  2. "Dude, we needed more experience on the ground crew. Have the field set up to your teams strengths is important. Worth a couple of wins a year. You have some rookie out there working hard, but he might not mix the water and fertilizer correct. With Rich Aurelia at Short we are going to need thicker taller grass. We need experience on the ground crew to assure that."
  3. I just got off the phone with my Tiger fan Dad. All he can think about is Juan Gonzalez.
  4. Wow. I think I would just go with Ron English, if this is what they were going to do.
  5. So to start the embarrassment where do you go after click on the link?
  6. Jeepers...every coach is using another school to get an extension and more cash. except JoePa I am sure back in the 70s when the NFL jobs were being offered to Paterno, he never got a raise to stay at PSU.

  8. As Ohio State and Michigan found out last year, the top Big Ten teams just don't have the talent, speed or depth to play with the top teams from the SEC and PAC Ten. Although with former SEC guy Zook in charge, the Illini are starting to recruit the right kind of players. Not only is Illinois going to get blown out, the remaining Big three of the Big Ten (Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin) are going to get outclassed by three SEC teams (LSU, Florida and Tennessee) who play in a much tougher conference. LSU > Ohio State Georgia > Illinois Tennessee > Michigan (and Appalachian State) Florida > Wisconsin Arkansas > Penn State Auburn > Iowa Kentucky > Indiana Miss. State > Mich State Purdue = Alabama South Carolina = Northwestern Vanderbilt > Minesota You do realize that the Big Ten took 2 out of 3 last year from the SEC? I think they will win at least 1 this year also. Probably 2. If they were quasi home games for the Big Ten they may win all 3. You do realize that the second best team in the SEC was busy blowing out Notre Dame while the second best team in the Big Ten was getting killed by the Trojans? You do realize the 2nd best team in the Big Ten blew out Notre Dame last year also. At Notre Dame. Not in another home sec bowl game. It really means nothing. What does mean something is that the Big Ten took 2 out of 3 from the vastly superior SEC last year. Again I have said it before and will say it again. The SEC is probably better then the Big Ten. The SEC is not next to the NFL like most of you SEC guys want to pretend. Bowl records, overall records and Top draft picks would say that the Big Ten is pretty close to the SEC over the last 10 years.

  10. My Giant fan brother says that in the Bay Area they are talking about trading Lincecum before he throws his arm off. Thats why he is available.
  11. I was wondering what the Pirates could possibly be thinking. McLouth is cheap and gives a little production. The only thing that they could possibly hope for in Cotts is that he returns to his 2005 form and they trade him for a younger prospect.
  12. Is McLouth a top prospect? No, but Neal Cotts is.
  13. I agree. I think the Tigers only taking Willis off Marlins hands. If I were the Tigers I would keep Inge. He isnt horrible. I think he can play several positions. Sheffield will be lucky to play 130 games. Cabrera can DH and Inge can play 3rd base those games. Tigers sure are gutting their farm system this off-season. If this trade happens they will have a strong lineup though with quality pitching.
  14. 1. Babe Ruth 2. Ted Williams
  15. I have more of a problem with Illinois getting in and not Mizzou. I don't like these bowl tie ins and it screws up the rest of the system which is bad enough as it is. But Illinois getting in had nothing to do with Missouri. Once Kansas was in, Missouri couldn't get in. Same deal with Florida. Really, the only option better than Illinois that the Rose had was Arizona State, and they weren't about to schedule a conference rematch. Bukie is right. Illinois is not the reason Missouri didnt get in. Also I dont know where else I posted this but, The Rose Bowl is very loyal to the Big Ten and Pac Ten because those conferences were loyal to the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl would have been pushed out of the BCS except those 2 conferences said they wouldnt get involved unless the Rose Bowl was involved. It's the other way around. The Rose Bowl wanted all the marbles and when they found out the other bowls had a deal, they conceded but still kept the Big 10 vs Pac 10 thing. The BCS is bad enough but these bowl tie ins have made it way worse. You are right that the Rose Bowl wanted all the marbles. When they didnt get them and were going to be forced out, The Big 10 and Pac 10 wouldnt get into the BCS unless the Rose Bowl was included. I agree that the Rose Bowl put themselves into the bad spot. They were bailed out by the Big Ten and the Pac 10 though. They very easily could be the Cotton Bowl right now.
  16. Meph I am with you on this one. I think they should have a 11 game season. 8 conference games. 1 game against a school from another BCS conference. 1 game against a school from a non-bcs con. These 2 games are scheduled by a NCAA official. 1 wild card game. The wild card game is for independents and rival games that might not fit in with the other 10 games.

  18. I'm going to predict an OSU win over LSU. I'm also going to predict that shortly afterwards we'll see a long overly complicated rationalization using mathematical models of why LSU was the better team and "should have" won by Meph. Were you one of the many on here last year predicting an Ohio State win over Florida? Oh, I get it. Ohio State lost to Florida last year, so they can't beat LSU this year. Gotcha. Ohio State isn't as good as they were last year and LSU is better this year than Florida was last year so yeah is make sense to predict another SEC blowout of a Big Ten team. 1st off like Meph will probably tell you one game has many different variables. Florida routing OSU last year was probably a fluke. 2nd Its still has no value in predicting this years game 3rd What LSU team have you been watching? It certainly isnt one that is better than Florida last year. I keep hearing that LSU could easily be undefeated. They just as easily could have 4 losses and being playing in the Cotton Bowl.
  19. funny how our biggest weakness offensively was against LHed pitching. Makes the quote even dumber
  20. I thought they seemed a little off.
  21. Well guess the odd setters dont really agree with half this board huh. U of I -6 and OSU -3. The only reason LSU is favored is basically because its a home game. Half this board thinks that last years bowl results have something to do with this years. Also Illinois is plus 6 and OSU is favored.
  22. OSU favored by 3. I admit I am surprised by this.
  23. If OSU wins or even makes it less than 10 are you going to give a mea culpa. I understand that OSU didnt play the toughest schedule but they manhandled everyone except Illinois. LSU may have played a better schedule but probably should have lost a couple of more games. Just off the top of my head they very easily could have lost to Tennessee yesterday and Auburn and Florida. That the go along with the 2 losses they do have. If this wasnt going to be a home game for LSU I would pick OSU to win outright.
  24. I am happy to play Boston College. I dont think they are good enough to blow us out. However we wont be expected to win. So its really a no lose situation for MSU. As for Michigan/Florida, If Henne and Hart are healthy I think that game will be better than expected. I still think Florida will win. If they arent healthy. Well I really liked the Big Ten this bowl season to redeem themselves some untill OSU moved up. Now I think they will be lucky to 3.
  25. Agreed. I think I know what it's like being a Michigan State fan at this point. I can't root for Michigan to beat Ohio State anymore, so I just have to root for bad things to happen to them. I am a MSU fan and I root for Michigan in every non-conference game. It surely doesnt make us any better if Michigan and OSU lose there bowl games. I think the only reason LSU wins this game is because its a home game. If it was played in Cleveland, OSU would win easily.
