This is only the fourth time in Bulls history that they finish #1 overall. In 1991, Portland went 63-19 while the Bulls went 61-21. In 1992, the Bulls had the best record at 67-15 (second was Portland at 57-25) In 1993, Phoenix was 62-20, New York was 60-22, and the Bulls were 57-25. In 1996, the Bulls were 72-10 (second was Seattle at 64-18) In 1997, the Bulls were 69-13 (second was Utah at 64-18) In 1998, the Bulls tied Utah at 62-20, but Utah won the tiebreaker.

When the Lakers-Kings game started to get interesting, the Grizzlies started trying to make it a game. If the Lakers lose, Dallas is the 2 seed, and the 7 seed becomes desirable. Memphis was stalling as much as possible to wait for the outcome of the LAL-SAC game. Once the Lakers took over in OT, they went back to tanking. There's no way the Grizzlies were scoreboard watching like that. They were totally scoreboard watching. When the lead was around 30, the Lakers-Kings game was at 8 at half time. Memphis then closed to a reasonable gap, then saw the Lakers pull away again, and fell to 15 down again. When the Kings made their crazy run to take the lead late, Mamphis made a crazy run to get within 3 with 5 to play. When the Lakers tied it and sent it to OT, the Grizzlies stalled like crazy, taking timeouts at weird times, trying to make sure the outcome of the Lakers-Kings game was set before they had their final plan.

It was pretty funny how Memphis was frantically trying to make it a game with the Clips once there was actually a chance the Lakers could lose. Then when it went to OT, they stalled like crazy with timeouts. Once LA took over again in OT, the tanking resumed.

Heh, and Bryant ties it with a 3 with 4 seconds to play, and the game goes to OT. Memphis has no idea what to do right now against the Clippers.

Thibs decided to put Rose and Deng back in for the last 20 seconds. Bulls up 95-92 with 11 seconds to play, with the ball.

I don't believe in jinxes or omens, or anything like that. Still, the timing of this article couldn't have been worse for the Celtics writer. Summary: Author states on March 8th that the Celtics merely had to play decent in their last 21 games to coast to the 1 seed. At the time, the Celtics were 46-15, 3 games ahead of the Bulls and 4 ahead of the Heat, who had just lost 4 straight. From this point exactly, the Celtics proceeded to lose 2 straight at home, and have closed the season on a 9-11 run to this point, while the Bulls have gone 17-2 and the Heat have gone 14-4.

With the win last night, the Bulls finished their road schedule at 26-15. There ended up being only two teams with more road wins than the Bulls: Miami (27-13 with one to play) and Dallas (28-13). The Lakers are 26-14 with one to play, so they could potentially finish with more road wins.

Frank Vogel Yes, Carlisle has 10. Vogel does actually have 0, but that wasn't the one I was thinking of. Since it's technically right, the other coach with 0 is Phil Jackson.

Reports on Bynum's injury are so non-encouraging, both Memphis and Portland have changed play philosophies (for the most part) in the second half and are playing to win. Also, if Bynum is done for the year, a Spurs loss is huge for the Bulls. EDIT: Except Zach Randolph apparently still gets the night off. Everybody else playing, though.

Bynum's knee apparently buckled after he stepped on an opposing player, he's done for the game and headed for an MRI tomorrow. Didn't look good. Also, apparently the Bynum injury news got through to Portland, and now the starters are playing again.

Thats good. On the other hand, a Spurs loss would almost definitely cause the starters to go all out tomorrow to clinch a tie and potentially HCA depending on the random draw. Andrew Bynum just went down with an injury. Shocking news.

Steve Blake missing tonight's Lakers game because he has the chicken pox. According to a Lakers' reporter, only 3 Lakers haven't ever had the chicken pox: Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum and Ron Artest.

Meanwhile, Memphis is playing D-Leaguers and medical trainers in a desperate effort to not get the Lakers in the first round, and they're still hanging with Portland in Portland (who is also trying to lose and not get the Lakers in the first round).

According to ESPN.com, Noah played 28 minutes tonight and probably would have had more if he didn't tweak that ankle. But your point still stands. An encouraging sign was that Noah was at the scorer's table to re-enter the game in the last two minutes. Thibs didn't do it due to a lack of a stoppage for too long, but still encouraging.

Of course, the bench plays nearly the entire second quarter and Brewer gets hurt. Thibs limits Noah to 20 minutes of gametime and he gets hurt. Rose, Boozer and Deng get 35 minutes of game time? They're fine.

He was called up on Sunday, I think. Some weird rule about being able to call two guys up when you put 2 guys on the DL.
