  1. i don't care about the white sox You don't live in Chicago. I'm more referring to the fact that the Brewers consider us their arch rivals, and most Cubs fans don't even refer to the Brewers as anything more then they do Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Houston i don't care about the white sox
  2. Every time the Cubs win, they essentially gain a 1/2 game on the league. Every time the Cubs lose, they essentially lose a 1/2 game on the league. As long as the Cubs keep winning, they'll gain ground in the league.
  3. Here's how I'm looking at it today: Worst-case scenario: Cubs are no worse offensively at catcher, Kendall relegated to backup role to Soto after not performing. Essentially the same as they were last night, minus a minor-league middle reliever. Best-case scenario: Perry figures out what was wrong with Kendall's swing, he starts hitting line-drives again, gets on base at a .380 clip in the 7 spot in the lineup, and significantly improves the team's OBP.
  4. :?: To make room for Kendall on the 25-man roster, someone needs to be sent down/DFA'd/traded/released. Likely candidate would be one of the two other catchers on the roster. If Soto is sent down, there's no chance of the Cubs losing a player. Uhm. There's room for Kendall. You do remember Cubs traded Bowen? They DFA'd Bowen before the game and brought up Petrick. So trading Bowen doesn't affect the 25-man roster. Someone still needs to be dealt with.

  6. I just hope the Cubs are patient today, as Zito is likely going to throw a lot of pitches out of the strike zone.
  7. The only place that is saying Marshall is Karl Ravech's mouth. I trust printed source long before I trust Ravech's mouth.
  8. Did Hill do anything noticeably different tonight? Didn't watch the game. Good location on the curve tonight?
  9. The Cubs are closer to first than third for the first time all year.
  10. It could mean they realized they were waiting for HENRY BLANCO to make it back to the team and help things. When Henry Blanco is the hitting savior for the catching situation, something needs to be done. It would be nice to unload Jones and Izturis on some team that would value them based on reputation rather than current abilities, but unfortunately the Cubs can't trade them to themselves.
  11. What is Derrek Lee's power potential? I'll take Cub batting woes for 1000, Alex.
  12. I agree. Murton, Cedeno, or Soto (in that order). man, you know the awesome thing about those kids? they can all be called up! and...with the benefit of dumping... jones, izturis, and eyre! rawk! too bad this will never happen Do you want a better team or a more cost efficient team? If a move will do at worst one without affecting the other, and at best both, I say do it. Can't see how Murton would be any worse against lefties than JJ, or how Cedeno would be any more useless than Izturis.
  13. Apparently so, since it was a vote and all...
  14. Not for about a year. But there are..."extenuating" circumstances...
  15. Still plenty of talent around. Taurean Green, DJ Strawberry, JamesOn Curry...
  16. Aaron Gray, 7-2, 271. Projected late first to early second. Not a bad pick.
  17. Noah is 7-0, 225. PJ Brown is 6-11, 240, and Wallace is 6-9, 240. It's not beyond a stretch of the imagination for Noah to put on a good 10 lbs of muscle in workouts and training. I think it's a lot closer than you would think.
  18. Couldn't disagree more...he is much more likely to bust than to ever be a star. Take away the crazy hair, the great supporting cast he had (he was actually part of the supporting cast to Horford/Brewer), the famous parents and the bombastic personality and you're left with an above-average, undersized non-scoring tweener. Most overrated player in the draft. How is Noah undersized? 7 feet not tall enough? 225 not built enough?
  19. I look at it as "the next Brad Miller" vs. "the next Ben Wallace". I think Noah actually makes someone like Wallace expendable, and usable as a piece in a trade to bring in a big money player.
  20. I'd much rather see the Bulls either use the 9 pick as a trading chip to get in a big time player (and no, Zach Randolph doesn't really count), or use it to trade into the bottom of the first round and pick up a Dudley or Fazekas.
  21. I'd rather draft Wright than Hawes, personally. He just looks in the mold of the next big white guy.
  22. Santana, Peavy, Cabrera, Pujols, Reyes
  23. I am very confident in the Cubs ability to secure at least the wildcard if they continue to win at the same pace they have been over the last 6 days.
