  1. This feels like one of those NFL years where there are like 4-5 really good teams and the rest of the league is just fodder. Going by team DVOA, the 49ers, Bills, Lions, Dolphins, Eagles, Chiefs and Ravens have effectively lapped the field on efficiency, with the Seahawks, Saints, Jaguars and Browns the next up, each being below average at one of the 3 facets of football (offense, defense, special teams). I currently have no idea who the bottom half of the playoffs will be in each league, and I don't think it matters thus far.
  2. Bedard is already the best Hawks player on the ice every time he touches it. He's already the focus of opposing defenses, so much that he's had several assists to wide open players due to the entire opposing team focusing on him. Unfortunately, other than Bedard and Taylor Hall, it's a bad roster and will probably finish bottom 5 in the NHL overall.
  3. Last night's win improves the Bears record cs Washington to 5-16 since the 85 Super Bowl winner. Feels like the Bears always lose to these clowns.
  4. DJ Moore has 531 receiving yards this season through 5 games. This is more than any Bears receiver had in all of 2022.
  5. That pass interference was so obvious Al Michaels was laughing about it.
  6. Is it too much to ask the Bears to drop 51 tonight?
  7. Meanwhile, in actual Blackhawks reality, the Connor Bedard effect is real:
  8. Part of me feels like I should rename this to the "Learn how probability works" thread and start a fresh thread for actual Blackhawks discussion.
  9. The Blackhawks played their first preseason game last night and got 2 goals, both assisted by Bedard. They may not be good this year, but they may be the Chicago team most worth watching this year.
  10. Sac fly to take the lead, now 2 outs. Plus, the Yankees offense should be coming up soon!
  11. This Yankees lineup has a total of 2 hitters on it. If I'm the 3b coach, everyone else has a "take until 2 strikes" call on while this pitcher is on the mound.
  12. The Dbacks were supposed to play in Chicago against the White Sox tonight, but they postponed it due to the makeup game today. It would have been hilarious, however, to have the Dbacks play at noon in NY, fly to Chicago, then play at 7pm.
  13. The DVOA formula has been updated to coincide with the move to a new site, so Aaron Schatz redid the historical DVOA numbers. Now the top 10 overall teams in history:
  14. And to round out the top 5 from there, it's Alshon Jeffrey, Walter Payton and Mike Ditka.
  15. 24 year old Justin Jefferson now has more career receiving yards than any receiver in Bears history.
  16. All I can really say is that this seems like a much needed day off after 27 games in 27 days, as they were definitely starting to run out of steam the past week.
  17. Rodgers story reminds me of that Greek myth about this unstoppable warrior with an unseen fatal flaw. Forget that guy's name, though.
  18. The Colorado Rockies have been eliminated from playoff contention.
  19. Look, if I'm going to bet that Fields outplays Allen and Burrow in week 1, I'm going to accept the money no matter which way the stats fall.
  20. Yeah, like 4 maybe? Bull Durham, A League of their Own, 42 is really good also. Past that, it's a slew of comedies and melodrama. Little Big League is better movie, Rookie of the Year is a more fun rewatch.
  21. Well, they're two of the top 10 baseball movies ever, but the quality of baseball movies is extremely thin.
  22. Ahem. Cardinals @ Braves at 6:20 CT. Someone named Adam Wainwright has his 8th attempt at win #199 for his career, in an effort to pull the Cubs within 14 games of the Braves.
  23. So it begins.
  24. Justin Jefferson, unless you're convinced there won't be a real RB left by pick 24, then either McCaffrey or Ekeler.
