  1. Just a side note: The A's are last in the AL in OBP. Kinda interesting. Actually, Beane's researchers have discovered that OBP is actually overvalued in the market today and that speed and young pithing is undervalued. That's interesting. Do you have a link with more information, cause that's such a step away from the typical philosophy.
  2. The point is, it's pretty accepted that guys throw at players from time to time. The unwritten rule is you don't talk about it. You aren't so bold to say yeah we're intentionally throwing at you. The other problem is, Ozzie is an idiot. He's a PR nightmare, and has never met a microphone he wouldn't talk to.
  3. No, no, no, Padilla is the victim. Those 3 guys were standing on top of the plate. Plus Padilla had lost his control when Ozzie pepper sprayed him off camera moments earlier.
  4. If they flip Soriano, what for? Anyone? I'm as confused as anyone, this deal does not make any sense whatsoever. They have no use for Fields, and McCarthy hasn't shown A LOT at the big league level.
  5. You should expect to find this sort of thing here. Definitely, but I just found it hypocritical. See, I respect you J.R. because you hate the Sox with all your heart, but for reasons that aren't hypocritical and make perfect sense. Even I hate Jerry Reinsdorf.
  6. Who cares about last year!!?? Last year is over. I deal with moronic White Sox fans every day. I despise them, and I wish their team ill. The anti-Cubs agenda is not only limited to the fans. It goes all the way to marketing (us vs. them ads), management (KW saying he doesn't want to be 2nd-fiddle to the Cubs), coaches (Ozzie saying "f the cubs"), and players (AJ saying he was rooting for the Tigers over the Cubs). I have friends who are White Sox fans. I cannot hold a baseball discussion w/ them w/o them saying "Cubs suck" Why should I root for the White Sox?? Their fans have never rooted for the Cubs. They don't want Cubs fans rooting for them. Fine. They are the ones who picked the fight. I used to never care about them. I started caring and hating them after I moved to New Trier and dealt w/ their fans online and in-person. W/ the Cubs out of it, I might as well root for the White Sox and Cardinals to lose. "I sure as heck ain't rooting for the White Sox or Cardinals." - It's the only intelligent thing our manager has ever done or said. I don't think anyone expects you too "root" for the Sox. From what I read, I think they are commenting on your overall obsession with the White Sox. Honestly, how many Sox fans do you really encounter in the northern suburbs? Online? What sites are you visiting where you deal with this? WSI? Cubs.com? What else would you expect? New Trier is more White Sox fans than Cubs fans. When I pass by White Sox fans, they start going, "WHITE SOOOOOX!!" They do it to others too. They are rude, dumb, and obnoxious people. I hate their fans so much, I want to punch them in the face. So because they say their team's name, you want to punch them in the face? They very well may be doing it solely because they know it irritates you. It might have absolutely nothing to do with team allegiance. They do it to others, and they where White Sox hats and shirts. Not just World Series stuff either. And it doesn't piss me off, b/c I still wear my Cubs stuff Say it ain't so.
  7. Why is Mabry in your "Dusty's Toys" sig? Pagan is not really one of his toys, either, and he doesn't suck Example please. And the White Sox game where he hit 2 homers does not count. Plus Baker called Pagan a "horse." That is a definite welcoming to "Dusty's Toys." But since they were against the White Sox, they are extraextraextraextraextraextra important.
  8. QFT Couldn't have said it any better. Welcome.
  9. No Soccer, is favorite AL team is the Red Sox, except when any of their competitors are facing the White Sox or any team who could possibly positively or negatively affect the Sox.
  10. Why wouldn't you just keep Walker instead of Izturis? That is, if Walker is willing to re-sign. Izturis is BAD, no matter what Steve Stone says.
  11. it's not hitting the white sox should be concerned with... Yeah, plus where would they put him?? LF. Pods in CF. And then where does Brian Anderson go?? AAA That's real smart     They're going to mess up a young kid just to have another masher in the lineup. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gifhttp://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j99/CubsBullsBears/LMAO.gif He's hitting .205/.289/.327. He's pretty messed up as it is. The Sox are trying to win the World Series, if they can upgrade the CF spot they have to do it. If Andreson can't handle a demotion with those numbers he can't cut it anyway. Offense isn't there issue. It's pitching I don't disagree, but you improve where you can when you can. If they can replace Anderson with a capable hitter they would be crazy not to do it just because it would "mess him up." He's as messed up as he can be now. Fine. So they improve on offense, but they don't address the pitching. That's real smart. If they get Soriano, they ought to change the ginder ball rule about power. Never underestimate the power of power: It has the power to destroy what the grinder ball was built on. Surprising, you seem to be unaware of the fact that the Sox have all of their starters locked down and with their huge contracts they are difficult to move. Acquiring a starter would be idiotic.
  12. Anderson will stay up. Pods is so lost in CF, he's lost more than a step. Anderson's defense makes up for his offense, even BP thinks so: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=5200
  13. I don't know if the 2005 workload is coming back to haunt the Sox. I just think they were never really that great of pitchers. Garland had a career year, Contreras has been surprisingly good, Garcia was way overrated, Vazquez has had one good year and was the stupidest move the Sox could have made, and Buehrle is a work horse but pretty mediocre. Pretty much a bunch of good #3 or #4 starters, but no ace. I do agree that the Twins will pass the Sox even without Soriano. I agree. I think Garland is an alright pitcher. Contreras is filthy, and has turned into a pretty solid pitcher. The Sox were REALLY lucky that Jeremy Reed has been mediocre, Olivo has been terrible, and Morse got busted for steroids, otherwise the Garcia deal would look really bad. I don't think you could call Buehrle mediocre. He's been a solid innings eater, and he has a career ERA+ of 128.
  14. Anderson would stay up, IMO. Pods would be gone. OMG WHAT IS THE MARKETING NOW NO MORE GRINDER.
  15. I disputed your personal experience with some of mine. There's really no point in arguing personal experience...unless... So as a way of arguing your point you cite sports talk radio and ESPN boards. Seriously? I couldn't think of a worse representation of any fanbase than talk radio. And then ESPN boards? My God, of course there were idiots posting there. IT'S THE ESPN BOARD. Yes, there are idiots who like the White Sox who love OzzieBall and GrinderBall and pretty much any made up cliche hocus pocus that could explain 4 starters and an entire bullpen playing so far above their collective heads it was ridiculous. There are also idiots who hate the Cubs and Wrigley and make a point of letting people know. I think many people, such as I, take issue with the fact that CBB acts EXACTLY like the White Sox fans he describes with so much anger. Sweet add on, totally necessary personal attack.
  16. when was the last time they needed a deadline deal for a playoff push? Shannon Stewart? Well, last season they were 10 games over .500 entering the ten days prior to the deadline and did nothing. The year before they were 10 games over and did nothing. Shannon Stewart was a solid if not mediocre corner outfielder and is not in the same league as Soriano (this season).
  17. The White Sox have finished under .500 exactly zero times in a year beginning with "200". The Tigers haven't even remotely contended in quite some time. Not to say that the fairweather attendance isn't annoying, but there are some degrees to look at there. Also the Sox fans started showing up in what, september? The tigers fans started showing up in May. One was waiting for something to cheer for, the other was waiting for a winner to cheer for. actually, I believe walk-up tickets were available to the division series games with the RedSox. they didn't have an advanced sell out until the ALCS...unless of course you include drunk Tuesdays or whatever they called it. I also don't think anyone rooted against the White Sox solely because of their attendance. the fairweatherness of their fans added to the contempt for their fans, not the contempt for the ballclub. but I suppose I do see the relation because my contempt for the White Sox is solely completely attributable to their fairweather, obnoxious fans. for instance, stop crying about Cub fans backing the Tigers, Twins and Indians when it's an indisputedable fact that many Sox fans have been huge Astro and Cardinal fans over the years. Excuse me? I don't know where you're from, but the majority of Sox fans I know personally care much more about the Sox even during losing campaigns than they do about the Cubs. I know there are exceptions (see: WSI), but that's as farfetched as me saying absolutely everyone on this board is the same as CBB and/or goes to games to party.
  18. It's a long season, I'm only worried about the timing of the slump. It kinda forces Williams to do something, otherwise he'll face a ton of heat in the press. The last thing I want is to give up a good prospect just to get middle relief. I would prefer they try to pry Humber and Heilman away from the Mets and build a little depth with the minor league system.
  19. Terry Ryan rarely trades prospects, and he will be unwilling to part with the ones that would result in Soriano coming to Minny. Also, they are a low budget team and cannot afford his salary. When was the last time they made a deadline deal? Shannon Stewart?
  20. Not only are the whitesox 6.5 out, but the Twins are now 3 behind the whitesox. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!! Let's go Twins as well!!! We should change the title to the "Offical Go White Sox enemies thread" While you're at it, why don't you change your name to TwinsIndiansTigers!?!?!!?
  21. Ryan "Little Unit" Anderson
  22. That's ridiculous. If Padilla hits anybody he will be ejected and that will probably be the end of that. Unless of course there's a brawl or something in which case it would be wildly amusing to see someone punch Buehrle in the face. Ozzie said himself: If Padilla doesn't do anything then he isn't going to do anything. I dont' get what the big deal is. The fact that he said if Padilla hits a batter, he will deliberatly hit a Texas batter. Seriously, what do you not understand? If Padilla hits a White Sox batter intentionally, for the third time this year mind you, the White Sox will retaliate. This is called stating the obvious. If a pitcher repeatedly beans the same team, any manager in all of baseball would retaliate. The fact that Ozzie is throwing this out there. You're going to retaliate, fine. But don't announce it to the whole world. Geez. You'd think after the Mariotti episode, he'd shut up. This is absolutely ridiculous. You would laud any other manager that stuck up for his players like that. Ozzie says some awful, over the top things, but he's just stating fact. In your opinion, who's wrong here, Padilla or Ozzie?
