After 19 major league games, he finally played in a game tonight and didn't strike out. That's a major league record. Of course, he's still doing fantastic.

the red wings are the best team in the west only if you've been living in a cave for a year. jimmy howard is average at best. their top defense pairing is a combined 76 years old and neither guy is as good as he once was. their third D pairing is pretty weak, cleary and bertizzi on a second line isn't going to scare anyone and their third and fourth lines are pretty meh. they're a good team but the sharks, wings and canucks are more talented IMO. (as well as the pens and caps) Maybe he's saying the Wings beat themselves.

Yes, but that doesn't include a hit with a man on 2nd that does not score. I have witnessed that plenty of times this year. According to baseball-reference.com, the Cubs have four players who are above league average in runners that score during a player's at bats. Player RS% Opp Kosuke Fukudome 22% 37 Marlon Byrd 22% 55 Carlos Silva 20% 10 Ryan Theriot 19% 53 Alfonso Soriano 15% 34 League Average 15% -- As you might expect, ARam and Lee lead the team with the most opportunities, but come in at 13% and 11% respectively. I guess a lot of this team's struggles arise from DLee and Aramis struggling badly at times, or just all the time for Ramirez. Which says what we already know. Of the 8 regulars, Lee and Ramirez are struggling the most. All the time, not just with RISP. EDIT: Also, hitting with RISP does include hits with a man on second. That's pretty much the textbook definition of hitting with RISP. -

Yeah, there's plenty to get on the offense about, but hitting with RISP, while the popular scapegoat, is well down the list of issues. -
Plus, here's the kicker: one of those two batters is the current catcher, so Soto will be entering the game anyway.

I married a Sox fan, and I don't care about the "rivalry". I do get a lot of the inferiority complex, though. :)

Where did you get that impression? The White Sox are about as far from a "rival" as you can get for the Cubs. They are in a different division, in a different league, and play the Cubs 6 games a year. In the grand scheme of things, the White Sox are meaningless to the Cubs. Plus, having frequented White Sox games, there is a lot of apparel being sold outside Sox games that is strictly "Cub hate" apparel. The reverse is not true. From general observation, here's how it seems to work: - The White Sox and Brewers fans have a weird inferiority complex with the Cubs. - The Cubs fans have a weird (but understandable) inferiority complex with the Cardinals. These aren't 100% absolutes, but definitely what you see from the average fan.

If they want to do this, just give the White Sox the trophy and let them display it at the cell. It apparently means a lot more to them.

Well we're 3 weeks in now, and there are only 2 undefeated teams, and neither of them is in the top 4 in points.

The Mavs and Nuggets series are shocking me. The Spurs and Jazz were the two best teams in the West over the last two months of the season, so it's not completely surprising to me. Not to mention that the difference between the 2 seed and the 8 seed was what, 4 games?
