    Agreed. Not already saying he's a bum, but it's becoming more and more apparent that a catcher will have to come from outside the organization.

    Nothing was worse than last year IMO. We were just as bad, but Castro and Rizzo looked awful and we didn't have Baez and friends to look forward to.

    N. Ramirez strikes out the side in the 8th with a BB. Listening to the Zephyrs broadcast and they're saying he is touching 99 MPH on the gun. Does that sound right?

    I don't know if anyone else heard Shark in studio on the DP show this morning, but he was pretty good. Highlights: -He admitted to pitching with hangovers early in his career. "Giving millions to a 22 year old in Chicago? WTH were they thinking?" -He actually sounded genuine in saying he wanted to spend his entire career in Chicago and respects them as the organization who helped him choose baseball. -Almost the next breath, he said he's sick of losing and that he wants to see an effort to win every season, and he knows he only has a window of being at his peak. -Dan Patrick ended the interview by saying that Shark will be traded this season. Shark did not correct him.

    Ha! I am debating which is douchier-his tweet or hashtags #classlesscubs #notworried. How is it one of the best franchises in MLB history still has the whiniest bitch fans? No idea, but I immediately posted the link to FB just to see what kind of crap I can stir amongst their most loyal. I was debating doing that also, but thought better of it.

    No, not buying that. If that were the case then they could have just kept Sveum. What? They fired Sveum because they felt he was [expletive] at developing players. And almost everything they said about Renteria had to do with how they thought he'd do developing young players. That's not to say anything of Heisenberg's post overall. OK, fair enough. I guess what I was getting at was that IMO Sveum was the guy they hired knowing he would never be the manager of their first playoff win. He was hired with a purpose of development and "holding players accountable". In the end he was just bad at those things it turns out. EDIT: I think/hope they see Renteria as the guy for the next several years.

    It's early, but Renteria has shown a tendency to really overmanage games so far.

    Arkansas was not left in the best of shape when Eddie left, and Nolan coached there for 17 years, hardly very short. As for borderline HOF, Nolan's was in 3 Final 4s, and in the title game twice winning one title. That's very comparable to John Thompson, Lute Olsen, Jim Boeheim or Jerry Tarkanian. It's absolutely better than Ray Meyer or Al McGuirre.

    What a pointless stat. On its own merits, maybe. As part of a resume to enter the HOF, hardly pointless. Putting an NIT win on a resume post-1970s is pointless You're nitpicking, but fine. At the minimum it's an interesting footnote to a HOF career. Do you think he's not worthy of that or are you just being contrary?

    The Naismith Basketball HOF class will be introduced tonight, and among the inductees will be Nolan Richardson. He changed the way the game is played. Only coach ever to win an NIT, NCAAJC and NCAA title and he coached in 3 Final Fours. I'll never forget before the title game against Duke, Dean Smith was on CBS saying Duke would win because they were "the smarter team". Nolan was an big, angry black man and race was a huge reason why he wasn't viewed in the same league with other elite coaches.     I guess if we get down to one's definition of "competitive", but I see that meaning playing meaningful games into August, or within 5 games of the last WC. IMO, we are there next year. If the Cubs lose 90 games next year, I'm not drinking the Kool Aid anymore.
