Again, it goes back to the talent though. Other than Arkansas, MS has the smallest population of any SEC state yet has three Division I schools in it and has two powerhouses right across the border. LSU can completely monopolize their instate talent and with a school like Florida it doesn't matter that there are other big schools in the state because there are 18.6 million people there. MS only has a population of 2.9 mil. Also, schools in Alabama can afford to have two D-I schools competing because their population is double that of Ark or MS. Ole Miss did win 2 or 3 NC's back in the 50's and 60's, but of course that was a very, very different time.
