a lot more than Barrett, plus he is OVERRATED. You guys need patience, not another toolsy outfielder. Brady Clark or Ryan Freel would be more beneficial to the team than Wells, plus you keep the best offensive backstop in the game.
  11. Why would you want any of them? Because they're all miles ahead of Pierre?
  12. Anybody find it odd that Dye is having a season that absolutely pales every single other season he's had? His numbers are so much better this season that it's ridiculous. I'm thinking 1996 Brady Anderson ridiculous. I'm not saying he's juicing, but you have to wonder..... That is the single dumbest thing I have ever read, EVER. Brady Anderson (in the four full seasons prior to 1996) averaged around 15 HR a year. He then hit 50. Jermaine has average 27 in his full seasons, and will most likely finish around 45. That's not that big of a disparity. I love how loosely everyone throws around accusations of steroids. I remember someone on the board making a comment about Prior, just because of his poor luck with injuries. Absolutely dreadful.
  13. Im going to go out on a limb and say, the Twins will win the world series if Liriano comes back, and pitches the way he did before he went on the DL. Too, many, commas. No doubt Liriano would have won the award if he stayed healthy. From a WS perspective, it's nice not facing him, but as a baseball fan I want him out there.
  14. Oddly enough, the White Sox have had some of the worst pitching and defense but are still on track for around 90-95 wins. God I hate baseball cliches.
  15. Thats a very Hendry-like philosopny. The most successful GM's, are the ones who take the most risk's. Care to elaborate?
  16. Jim Leyland is the only other manager in baseball who would appreciate Neifi as much as Dusty.
  17. Yeah, the guy wearing the $4,000 suit is holding the elevator for the guy who doesn't make that in four months. Come on!
  18. I just would like to point out that there are millions of children from ages 10-12 who have stronger arms than Johnny Damon.
  19. People should hate the Tigers because they bunt with Pudge.
  20. Low-income housing=Rampant Cub Hating firearm having thugs who fire guns wildly Seriously, Wrigley did a good job with the lights. They've preserved the "feel" of the stadium over the years.
  21. Why do you hate them? And why is your SN misleading?? Because questioning such blatant hypocrisy is irrational.
  22. I never used to believe in "fairweather fans". I now do. Ignorant statement. I have always been a Angels fan. I even write in LAA fan forums. Ok, well until recently I had assumed you were a Cub fan because of your posting about the Cubs on a Cubs message board. MY MISTAKE IM IGNORATN. I am a Cubs fan. When did I say I wasnt a Cubs fan? That dosent mean im not a Cubs fan. BTW, your sox were smoked last night. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/ps/y2005/wrap.jsp?ymd=20051016&content_id=1252324&vkey=ps2005wrapup&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb It's sort of easy to talk smack when you have a variety of teams to choose from.
