  1. Every single expert has Florida in the Final Four. Here are the 22 "expert" picks, courtesy of Ken Pomeroy: West: UCLA 11, Kansas 10, Virginia Tech 1 South: Texas A&M 11, Ohio St. 8, Memphis 2, Virginia 1 East: Georgetown 11, UNC 9, Texas 2 Midwest: Florida 22 Oddly enough, Florida is statistically (via log5) the least likely 1 seed to make the Final Four, and yet they are the only favored 1 seed among the experts. My picks depend on the day, but for now I have Maryland, UCLA, Texas, and Ohio State, with UCLA beating Ohio State for the championship.
  2. Yet another instance of Pete Rose being all about Pete Rose.
  3. Ken Pomeroy has a good writeup on log5 odds to advance in the Midwest and West brackets today: http://www.kenpom.com/blog/ Some things that jump out at me: - Maybe ND and GT are better than I give them credit for. - Maybe taking Illinois to the sweet 16 isn't as crazy an idea as I initially thought.
  4. Oh, my other upset pick is ND over Winthrop. ;)
  5. My first-round upsets are Albany over Virginia, Illinois over Virginia Tech, VCU over Duke, Texas Tech over BC, ODU over Butler and Creighton over Nevada.
  6. Entered my picks. It seems that all my upsets involve either ACC or Big Ten teams.
  7. Well, at least Illinois' spot in the tourney should end all the whining about their schedule and how they never went to play in Columbus... ...as they are going to play in Columbus this Friday. :)
  8. I'm not sure anyone would be wise to argue that the ACC got somehow screwed with this bracket.
  9. Purdue won at home against Illinois. Ok, we get it. Purdue also lost at Minnesota. Of course, there is no need for an argument whether Purdue OR Illinois deserved 1 bid, as they are both in.
  10. Bilas, Syracuse plays in the Big East. That is why their schedule is better. Syracuse didn't play a single game outside New York in the non-conference. Xavier won their league. They deserve a bid.
  11. Man, Virginia gets a 4 seed with an RPI of 55. That just seems insane to me. I guess the committee really did ignore VA's non-conference slate.
  12. The committee takes a lot of flack, but I really think they got it right this year. Maybe some ACC teams are a bit higher than I would've thought, but overall a nice bracket.
  13. Really, if you look at Syracuse's profile, it's not that impressive. Very unimpressive non-conference, and would've had a hard time putting them in before Drexel, and Drexel got left out. And Illinois shouldn't have been in because Wisconsin beat them? That doesn't make any sense.
  14. Yep, Stanford in, Drexel out. 64 of 65 teams correct in NSBB bracket. Good work, guys.
  15. If Drexel is that last team, we got them all.
  16. So, 60 of 60 so far...
  17. So, A&M, Memphis, Louisville, Tennessee, Virginia, Xavier, BYU in last bracket.
  18. Wow, 50 out of 50 so far.
  19. Wow, committee love for USC. And Arkansas is in.
  20. See? It ended well for you. That potential elite 8 matchup with Illinois is certainly winnable as well. ;)
  21. Got a feeling Drexel is out. So far, 33 out of 33 teams match our bracket though. :)
  22. Committee likes Gonzaga.
  23. Illinois in. And, as a fan, I LOVE that pod.
  24. ...in the Midwest. There are still 10-12 bubble spots available.
  25. If Purdue is a 9, I don't see how Illinois isn't in. but what gets me is that there were a few bubble teams in with the midwest bracket. Every 9-10-11-12 seed is a bubble team. In the Midwest, there were actually only 3 bubble teams in it, as Winthrop won their conference.
