  1. If the Cubs dont win the WS I really, really hope the Yankees or Red Sox dont.
  2. Agreed to a certain extent but this one: 4. "We make it tough for you to watch your team play." ... is true and it is an outrage. I am sitting here tonight unable to watch the Pads-Rox playoff because TBS is blocked for Puerto Rico and no one can tell me why. I called my cable provider and they told me they had no idea, but gave me an email address for TBS. MLB better cut this crap out and soon or its going to turn off a whole legion of potential new fans. It seems like greed getting in the way of common sense. This one is ridiculous. I had a Cardinal friend get the MLB package on the internet only to find out that all the Card games are blacked out in Central Illinois. Which really sucks so the only time he can see them is when they are playing the Cubs or on Sunday Afternoons the local WB station carries them
  3. Yeah but he was one of the reasons the Cubs were on the edge of total collapse.
  4. USC is full of pansy California boys who are scared of a little fall weather. :D I had the feeling this was the case. I would love to see if there is ever a playoff, some cold weather climate games are used.
  5. I have a question for Andy or any other ND fan. I know its not for a couple of weeks but I was wondering why does USC play at ND in October and ND usually plays at USC in late Nov? Is it because USC doesnt want to travel to a cold climate game or does ND want a warm climate game before the Bowl season. Or is there some other reason.
  6. Because Bettman is a dip. The schedule is so screwed up I think the Wings only played NY, Boston, Montreal and Toronto 1 time a piece last year. Yet they played the Columbus Blue Jackets 8 times.
  7. I've heard the rumors - they are asking for Kemp, LaRoche AND Kershaw. I'd tell the Twins to go jump off a cliff. Can't hurt to ask unless the Twins take it literally and do jump of a cliff. This young man could create quite the bidding war. I would tell them to take a hike also but will Colleti. Jeff Kent of all people is infuencing decisions from the owner. If I was a Dodger fan I would be real nervous about this. Also as good as Santana is he is going to be overvalued in a trade, where as Kemp is going to be undervalued.
  8. When Soriano tries to be more patient he reminds me of CPatt. Taking the first pitch everytime does not make you a patient hitter. It has more to do with understanding your own limitations. There is nothing wrong with swinging at the first pitch if it is something that you can normally drive. The problem with the Soriano types is they think they can normally drive anything. So its not like he is taking to see if he can get a better pitch later. He is taking because someone is telling him to be more patient. A lot of times what ends up happening is he takes the first pitch which was hittable and ends up swinging at the next 2 which are not as good. So basically it is probably better to let Soriano be Soriano. To bad we paid him to be Vlad.
  9. I agree. As hard as it is to say this I trust Marquis more than I would trust Zambrano on short rest at home.
  10. Baseball and College FB are #1 in my book. Hockey is 3rd. I find myself not that interested after the Wings are eliminated. I hardly ever watch NFL football. It is extremely booorrrriiinnnggg!!! I do have a fantasy team and follow the box scores ever week. I really think if it wasnt for gambling and fantasy football, the NFL wouldnt be any more popular than Baseball or College FB.
  11. I read somewhere over the Weekend that the Twins are going to possibly trade Johan Santana to the Dodgers for Kemp plus others. It was obviously just some sportswriters dream. However I think the Twins would be willing to make that kind of move, so Cubs better be willing to offer at least DLee.
  12. this is the strategy I would use.
  13. He is basically the pre 98 Sammy Sosa. Except several years older. If he would ever all of a sudden have some sort of plate discipline like Sammy got in 98, I would be extatic with him. If not he is way overpaid.
  14. I know if you lose you drop in the polls. So I wasnt surprised that Michigan St dropped. I actually would have ranked them higher after yesterdays game though. They played real well in a tough place. I really like them to finish 9-3 now. Of course old MSU can comeback and just collapse after the teams first lose.
  15. I'm fine with it, simply because he will be on a very short leash if he is not on. However if he is on it could be a great thing against them. Arizona doesn't score a whole lot of runs they are 28th in BA and OBP, and 15th in K's. You just have to be ready to pull him at any point of the game. I'm fine with that as long as Zambrano is on the same short leash. He has been much more inconsistent. He has not pitched his way out of trouble very well. He has no previous playoff success.
  16. They've played Georgia Tech and nobody else. Next week is Bowling Green. No one will ever adequately explain to me why teams need to play cupcakes in the month of October. If there was a playoff than it would be better to lose to a good team in October. Since there is no playoff, it is better to make sure that you win than play a game you may lose. I may have ranked LSU above USC before this week. LSU didnt do anything this week to make me put them ahead of USC. AP poll doesnt count so it really dont make a difference.
  17. I think if he had league average run support he would seem really good.
  18. Kings beat the Ducks 4-1 in London. I didnt realize these games counted.
  19. I dont follow the Brewers much more than if the won or lost and generally who is doing well. Why is Yost a bad manager? What are some specific things that he does that the Brewers fans dont like? I always admired how he will give young guys a chance
  20. Ohio St has played the 2 worst teams in the Big Ten. I really dont think they will win the rest of their Big Ten games. I wouldnt be surprised if they lose their next one. I also wouldnt be surprised if the winner of the Big Ten has 2 conference losses. The Big Ten might not have a great team this year but they have 8 good teams.
  21. I don't think he'll go and he shouldn't go. After this season USF will come up with the money to keep him there. He has it made there. He has the hottest new program in the country and couldn't be in a better place for recruiting. They've recently been giving him the resources and he's got that thing rolling. He's in a good but not great BCS conference. Plus he doesn't have to deal with super-high expectations. It's funny, five years back when Ferentz was really looking into the Jaguars job I was told that IF Kirk left, Jim Leavitt was a guy identified as a top target. I had no idea who he was at the time but he spent 10 years in Iowa and was a grad assistant under Hayden Fry. He's turned down some interest in the last couple of years and I think he would be crazy to go anywhere now. Isn't it amazing how many of today's big name coaches had a history under Fry and Bill Snyder? Yeah, Hayden sure had an eye for coaching talent and that wasn't lost on Snyder. As an Iowa homer, I don't think he gets enough credit for that. In regards to a coaching tree, he is to college football what Bill Walsh is to the NFL. I haven't seen any that compare to it. It's a double edged sword though and that led to Iowa's dropoff after the 80's, early 90's. It's impossible to keep replacing coaches of that quality. That and the fact that Hayden didn't really like to recruit near the end. Bo Schembechlers has to be pretty impressive also.
  22. I dont think this is a terrible signing. The Sox have no position players ready to come up. Pierzynski is going to be 31 next year. He isnt a great catcher but he is pretty solid. May also increase his trade value at next years deadline if he is hitting ok.
  23. Thankfully the Wisconsin-MSU game is just as good, or else I'd be pretty pissed that the Oregon-Cal game isn't on over here. since when is defensive holding not an automatic first down? Cost the Badgers a TD (more than likely). That ref made a huge goof. I couldnt believe it. I also couldnt believe that between the 3 guys fighting to be heard in the booth one of them didnt mention it either. Of course after seeing the replay I didnt even see contact let alone holding.
  24. WGN They were on everyday when I was a kid
