  1. In before someone tries the "Michigan is a better job than those NFL jobs" argument
  2. So far, I'm just glad the Bears haven't been implicated, not because I don't think they aren't terrible owners, it's more just hopeful they are indiscriminately terrible.
  3. I know this is obviously cherry-picking his great moments, but I don't know how anyone can watch this video and still say that Fields is a failed QB who can't be salvaged at this point. To be fair it's largely rival fans looking at his numbers, but the number of people who treat Fields a bust is ridiculous. Also a nice reminder of how tough the Bears schedule was this year, as the highlights include games with the Rams, Bengals, Raiders, Packers, Bucs, 49ers, Cardinals, Packers again, just relentless. And Fields did it with an offensive line that was easily bottom third in the NFL (I think Peters was mostly solid, but everyone else was pretty bad), and I'm excited to see what Fields can do with an offense tailored to him and an OL that can give him 3 seconds of pass protection.
  4. Is it better than Admirals? Both of those suck. Also, what’s the casual, abbreviated form of Commanders? “Let’s go Coms!” sounds like a cheer for a squad of self-aware machines. Let's go Commies! Works with the red theme.
  5. Rams-Bengals it is. I am ok with this outcome.
  6. Could be two years running that the Bears beat the Super Bowl champs.
  7. Whenever Dosunmu isn't in the game, the on ball defense is atrocious. Fully healthy, the team typically has Lonzo and Caruso to provide good on ball defense, without them, the roster is just thin on defense.
  8. Ayo doing other things well:
  9. I wonder if this will be the time an alternative football league will survive an entire season.

  11. Here's the scenario I think is the likeliest this cycle: US gets 7 points (W vs ES/HON, draw @CAN) MEX gets 7 points (W vs CR/PAN, draw @JAM) CAN gets 3-5 points (3 draws or 2 draws and a win, or W-L-D) PAN gets 1-3 points (Draw/Win vs JAM, 2 Ls) Which would leave the USMNT first, Mexico 2nd, Canada 3rd, with the US 5-7 points clear of 4th, needing just a win vs Panama at home in the final cycle to clinch a spot.
  12. But I think you are basing your opinion too much on one failed hire. Look at 3 examples that worked out well in this weekend's conference championship games. That said I definitely don't think the Bears HAD to make an offensive hire for it to work out...I just would have preferred knowing that we had a coach that has developed great QBs in the past. And no Matt Nagy developing Mahomes doesn't count Marc Trestman was also an offensive minded coach that didn't exactly work out well. It's far more important to get an offensive coach that can run a quality offense and whom the HC allows to run that quality offense.
  13. Honestly, after the mess that was Nagy running/not running the offense, I'm less gung-ho about needing an offensive-minded head coach. Head coach just needs to be a guy that can manage a bunch of other talented guys on staff and is willing to listen to them. Just that would be a significant upgrade.
  14. I had understood that McCaskey and his advisors have their top 3 candidates, who Poles will interview tomorrow (Caldwell, Eberflus, Quinn) . If he likes one of those 3, the Bears have a head coach. If not, he will expand the list and interview others after tomorrow.
  15. Illinois somehow beats MSU with noCockburn, no Curbelo, a sick Frazier who still played 38 minutes, and no big men at all for the last 5 minutes (Payne, the backup, fouled out, and Ben Verdonk, the back up backup, went out with injury with 5 to play).
  16. I can get behind a big offensive line guy at GM, considering the O-line has been the Bears' biggest issue offensively since...maybe 2006?
  17. Playoff OT, home team should get the ball first, they had the better record and earned the spot. Road team benefits because they'll know going into tight late game situations that they are not getting the ball first in OT, so they can plan accordingly. Coin toss to decide direction of play, so you can keep the precious coin toss. Keep the sudden death nature, football is already enough of an injury risk to players through 4 quarters.
  18. Bulls: Tonight we've secretly switched out Demar Derozan for Ayo Dosunmu. Let's see if anyone notices.
  19. Rush Lambeau BreitBart Starr Brett FAvRe Right
  20. Rodgers just never got the shot in the arm he needed to lead the Packers to victory.
  21. Today I learned there was a country called Comoros. A day later, Algeria loses to Ivory Coast and finishes last in their group (that also contains Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone), failing to advance (after winning AFCON in 2019). So in a 24 team tournament where 16 advance, Ghana and Algeria are two of the 8 that are knocked out in the group stage.
  22. Giangreco has fallen fast, somehow lesser than Kaplan now. EDIT: Personally, I like those odds, except for Harbaugh, who is someone I don't think moves the Bears in a positive direction.
