  1. Bulls with 104 points through 3 quarters tonight, leading the very short-handed Hawks by about 20 since midway through the 2nd quarter.
  2. The Bears have now won all 3 games against teams that are worse than 7-8. They are 2-10 against teams 7-8 or better. The Falcons are the anti-Bears. They're 7-8 having played just 4 teams over .500 (Bucs, Cowboys, Patriots, 49ers), with wins against the Lions, Panthers, Jets, Jaguars, Giants, Dolphins and Saints, losing against Washington, the Eagles and the Panthers in addition to their blowout losses to the aforementioned 4 good teams. They have a real shot at the 7 seed with one more game against the Saints in week 18.
  3. Looks like it's easier to run the ball into the endzone when you don't start 5 yards behind the line. They should take note for next time.
  4. That isn't wildcat, that's just a direct shotgun snap to the RB, it's not going to fool anyone
  5. I mean, that one was on a tee. It would have been a crime had no one brought it up.
  6. Georgia is already having COVID problems, not sure about the other 3, but I saw that Michigan and Alabama are having their entire teams boosted this week. We could see a team win a title by default. A COVID aided Natty would sure look nice next to Michigan's half-natty in 97. Michigan fans are happy and Michigan haters can still say they haven't won an outright title since the 40s. To be clear I'm not rooting for that outcome, that would really suck. To be fair, Michigan is already well familiar with winning championships without playing all the games.
  7. Get the boys ready Bret Seems like Bret already had the same thought.
  8. If you aren't playing for the tie, the better move would have been to go for 2 when down 8. Then if you miss the conversion you still have a chance at the end. If you get the conversion you know where you stand for the last score.
  9. Caveat, there is no such thing as a cool billionaire.
  10. The Bears are not good, but their schedule to this point has been ridiculous. In 14 weeks, they've now played a total of 3 games against teams with losing records, and won all of them.
  11. Why was the original draw declared void?
  12. Should be a standing rule that after you've given up 30+ points, punting is no longer an option.
  13. "4 of their top 5" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there when it's also basically 5 of their top 12.
  14. Ayo led the team with 42 minutes tonight. Looks like he somehow picked up both DeRozan and Caruso's minutes today.
  15. you definitely don't want 7, that's a play-in seed No, not the seed, obviously you want the top seed if you can get it and the highest seed possible if you can't. It's more the team you'd want to match up against. Which of the Bucks, Nets, 76ers, Heat, Hawks and Celtics would the Bulls fare best against? (unless they get the 1 seed and play one of Wizards/Knicks/Cavs/Pacers/Hornets/Raptors).
  16. 1 to 7 in the East is overall very close right now, so when it comes to playoff time, in terms of the Bulls, it's which of those 7 you'd prefer to match up against in the first round, or you hope the Bulls can sneak into the 1 seed and deal with one of Charlotte/NY/Cleveland/Washington/Toronto/Indiana.
  17. ELO projections for the final NBA regular season standings after 6 weeks: West: 1. Suns 62-20 2. Warriors 58-24 3. Jazz 55-27 4. Nuggets 45-37 5. Mavs 41-41 6. Grizzlies 41-41 ----------------------------- 7. Blazers 40-42 8. Clippers 39-43 9. Spurs 39-43 10. Wolves 39-43 ----------------------------- 11. Lakers 38-44 12. Kings 34-48 13. Pelicans 31-51 14. Rockets 24-58 15. Thunder 21-61 East: 1. Bucks 53-29 2. Nets 52-30 3. Bulls 50-32 4. 76ers 48-34 5. Hawks 46-36 6. Heat 46-36 -------------------------- 7. Celtics 45-37 8. Cavs 43-39 9. Hornets 43-39 10. Wizards 42-40 -------------------------- 11. Knicks 39-43 12. Raptors 38-44 13. Pacers 37-45 14. Pistons 22-60 15. Magic 21-61 Takeaways: - The West is 3 teams and then awful. You may think "There's no way only 4 teams finish over .500 in the league" and then look and see there are already currently only 4 teams over .500 in the league, and most of the teams near .500 have played easy schedules to this point that will only get tougher. - The East is wide open for the most part, with just 8 games projected to separate the top seed from the 7 seed and a play in. Also just 6 games separating the 8 seed from the 13 seed, with plenty of teams hanging around playoff positioning (except really the Pacers, who have good metrics but have lost a lot of close games and have a tough record already)
  18. They're definitely going to dominate college basketball for sure now.
  19. Why spend $13 million on a backup catcher? ... oh.
  20. Iowa was clearly the best B1G West team over the course of the season, certainly a better option than 8-4 Wisconsin (though they had possibly the roughest schedule of any B1G team this year), and Minnesota and Purdue certainly weren't better options. Illinois lost 4th quarter leads at home to Rutgers and Maryland, or they would have been in the discussion, which seems silly (they did win at Minnesota and PSU).
  21. Update to this: going into today, there were 82 bowl bids and 74 eligible teams, meaning 8 5-6 teams needed to win to take all the eligible bowl bids. 15 5-6 teams played today, and unfortunately for Illinois, 8 of them won (including North Texas upsetting Texas San Antonio and Virginia Tech upsetting Virginia, and Tulsa upsetting SMU), so there are exactly 82 bowl eligible teams. At this point, the only way Illinois would end up getting a bowl bid is if one of those 82 teams declines.
  22. Face mask flag negated after checking in with Nick Saban, head of officiating
  23. For the Illini fans out there, if they can win today to get to 5 wins, it looks like there won't be enough bowl eligible 6-win teams, and priority among 5 win teams goes to the highest academically graded 5-win team, which would be them.
  24. Nah, odds are better it'd be Michigan vs Oklahoma State, and Georgia vs Cincinnati.
  25. There's a decent argument to be made that Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama and Michigan are the 4 best teams in college football this year, but that would make for a super boring playoffs
