In the past two weeks, my thoughts about this season for the Bulls have grown from "borderline .500 team hoping to get out of the play-in game" to "they might finish with a better regular season record than Milwaukee". However, for the experts and projections, they've improved from a 36-win team to a 41-win team. Analytics focused solely on team performance thus far this season, like Sagarin or SRS, have the Bulls much higher than most projections. Sagarin has them 8th overall behind Utah, Miami, Brooklyn, Philly, Milwaukee, Golden State and Denver (and ahead of the Lakers and Suns and Knicks), which really feels about right. It'd still put them 5th in the East, which is both something I'd have taken going into the season and slightly disappointing based on how well they've already played.
