  8. You'd think they would have given Russell Crowe a different haircut for that Robin Hood movie. He looks identical to his character in Gladiator.
  9. Just put your head down and run like everyone else you mugwump
  10. Yes, the terrible Astros of all teams. I'm reminded of the line from Shakespeare's Henry V: "Good god! Why do they mock poor fellows thus?!"
  11. Again, it goes back to the talent though. Other than Arkansas, MS has the smallest population of any SEC state yet has three Division I schools in it and has two powerhouses right across the border. LSU can completely monopolize their instate talent and with a school like Florida it doesn't matter that there are other big schools in the state because there are 18.6 million people there. MS only has a population of 2.9 mil. Also, schools in Alabama can afford to have two D-I schools competing because their population is double that of Ark or MS. Ole Miss did win 2 or 3 NC's back in the 50's and 60's, but of course that was a very, very different time.

  13. That's just not gonna happen at mid-level SEC schools like Ole Miss or Ark. I think what Ole Miss has done the past two years (being ranked in top 15 and being about two wins away from being a BCS school) is about as close as it is gonna get for schools our size. We aren't LSU or BAMA and we never will be. However, Arkansas probably should be better than they are though. Y'all have the entire state to recruit from basically. Mississippi has an insane amount of football talent but it is completely distributed between Ole Miss, Miss St, and our lovely neighbors right next door: LSU and BAMA. Throw in the fact that Southern Miss occasionally steals someone like DeAndre Brown, and it is really spread thin. So I guess at least the Mississippi schools have an excuse. There's no reason Arkansas shouldn't get the majority of your in state players. And if Petrino is ever gonna do anything, he sure as hell should recruit better than he did this past year. 49th in recruiting?? At least Nutt had y'all in the top 25 just about every year.
  14. You hog fans must have delusions of grandeur or something because I wouldn't call any coach at Ole Miss a joke if we went to 8 bowl games in 10 years and won the West 3 times in those 10 years. I don't care if the coach is a professional clown, I'd take that record any day of the week and twice on sunday. That said, there are plenty of things I don't like about him so far.
  15. Thought I'd randomly point out that at age 37, Jimmie Foxx decided that he wanted to pitch some and over 9 appearances throughout the season he went 1-0 - 1.59 ERA, 22 IP, 4 ER, 13 hits, 10 K
  16. I'd be willing to bet it's blow outs more often. I'd bet on that as well. Extra inning games are generally going to be winnable for either team, so managers are likely going to keep real pitchers in there as long as you can. Of course 19 or 20 innings is just getting ridiculous though.
  17. I've seen more position players pitch in blowout games than in extra inning games. For example, when Grace pitched that one inning for the D-backs in 2002, they were losing 18-1 in the eighth.
  18. glad y'alls fantasy teams loved it because that is what is important after all :-) I watched most of this game (flipped back and forth from it and the marathon turds-mets game) and Ubaldo's no-no reminded me alot of Carlos' no-no. Just straight up power. Oh and Fowler's outfield snag was unfreakingbelievable.
  19. having a NAM-esque flashback to the Little League game I was coaching last night.
