  1. National Small Sample Overreaction Week. Always fun.
  2. Wings tie it with 48 seconds left, and it looks like the Hawks will be the 6 seed.
  3. Because 2011-2012 is over. Move on. Get past it.

    week 1

I feel like I need some kind of Lee Elia style rant.
  5. i'm going to say that second one is broken Yeah, that #5 was the last pitch to Byrd. That was the one that looked messed up.
  6. Because the HRs the Cubs would have hit wouldn't have counted, I suppose?
  7. Let's not be any more obtuse than normal, Kyle.
  8. Three positives: - Dempster was awesome, better than Strasburg. - Stewart killed a ball, and scored the Cubs' only run. - Soriano was making solid contact all game. Three negatives: - Baserunning ran the Cubs into at least two outs, which may have been valuable in a one-run game. - Wood had trouble finding the plate, compounded by the umpire not giving borderline calls. - Barney was nigh useless offensively.
  9. Ian Stewart killed one in the 9th. He just needed to kill it about a foot farther.
  10. Because it's very inaccurate? It crossed at the knees. It's been very good today, just weird for that last AB.
  11. Why does pitch f/x show strike 3 called to Byrd nearly hitting the plate?
  12. Oh, I guess it's time for the hilarious overreaction folks to blow up the game thread. Good times.
  13. Not even a bad pitch by Marmol, just a blooper.
  14. At least it's not like Soriano was hitting the ball solidly or anything.
  15. GameDay just kind of shrugged its shoulders at whatever Marmol threw for his second pitch.
  16. 108 pitches for Dempster, now done for the day. Wood coming in to face Zimmerman.
  17. Demp's fastball is consistently in the high 80's now. Thank goodness for the wind today.
  18. Baker never touched it, so it's not an error...
  19. 1-0 game on a cold Opening Day after Demp struggled past 90 pitches last year? It's just playing with fire, a bit.
  20. First pitch out for Ramos, 92 pitches through 7 for Demp. Borderline enough that I wouldn't be surprised if Sveum trots him back out for the 8th, since Strasburg is set to lead off.
