22 games left as of today, and projections show the win total for taking the division at 90 wins. A 14-8 finish would get the Cubs to 90 wins, so that should be the goal if they have aspirations of winning the division. -
The Cubs now have the same amount of wins as the Texas Rangers, who at one point were 72-48 while the Cubs were 61-58.

After another solid 5-2 week by the Cubs, here are updated Fangraphs projections for the end of the season among NL contenders: ATL: 106-56 LAD: 99-63 MIL 90-72 PHI 89-73 CHC 89-73 CIN: 84-78 MIA: 83-79 ARI: 82-80 SFG: 81-81 Darn the tiebreakers, but the Cubs are effectively in a dead heat with MIL and PHI for the 3-4-5 spots. Atlanta is pulling away with the top seed, and the Dodgers despite their hiccup against the Marlins this week are still 9 games ahead of the field. It's amazing to me that the Cubs are practically on a 90-win pace after being 43-50 in mid-July.
