  1. They play a Red Rover tournament to determine who goes to the next round. "Red Rover Red Rover send Carlos Zambrano on over"
  2. The Little Ceasar Pizza guy is going to buy the Hawks.
  3. Honestly I think I would take Ohman over Hart. There might be a situation in the playoffs where we need a loogy. I think the only time Hart pitches would be garbage time. Just my gut feeling on that. I also think Monroe is going instead of either Fontenot or Cedeno.
  4. To top it off, Trachsel actually thinks he had good stuff yesterday. Cubs might have lost by 10 if he had his bad stuff. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070927cubsbrite,1,3942748.story?coll=cs-home-headlines This is where Lou is really wrong. His 5th starter has an ERA of 4.00. For some reason Lou chose to go with his 6th starter who really sucks.
  5. Wow. He does have the 2nd best ERA amongst our starting pitchers. I think he was more than Decent. I also think the only one who got screwed was Marshall, not Marshall screwing the Cubs.
  6. Tigers. From my Michigan roots. I hate the Red Sox everybit as much as I hate the Yankees
  7. So Monroe has 1 HR and that makes up for a month of crap.
  8. My neighbor is named Merckle. He has something wrong with his penis where he always got a boner. So they had to surgically put a valve in that controlled the flow of blood. So everytime he wants to do it he has to push a button in his stomach to make it hard. When he is done he pushes it again to bring it down. Just kidding, except I do have a neighbor named Merckle and I have heard a story about another guy with the penis thing. Back to the main subject. I have also read reports that Merckle actually made it to 2nd base. It is a real compelling story. I might pick up that book about 08.
  9. Think of the money the Dodgers are spending on Frucal, Pierre, Schmidt, Wolf, Garciaparra, Gonzalez, Hendrickson. I am sure there is more that I am not thinking of. Thats got to be like $60 million in suckage and injuries. I dont think there is any real surprise in how any of these guys are performing or their injuries. Yet its the young guys disrespecting the game that is causing them to lose
  10. I read a couple of more articles on the Dodgers feud. I really think if the Cubs were willing to trade DLee, They could get Kemp and Loney in return. Some other stuff would have to be worked out, but I think its doable. Dont get me wrong about DLee. I love him and wouldnt want to trade him. However JJones is not going to get use one of these guys. DLee is getting to back end of his prime. He has had only 1 season where he was great. If we could get 2 players under 24 who are already producing well in the majors. I think the Cubs should boldly make this kind of move. But no I dont think Hendry would do it. No Way the Dodgers trade Martin.
  11. How often does Jeff Kent have to be involved with this sort of stuff? Even more stupider is Colleti even considering moving some of these young guys to appease these veterans. I would be getting rid of Kent, Gonzalez and Wells in a heart beat. How much veteran presence do they need. They already have Pierre, Penny and LGon who have won World Series. They have Kent, Frucal, Lowe, Garciaparra and Wells also. Is there a veteran quota that all champion teams must meet. Did the Cardinals have it last year, Did Florida have it in 2003.? Angels in 2002? Sounds like a excuse for losing. Might as well blame the rookies who dont respect the game. Next will be the umps or manager. Everything except looking in the mirror and saying what can I do better.
  12. Wow just about everything that you posted here is kind of depressing.
  13. Whoa, you're telling me an Ohio State player had a run-in with the law? I'm shocked. Geez, next you'll tell me Michigan football players all major in BS like "general studies" and get basically no education. Wait, what? Or that Notre Dame players are actually Catholic. I sincerely hope no one is stupid enough to believe Notre Dame players are Catholic. There are a great many students at that school, athletes and nonathletes, who aren't. Ok or that Notre Dame football players are Real college students that are getting engineering degrees and such.

  15. When people say things like this I usually say, "You can have your team of Theriots and I will take my team of ARams and we will see who wins more" It is pretty silly that people make these sort of claims. The one thing I think should be pointed out though, was how bad was our SS production the last few years that Theriot is considered a team MVP.
  16. I think he is pretty accurate with his column. I think some of the farm guys who are contributing, its more of a matter that they are better than the Neifis, Macias, Bynums, Mabrys. Not that they are really good everyday players.
  17. In the 74 WS they didnt have the desinated hitter they had a desinated runner though. I think Herb was the guy for the As
  18. There are people in this country who do not have cable tv. They get local signal thru an antenea. they do not get TBS. In the past when ESPN covered the playoffs, They allowed local channels to carry the signal so these people without cable could watch their local team. TBS is not allowing this.
  19. I wasnt ignoring the ump. Anyway I have been in jail twice in my life for beating people up. Been in several more scraps. I understand how emotions can get the best of us. What I have learned though is to control my emotions in these circumstances. Also if I was to tell you what happened that caused me to beat up the guys who I got arrested for beating up, most people would think I was justified. I know now that I wasnt.
  20. I have a baseball reference question maybe someone can answer. Is it possible to sort out players under the age of 24 who have had and OPS+ of 130 or more?
  21. There is never a excusable reason to behave the way Bradley did. One of the sadest thing in this country is that somehow that type of behavior is ok as long as the circumstances are right. Well who is to judge if the circumstances are right. I am not excusing Winters part in this. I am just saying there is no excuse for Bradleys. The problem with this is it ignores the person who is in a position of authority and has abused his power. You're sweeping what the ump has done aside to solely fault Bradley. Milton Bradley is a guy who was run out of Cleveland and LA with the help of the front office and team, now he's being defended his own teammates for doing something that looks pretty stupid (but has more than one party to blame). I'll say it again, it's easy to criticize when you're afar, especially when it's someone who has a (deserved) poor reputation like Bradley and we don't have all the facts yet. What say those of you who ignore that his first base coach said he'd have attacked the ump much earlier than Bradley did? So it is ok to act the way he did because he wasnt going to get his way? Because someone said something? Someone in Authority? Where do we draw the line that it is ok to physically attack someone? Would it have been ok for him to do what he did to a female umpire who may have said the same things? Would it have been ok if he actually hit Winters and Winters was killed or seriously injured? I am not attacking Bradley because of who he is. I am judging his actions in this incident. I would say the same thing about Dereck Lee if it was him. To react the way he did was not right. If the umpire was out of line with what he was saying there were 2 other witnesses and I am sure the umpire could have been punished.
  22. Just because it tends to go there doesn't make it right. If Tim Tebow continues to have the season he's having and he doesn't win the Heisman it's freaking criminal. Dont you think he will slow down quite abit against those Vaunted SEC defenses though.
  23. There is never a excusable reason to behave the way Bradley did. One of the sadest thing in this country is that somehow that type of behavior is ok as long as the circumstances are right. Well who is to judge if the circumstances are right. I am not excusing Winters part in this. I am just saying there is no excuse for Bradleys. there clearly are excusable reasons to behave the way bradley did. he was a lot more mature and civil than winters. Our actions cannot be dictated by the actions of others. People need to control themselves in all circumstances. Truth is Bradley isnt behaving like that if its Lennox Lewis he has to go after. He was trying to physically intimidate or attack someone for something the person said. Sticks and Stones.
  24. With the fact that Henne has either sucked or been out, and the job he did against a good Penn St defense. Also the Heisman tends to go to upper classman. My vote right now may be for Mike Hart.
