  1. back to reality
  2. Pulisic on the bench today for Chelsea in their UCL match at Malmo. [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. The Celtics did not get a single defensive rebound in the 4th quarter.
  4. brb ordering ayo dosunmu jersey
  5. In the past two weeks, my thoughts about this season for the Bulls have grown from "borderline .500 team hoping to get out of the play-in game" to "they might finish with a better regular season record than Milwaukee". However, for the experts and projections, they've improved from a 36-win team to a 41-win team. Analytics focused solely on team performance thus far this season, like Sagarin or SRS, have the Bulls much higher than most projections. Sagarin has them 8th overall behind Utah, Miami, Brooklyn, Philly, Milwaukee, Golden State and Denver (and ahead of the Lakers and Suns and Knicks), which really feels about right. It'd still put them 5th in the East, which is both something I'd have taken going into the season and slightly disappointing based on how well they've already played.
  6. The missed PAT less so. Anyways, the last time we had a Bears QB who could take dead in the water and turn it into something was maybe Cutler. Nice to have just a natural talent. Honestly, Trubisky pulled a few of those jailbreak runs out as well. Fields has been off on a few throws. For a rook, I guess it’s good but I haven’t seen anything too much different than Trubisky. He's 16 for 20. This is as bad a take as I've seen, and I've read some bad takes over the years.
  7. Has the defense even forced a punt today?
  8. Oddly enough, the Patrick Williams minutes lost to injury were picked up mostly by Ayo Dosunmu tonight, who got 21 minutes of gametime, part of effectively 7 rotation players who got significant minutes in the game (starting 5 with Green, then Caruso and Ayo). A lot of even smaller lineups for the Bulls tonight, who had a smallish rotation to begin with.
  9. This is the first 4-game winning streak Zach Lavine has ever had in the NBA.
  10. Bulls are 4-0 for the first time since the 1996-1997 season. Crazy.
  11. Read this article, and talk yourself into feeling better about the Bulls D: https://ontapsportsnet.com/2021/10/20/the-chicago-bulls-defense-is-better-than-you-think/
  12. There have been several discussions relating to how the Bulls preseason performance and how predictive it is of in-season performance. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. What the heck is he doing? I can excuse the offsides play but this one made no sense and he looked so confident when throwing it It looks like both times Fields was expecting Robinson to break for the end zone, but he gave up on the play both times.
  14. Just once, let's try using Pulisic with the MMA midfield: [tweet] [/tweet] Boggles my mind that Pulisic has never been in a lineup with even two of the MMA midfield. Really hoping CP and Reyna are healthy for Mexico next month. Go with a starting XI of Pulisic-Pepi-Reyna McKennie-Adams-Musah Dest-M. Robinson-Brooks(?)-A. Robinson Turner just to see what the best XI can do against a real team. I understand the need to rotate and such, but this would seem to be the perfect cycle to go with the best up front, then rotate some out for Jamaica, and be OK with just the two game window.
  15. Yeah I don't begrudge anyone being wary about it, especially overall. I think where I try to point out the bright side is when we talk about what a good v. bad window looks like. It seems like people at times can miss that there's a gap between what a reasonable expectation is given the opponents, and what would truly be damaging to their qualification chances. Yeah, the USMNT has done exactly what is necessary so far, and the rest of the teams have effectively drawn enough games such that the bar is even a bit lower at this point for qualification. The only real annoying thing thus far is that loss to Panama keeping Panama close, as a draw there would've effectively separated Mexico-US-Canada from everyone else.
  16. Last night, the oldest player in the US starting lineup was 26. The youngest player in the Costa Rica starting lineup was 27.
  17. I'd like to see this MMA midfield with a front line of Pulisic/Reyna/Pepi against Mexico next month (and Jamaica?)
  18. If only the USMNT could have drawn that Panama game they'd be well clear already.
  19. Second consecutive "just well enough " qualifying cycle, with Mexico at home then at Jamaica next. In a good spot overall with Mexico doing as expected, Costa Rica worse, and Canada and Panama a bit better.
  20. Really wish they got a 2nd before the half. Now CR gets a chance to regroup and bunker in for a while.
  21. Yes, goalkeeper was the problem area against Panama.
  22. 3 months later, I still have no idea why the White Sox traded for Kimbrel. It wasn't a position of need, they weren't really blocking him from another close rival, and once they got him they used him about as poorly as possible. As I read somewhere recently, Kimbrel was the perfect TLR closer on a TLR team that never used him that way. Add that to TLR basically torpedoing Yermin Mercedes early in the year, and you wonder what TLR really added to the team this year. He took a championship contender and led them to coasting to winning a division where nobody else tried, finishing with the worst division winner record in the AL to cost them an extra playoff home game, then showing one inning of life in 4 playoff games. I wasn't necessarily the biggest Renteria fan out there, but I think he could have managed to do that with less controversy.
  23. Everything about this game, lineup, play style and coaching angered me. I hate that this happened, and was completely unnecessary.
  24. Lineup is...I don't get it.
