  1. The Hawks have now clinched a better record than Columbus. Were they in the East, they would have clinched a playoff spot last night.
  2. Syracuse routinely makes a habit of never playing outside New York in non-conference and building up a gaudy record made of complete fluff. At least this year they actually went to Florida once.
  3. 30 more picks...
  4. Marquette and ND's seeds were both ridiculous (I was saying that before they lost). I don't think the other upsets really reflect on the seeds. It may, however, accurately reflect how ridiculously overrated the big east was this year. I'm sick of playing the sample size card, I really am. And the selection committee overrated the Big East I suppose, but everyone else has been saying those two seedings were nuts since about 7:05 on Sunday. I don't think Georgetown, Villanova, Syracuse, etc. are anything special, either. Syracuse did actually play a road game in non conference this year, and beat Florida.
  5. Louisville can and very well may lose to Cal.
  6. So that's where Brian Carlwell ended up. Good to see that he was able to land on his feet somewhere.
  7. Still, every other game was close, aside from KState throttling an overmatched North Texas. I figured at worst the Butler-UTEP game would be close.
  8. Really, though, it's been fine aside from a couple of unforeseeable circumstances (Karen's surgery, Clint's family).
  9. I gotta say, Butler has been the most impressive team of the day, so far.
  10. I know Clint is otherwise occupied by much more important stuff, but there are 6 hours now until CBS picks for him.
  11. If UTEP wins, that's an early 8 for 8 for me.
  12. My best bracket, by far, was 2005. Had 7 of the Elite Eight, all the final four, and the correct championship game. Picked the wrong winner, though.
  13. I think Tennessee won the award for "worst reaction to bracket placement" for this year.
  14. The Cincy/Dayton game should be the highlight of the second round. Illinois plays (at home!) Monday at 8.
  15. Is this better?
  16. That might have been the biggest game Stony Brook has ever hosted. It was probably a more hostile environment than any team in the NCAA Tournament will face.
  17. Plus, I'm not sure you could have picked a worse time to ask, with a minute left in a game not quite in hand yet. :)
  18. Technically, it's a March Madness thread. Does the NIT count as part of March Madness?
  19. Another Bear jersey of mine goes from the active player pile to the former player pile. That's what I came here to post. What a terrible jersey purchase. I bought it right before the 2006 season after his big 2005 season. I wore it through 2007 and then after that it was really too embarrassing to wear. I think my most stable jersey has been my Robbie Gould jersey.
  20. I'm bracketing an all-Big Ten final four.
  21. By any efficiency metric, Michigan State was definitely the 4th best team in the Big Ten this year. An argument can be made for any of the other 3 as the best (OSU, Wisconsin, Purdue), but MSU was a clear 4th.
  22. 2 games without Hummel. Unless you didn't consider the Minnesota drubbing much of a game.
  23. Since conference play standardized in 1939 (i.e. the NCAA tournament came into being), Purdue has finished ahead of Illinois 35 times. Illinois has finished ahead of Purdue 34 times.
  24. What the hell did I do?? Hit a nerve, apparently.
  25. This just in, Peter King is a moron. Film at 11. But what does that have to do with this note? The Bears paid an obscene amount for what is from all accounts a mediocre blocking tight end, and they aren't going to be using Greg Olsen this season. He has only 2 seasons to set his free agency price, so he should want out ASAP. King is right. Technically, his salary is just 1 million, but due to special circumstances in salary cap structure this year teams can afford to frontload a ton of money. If I were Olsen, I'd probably wish I worked harder at catching the ball and being at least a serviceable blocker.
