  1. Too many runs. Not enough smallball. More bunts, less home runs. Make something happen. Blech blah blah. No really their pitching is awful and the AL is pretty good.
  2. I never used to believe in "fairweather fans". I now do.
  3. Dave Roberts will probablt get less than Neifi, Pierre will probably receive a raise of at least a million a year. I'll take Roberts.
  4. I could easily see Soriano getting 5/75 and Lee getting 5/70.
  5. If you're caught that much, you really shouldn't be running. Both are running themselves into outs and Pods has been picked off EIGHT FREAKING TIMES. He sucks in that regard, but is being very patient at the plate. I'll take Pods over Pierre, though. P/PA Juan Pierre- 3.55 Scott Podsednik- 4.11 That being said, I want the Sox to thank him for his contributions by letting him get a large contract with a stupid team.
  6. I just shot hot coffee out of my nose, thank you. This is the funniest post I've ever read. It could also be the creepiest, I'm not sure. Maybe that's what makes it so damn funny. The thought of bringing Nomar back makes me sick. Yeah he is having a solid year in LA, but he is always injured. He burned the cubs twice in 04, and 05. Cannot count on him for a full season. The only postion where he could stay healthy is at 1B. Last I checked, D-Lee will be the 1B for the Cubs next year. Nomar could probably play with one leg and outproduce Izturis.
  7. I really can't see Schmidt in a Cub uniform. They'll be deadset on getting a pitcher who is healthy, due to the storm of criticism they've taken for Wood and Prior.
  8. We want you to stop writing writing loaded sentences like the one quoted above. Tell me what to say so I can jump on board with this "Cubs suck, Hendry sucks, everyone sucks" bandwagon. What I said above may have been loaded, but in response to 1908 it was absolutely right. How was it absolutely right? You've been misrepresenting my statements all night and then discrediting them. You said offensively he is atrocious. I feel and still do, that he can improve on his #'s yet because it doesn't fit into your projections or a calculation, he is terrible. I disagree. Better yet, compare those #'s to other 8 hole hitters in the NL and I'd argue he'd be just fine. Factor in what his defense brings and I like him at short and in the 8 hole. But it's a whole damn team of 8 hitters. What are you basing your hopes that his #s will improve other than optimism? Talent, health, maturity, more offensive support surronding him. Players do not develop plate discipline 6 years into their career.
  9. Possibly. Depending on Washington's and Minnesota's 2007 payroll situations though, I don't think we can rule out Hendry making possible trades for Jose Vidro or Luis Castillo. Hendry has liked Vidro in the past, and if he is available you know Derrek and Juan will actively campaign for Castillo. NOT Castillo. He is getitng older, and speed is a major part of his game. You cannot count on Vidro to play a whole season. He is never healthy. Tejeda is the guy. A Package of Prior, Pie, Cedeno and another arm should get Tejeda. Prior's value has NEVER, EVER been lower. Pie is struggling at AAA, posting a .729 OPS, Cedeno's VORP is -13, and unless that other arm is named Zambrano, I have no reason to believe that Angelos would let this trade go through. Where do you find all this faith in Hendry? Why wouldn't he go into the season with that infield? It's like his wet dream.
  10. That's the same idea that without Lee instead of Podsednik, the Sox would have still been mediocre. Two completely mediocre moves that coincided with World Championships.
  11. At the risk of sounding like Brodie Bruce, if you're not going to pay attention to the conversation, don't join in. Don't worry. You sound NOTHING like Brodie Bruce. And I'd just like to know where this "good defense" is coming from. Ramirez has been pretty good at third. Cedeno is inconsistent. Where's this run-saving defense coming from? Isn't that what the discussion was about? The effect of good defense on pitching? All I wanna know is why you consider the Cubs defense to be good and, therefore, able to save the Cub pitchers tons of runs. I realize, the subject is debatable. But, I've watched MANY Cubs games this year and haven't walked away from any of them thinking that the Cubs had a bunch of defensive studs. You, obviously, see things differently. Given that defensive ability is almost completely subjective, why build a big part of your team around something you can't even quantify? Because if you want to win you have to. Ask any pitcher if they think Defense is important... Defense only matters over the course of 162 games if it is extremely above or below average. It all balances out.
  12. For the record, the White Sox won the WS because they had four pitchers who performed well above their career averages. Their hitters sucked, but hit 200 homers. My opinion of their defense... Crede-Very good range, probably top 5 if not top 3 Uribe- Sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks i hate him sucks Iguchi- Above average Konerko- Average, but he used to be well below Pods- Sucks Anderson- Very, very good Dye- meh, average Oh, and Rowand was very slow footed and got bad breaks, but he did make the occasional Jim Edmonds.
  13. The deal didn't go down until the deadline, couldn't they have gotten a single A prospect? Hendry must have been clamoring for Cesar Izturis.
  14. How about Josh Fields for Murton and McClain, and then we trade ARam for Aybar and Santana. Then we will resign ARam during the offseason and move Fields to LF. How you like dem apples? I'd do Fields for Jerome Williams, Matt Murton, and Wuertz
  15. I know, but he's exactly the type of player the Sox need in left field...oh well. Cintron was a joke, by the way, he is a young Neifi.
  16. I'd like to see the White Sox go after Murton.......Cintron for Murton? eh????
  17. I just can't believe that Theo didn't drive up the price or try to integrate a third team to keep him out of NY. One of the best players in baseball just went for a worthless shortstop and a 27 year old reliever. Good job Gillick.
  18. Note to South Side: Hijacking the thread isn't going to make them believe your opinion.
  19. The Tigers can have him as long as Tino Martinez is kidnapped and put on a desert island. Who would ever let him speak into a camera?
  20. You can hear it on SportsCenter. It is a very annoying call. So then why do you use it? It's great to poke fun at them w/ it when they lose. Which is the definition of obnoxious, which is why you hate the team and their fans. This is getting confusing.
  21. Let's shift the focus. Point: The Sox have way too much talent to continue like this. Counterpoint: Their schedule is INSANE.
  22. :?: the explanation is really simple. he makes these caveats, yet argues how 'right' Ozzie is or how Ozzie is 'just stating the facts' or 'just telling it how it is' in other words, he tries for best of both worlds. condemning Ozzie for the things Ozzie says, while at the same time argreeing with every word that comes out of Ozzie's mouth, no matter how absurd. the irony is he says Ozzie is an idiot, but if recollection of this forum is correct, he agrees with just about everything Ozzie says, even while condemning him for it. If what you say is true, I just may be the smartest man alive. Condemning him, while, at the same time, agreeing with him. Agreeing, while condemning, BRILLIANT.
  23. :?: Thank you. Ozzie said it was clean? Ozzie thinks anything short of shivving the pitcher in the ribs is clean. He has talked openly about supporting "old time" cheating like spitting on the ball and other things. WHICH IS TOTALLY AWESOME COS I AGREE WITH EVERY WORD HEY THIS IS JI JIM THOME
