  1. Sick, but expected. SEC sportswriters are delusional and Big 12 sportswriters tend not to be. I believe you have that backwards.......Big 12 sportwriters tend to be more delusional. Atleast the SEC has the teams to back it up.... And the delusion continues
  2. Being a MSU fan, I watch the game today just waiting for them to do something to screw up...I dont think we are talented enough to do anything really big, but at least it looks like we wont be throwing games away.
  3. I really enjoyed the SI article. At least it just wasnt someone say "back in the old days the pitchers were tougher, there wasnt no pitch counts..etc..etc..etc." That being said I still think its a bad idea to over pitch a 24 yr old based on his fathers knowledge of the subject.
  4. I am not trying to start a fight, I just wanted to know what you like about Lang? As a Wings fan I cant think of too many players who have played for the Wings over the last 20 years that I disliked more. Its not just the fact that he is lazy on defense. On offense he tries to hard to make spectacular plays and loses the puck. Plus he gets knocked off the puck very easily for a guy his size. About the only thing that I ever really like about him is that he is strong of the PP. All that being said I only seen him about 15 times last year playing for the Hawks. Maybe his game was different in Chicago. Hawks fans haven't had many guys capable of actually scoring. I didn't see many games. I've heard very little about him being lazy, and considering the source is Rozner, I don't put much stock in it. Maybe lazy isnt the right word. I would say that I always thought that Lang was more committed to his game than he was the teams game. On the Wings who are committed to puck control and defensive responsibility, someone like Lang(not very defensive responsible and trying to make great plays) did not fit in very well.

  6. I know Lloyd Carr was real unpopular amongst Michigan fans the last couple of years. I dont think you would ever see one of his teams make as many mistakes as Michigan has this game.
  7. This is a myth. It is very subjective to each INDIVIDUAL situation. Which would make it more of an individual stat than a team stat.
  8. Another question about the Sac bunt situation. What is the point of pinch running if you are just going to use the Sac bunt? Lou gambled by taking a better hitter out of a tie game for more speed. He then negated the speed factor by trying a sac bunt. It really makes no sense.
  9. I didnt listen to any post game reactions or read all 4 pages of this. First of all I want to be very clear that I am not in favor of the Sac bunt in the situation that Geo was called to do it last night. Did anyone find some high level of hypocrisy that people were complaining that Soto didnt get a "good" bunt down, yet Soriano wasnt even called on to bunt in pretty much the same circumstance the next inning. IF one is to dog on Soto for bad fundamentals, than they would also have to dog on Lou for not calling the bunt in the same situation the next inning.
  10. michigan sucks
  11. What happened to everyone except Magglio and Cabrera I wonder. Cabrera has actually performed better than I had expected, to be honest. But yeah the restof that team is an anomaly. They should've torched the AL I was looking over the Tigers roster a couple of weeks ago and came to the conclusion that I was not surprised about how anyone did....it just seemed that they had a large number of players preform at the low end of expectations than at the higher end
  12. Excites the few ND delusional fans who actually believe him (less than 15% I'd say) and continually inflames the ND hate from everybody else. The 85% of the remainder of ND fans are caught in the middle left wondering how he slipped down the hill so quickly. He's the worst analyst at ESPN, but he does seem to get a lot of people awfully fired up over his comments (not saying that you're doing that), so that's probably why he has a job. It's sad too-ESPN execs probably knowingly continue to sell him the lie that he's there because he provides quality analysis even though everybody knows that he just continues to embarrass himself. the Rush Limbaugh of ESPN's college football coverage?
  13. I would vote for Kurt Schilling 3 times and Roger Clemens twice...neither is an option
  14. I have this vision of the Cubs leading 5-4 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th in game seven of the WS. Kerry Wood than hits Mark Texiera with a 1-2 inside fastball. Vlad than hits a routine warning shot fly to left, Soriano does his hop to catch the ball and drops it, Ball roles away and it takes Edmonds a couple of weeks to get to it. Vlad comes all the way around to score, Angels win, the rally monkey becomes the new goat. And the Ron Santo call becomes standard agony of defeat in all of sportbroadcasting
  15. You poor Penn State fans, always with the little guy syndrome. It's okay, Penn State will be good one of these years. I'd wager a bet that PSU wins more games than UM this year. I think the team that wins the PSU/Mich game will have 1 more win. Since there is about as much mystery in the winner of that game as there is in the OSU/Michigan game, I will take that wager I don't have much confidence in either team to be honest I think they both will be 8-4/7-5...so I would agree with you

  17. Size doesn't matter in this arguement. All that matters is what city has a very high concentration of Big Ten fans, is centrally located, and has a rather diverse fan base of teams (i.e. cities like Columbus and Ann Arbor are 99.9% fans of one team). Indy has more Iu fans than anything else but Purdue is close and Illinois is pretty close to Purdue. IU and Purdue are an hour away while Illinois is a little under 2 hours away. Northwestern is the only school within 3 hours of Chicago (at least I think). But like I said I really don't think there is any one city that is the beating heart of the Big Ten. I agree that Chicago isnt the beating heart of the Big Ten, However within 3 hrs of Chicago are N'western, Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue.....Close to the 3 hr range Michigan, MSU, Iowa, and Indiana....Minnesota and OSU are probably under 6. That is 10 of 11.
  18. I have had to do a mea culpa to just about everyone I know when it comes to Dempster. I dont know how much crap I talked about him on this site, but I was totally wrong about him. That being said I would consider option #3. Rich Harden
  19. NUN to his dad: I would love to have Adam Dunn NUN's dad: Are you kidding me, all he does is KO and HR NUN: Thats really not true, but what is the difference between a KO and a 4-3 NUN's dad: He still is only hitting .230 NUN: but his obp is .380 NUN's dad: goes on and on about how Dunn doesnt play the game right and so on and so on with no actual facts to support any of this but goes on to "prove" his point by saying that Dunn has won no championships NUN: How many championships has Reed Johnson won? NUN is told leave until he learns something about baseball. Moral of story, I have started to were capris to my dads house THE END
  20. i am going to predict that michigan state does what they always do, start out good, lose a game to a good team that they should've won, then go in the toilet. They did lose overtime games to Iowa and N'western last year(bad). However they played Michigan, OSU and Wisconsin very close and closed out the season beating Purdue and Penn St to make a bowl game. They were heavy underdogs against Boston College and played them close. So I dont think they kept the same pattern that they had done under Smith. They rallied to make a very respectable season.
  21. I am pretty excited about Michigan St. I think we are going to be surprisingly good. I dont know if beating Cal would be an upset this year, but it would be a great start to the season.
  22. Jeter. an overrated defender who puts up good offensive numbers(and makes some highlight film plays) from a defense first position. Would probably be considered a star if he played for the Rangers or Wings. Since Jeter main claim to fame was making highlight film plays for a championship team in New York he has become a superstar. That being said, the Hawks have a good set of defensive defensemen, so its not like Campbell is going to anchor the penalty kill. He will improve their power play and make Toews and Kane better offensive players.
  23. Ruutu got traded last season at the deadline. As a fan of the defending Stanley Cup Champions Detroit Red Wings, I am pretty happy that the Blackhawks are getting better. Nashville is just not that exciting of a rivalry. So since the demise of the Blues and Avalanche from being real good teams, there really hasnt been anyone to get real excited about playing as a Wings fan. So I hope that in the next couple of years the Hawks can become a top half of the Western conference team and the rivalry with the Wings really heats up. If so I will be here to agitate as much as possible. Go Wings
  24. What about the Glenallen Hill, Jose Hernandez, Sammy Sosa outfield that the Cubs used for a time in 1998? I think in 86 the Cubs had a starting OF of a really old Gary Mathews, a really old Jerry Mumphrey and Keith Moreland.
  25. I really liked Skip. I always thought he was the rare exception where nepatism(sp) works
